ACTIVITY PAGE Bow and Curtsey What You Need: Music player and fun music What You Do: Before the activity: Teach the children how to bow and curtsey to one another. The proper way to bow is to bring your right hand to your waist, bent at the elbow and palm against you, while you tip your upper body forward. The proper way to curtsey is to put your right foot behind your left foot. Briefly bend the knees with one foot forward while keeping the upper body straight. During the activity: Then play the music and encourage the children to dance and jump around. Each time you stop the music, everyone must bow or curtsey to two people and then wait for the music to start again. When the music starts, everyone will resume dancing and jumping around until you stop the music again. Continue as long as there s interest. What You Say: Before the activity: Well, hello there! (Bow or curtsey.) How are you today? (Pause.) Do you know what this is called? (Bow or curtsey again.) It s called a bow/curtsey. Can you do that? (Pause.) Usually boys bow and girls curtsey. (Demonstrate.) Some people bow or curtsey when saying hello to someone really important like a king or queen, and some people do this at the end of a performance. Boys, can you bow with me? (Bow with the boys.) Great! Girls, can you curtsey with me? (Curtsey with the girls.) Awesome! I m going to play some music in just a minute and when you hear it, I want you to dance all you want! When the music stops, I want you to stop dancing and either bow or curtsey to two of your friends. Everybody got it? (Pause.) Great! Let s dance! (Continue as long as there s interest.) At the end of the activity: It s fun to bow and curtsey to one another. It makes me feel all fancy. The three guys in our Bible lesson today didn t think it was fun, though. They were told they had to bow to a fake god! That doesn t sound fun at all, does it? (Pause.) Do you remember what happened in our lesson?

ACTIVITY PAGE Ring of Fire What You Need: Hula-hoop, tape, and orange, red, and yellow crepe paper. (Note: You may need to use more than one Hula-hoop depending on the number of children you have.) What You Do: Before the activity: Tape long strips of red, orange, and yellow crepe paper all the way around the Hula-hoop. During the activity: Walk, hop or skip around the room. When the leader says, Jump! everyone must jump into the ring and say the Bottom Line together. What You Say: Before the activity: and Abednego had something very scary happen to them in our Bible lesson today. What did the mean king do to them? (Pause.) Yes! He threw them into the fire! Who was with them, even in the fire? (Pause.) Right again! God was with them and God is always with you, too! Who is always with you? (Pause.) God is always with me! Let s pretend we are and Abednego. When I say, Jump! I want all of us to jump into a pretend ring of fire. (Point to the Hula-hoop.) Let s begin by skipping around the room. Listen for me to say, Jump! During the activity: Jump! Now tell me, who is always with you? God is always with me! (Continue as long as there s interest.) At the end of the activity: That was so much fun! I have a question for you? Would you ever jump into a real fire? (Pause.) No! We were just pretending today. And what did we say when we were in the pretend fire? God is always with me. I m so glad that God is always with me and with you, too!

ACTIVITY PAGE - 3 S & Abednego Freeze! What You Need: A horn. What You Do: Tell children to move about the room. Explain that when you blow the horn, they are to freeze like statues and stand very still. What You Say: Today we are going to play a fun game! You can walk, skip, hop, and even jump around the room. But when I blow my horn, you must freeze like a statue. Do you know what a statue is? Well, a statue is an object that can be an animal or person that is made out of stone. A statue looks like a person or animal that is frozen. Are you ready to play? (Pause.) Great! Start skipping, hopping, or walking around the room. Just remember that when I blow my horn, you have to freeze! (Let the children move around the room for a few moments and then blow the horn.) Freeze! You all are such great statues! (Play as long as there is interest.) Great job being statues! There was a statue in our story today. Do you remember what happened?

ACTIVITY PAGE- CLUBHOUSE / 4 S & Abednego Walk through the Flames! What You Need: Balance Beam, Red Table Cloth and Cut Out Flames Pictures. What to Do: For this game, you will create a walk through flames for the children. Place the balance beam in the center of the floor. Then arrange the two red table clothes on both sides of the balance beam and randomly scatter the flames pictures throughout the table cloth. This will represent the flames in the furnace. Have the children walk on the beam and try to stay on without touching the flames. Have the children say the memory verse as they walk across the balance beam. What You Say: That was so much fun! I have a question for you? Would you ever jump into a real fire? (Pause.) No! We were just pretending today. Who was with in the fire? (Pause.) God was with them and God is always with me and you. I m so glad that God is always with me and with you, too!

