Steuben County Transportation Options Steuben Coordinated Transportation Volunteer Driver Program Connecting people to transportation services for medically related visits and other necessities. Volunteer drivers provide non-emergency medical and/or food related transportation assistance to Steuben County residents who have no other means of transportation. Individuals in need of transportation, who do not know how or where to access it. Steuben Coordinated Transportation Volunteer Driver Program through 2-1-1 HELPLINE Dial 2-1-1 or 1-800-346-2211 Medical Answering Service Medical travel provided to Medicaid clients of all age groups. Medical Transport needs 1-2 weeks notice in advance of upcoming appointments and some restrictions apply. Travel assistance is limited to individuals with open MA cases in Steuben County to medical appointments only. Transportation assistance is subcontracted to Steuben Area Rides; HAT; Isaman's Taxi as well as out of county providers and private voucher allowances. 1-855-733-9401 Steuben Transit Public Bus System Steuben Transit is operated by First Transit, Inc., and provides public bus service throughout the village of Bath; to the VA; between Bath and Hammondsport; and between Bath and Corning. (HAT operates bus runs between Hornell and Bath.) All buses are handicap accessible. All bus runs intersect beside the County Office Building on Morris St. in Bath. Bus schedules are available from bus drivers or from the Planning Office in the County Office Building and from website link below. CEATS (Corning-Erwin Area Transit System) buses are operated by First Transit, Inc., and run throughout the city of Corning with runs to Coopers Plains; Gang Mills; CCC; Gibson and E. Corning. (Chemung Transit runs buses between Corning and Elmira, stopping at Arnot Mall. Steuben Transit runs buses between Corning and Bath.) All buses are handicap accessible. Bus schedules are available from bus drivers, the Information Center in the Baron Steuben Building, or CMOG Shuttle Center. Alfred connects with Allegany Transit to Wellsville and Allegany Co. Bath connects with Steuben Co Transit to Corning and Elmira. HAT also provides limited transportation to Arkport, Cohocton, Dansville and Wayland. Saturday service is available to Alfred, Bath, Canisteo, and Hornell Intercity. All HAT bus runs intersect in the Ponderosa parking lot behind the Broadway Mall. All buses are handicap accesible. Monthly passes, senior rates, and Dial-A-Ride transports are available. Local transportation is available for medical appointments, shopping and other approved needs. Recipients of help need to be able to get in and out of the vehicle with minimal assistance. (607) 664-2298 Faith in Action of the Greater Steuben Area Primarily assist the frail elderly (60+ years of age) who have no other means to get transportation. Transportation services are offered door-through-door. Services are provided by volunteer drivers who use their own vehicles. Volunteers offer any transportation assistance that helps individuals continue living independently (medical, nutritional, and limited social needs.) Other non-hands-on caregiving assistance also available (light housekeeping, minor home repairs, yard work, etc.) If in a wheelchair, individuals must be able to transfer themselves from wheelchair into vehicle. Steuben Area Rides provides transportation services to Arc of Steuben programs, as well as contract transportation services to various other community sites. In addition, they provide private, non-emergency medical transportation to various medical and helath care facilities throughout Steuben County and New York State. Steuben Area Rides also provides the following public transportation services: Addison/Woodhull to Bath; Prattsburgh to Bath; Wayland/Cohocton/Avoca to Bath; Lindley/Addison/Painted Post to Corning; Jasper to Bath. They provide curb to curb service. All buses are wheelchair accessible. Two weeks notice is requested. No oxygen or wheelchairs and patients must be able to enter/exit van by self. Transportation by volunteer drivers is available to the Bath VA from Elmira, Corning, Bath, Wellsville & Hornell.

(Van rides and special mode transportation for veterans with special travel needs.) Patients must have a scheduled appointment and may be subject to VA travel eligibility guidelines. A limited number of bus tokens provided from Steuben Coordinated Transportation are available for clients in need of transportation to medical appointments; employment; housing issues; and appointments related to the services Catholic Charities provide.