ACTIVITY PAGE Hopscotch Fun! What You Need: Hopscotch Board (on floor) What You Do: Show the kids how to hop along a hopscotch board by hopping on one foot in the single squares, then hopping on both feet on the double squares. Have each child take a turn hopping down the board as they say the following: (1st square) One, (2nd and 3rd squares) two, (4th square) three! (5th and 6th squares) God s (7th square) always (8th and 9th squares) with (10th square) me! What You Say: : Have you ever played hopscotch at home or at school? Here is how you hop along a hopscotch board... I want each of you to try it. And as you hop, we will all chant together as you move from one square to the next, to the next. Here s what we ll say... (demonstrate how each word corresponds to different squares.) Great job everyone! It s so good to know that no matter where we are, or what trouble we find ourselves in, God is always there and He loves us very much! God loves you and God loves me too!

ACTIVITY PAGE Find Your Name What You Need: Butcher paper, tape, a marker, and crayons. What You Do: Before the activity: Cover the table with paper and tape down securely. Once you ve done that, write each child s name on the paper in plain print, with no fancy letters. During the activity: Name each child at the table and talk about their names. Ask what each child s name starts with. See if the child can locate their name on the table and then trace the letters with the crayon, helping as needed. What You Say: Look at the paper. It has your names written on it! When I point to you, I want you to say your name nice and loud for me. (Point to each child. Say their name if they don t say it.) Do you know what letter your name starts with? (Pause.) Can you find that letter? (Assist where needed.) Let s be letter detectives. (Pause.) Wow! Can you find your name? (Help find their names if needed.) There is your name. Can you trace your name with the crayon? (Pause.) Super terrific! Are there any names that are the same? (Pause.) Today in our lesson we heard about three men named and Abednego. Can you say those names with me? (Pause.) Shadrach. (Repeat) Meshach. (Repeat) Abednego. (Repeat) Do you remember what happened to them?

CRAFT Fiery Furnace Ornament What You Need: Print out of Abednego, tissue paper, paper plate, ribbon, labels, hole punch and glue sticks. What You Do: Before the activity: Copy the picture of Shadrach, Meshach and Abednego from the Activity Pages onto the white cardstock and cut out enough that each child has one. Then copy God is Always with me. from the Activity Pages onto Avery #5160 labels. Have the children glue the image onto the plate. Then, show them how to roll up squares of red, orange, and yellow tissue paper and glue them so they cover up the bottom half of the picture on the plate. Finally, hole punch the plate at the top and add ribbon to complete the ornament. During the activity: Talk about and Abednego while kids glue the picture to the plate. Talk about the furnace and how hot it must have been with all the flames as you add the tissue paper to the bottom of the Fire picture. Then talk about how God was always with those three guys and kept them safe even in the fire. Finally, place the label on the plate. What You Say: Wasn t our Bible lesson today amazing? The three guys, and Abednego, believed in the one true God with all their hearts. (Hand out the picture, crayons and the glue sticks.) Let s color our picture and then we can glue the picture to the plate. (Demonstrate.) Great! They only prayed to God, not the god the king made up. They wouldn t bow down. They said, We won t bow down, cause God is always with us! This made the king angry, so he threw all three guys into the fire! (Hand each child some tissue squares.) This is going to be our furnace, and we need to add some fire by gluing it to the bottom of the guys. (Demonstrate.) Great. Now where did the king throw and Abednego? (Pause.) Into the fire! That s right! Do you think God was with them there? (Pause.) YES! God was with them, even in the fire! They weren t hurt! They didn t get burned! Wow! Can you believe it? God saved and Abednego. God was always with them and God is always with us, too! Who is always with you? (Pause.) God is always with me.

SMALL GROUP Small Group Time What you Need: Star Stickers and Bible Story SMALL GROUP LEADER (SGL): Wow! God really saved the day in today s Bible lesson! and Abednego were in some BIG trouble! They had to be SO scared! But tell me, who was with them the whole time? (Pause.) Yes! God was with them! And the best part is that God is always with you, too. Who is always with you? CHILDREN and SGL: God is always with me! SGL: You got it! That means when you are in BIG trouble and scared, God will be with you, because God is always with you. Who is always with you? CHILDREN and SGL: God is always with me! SGL: Our Memory Verse even says that God is with you wherever you go. Let s say it together. Ready? CHILDREN and SGL: God is with you wherever you go, Joshua 1:9. (Repeat several times.) SGL: Perfect! Let s try and say it one at a time. After you say our memory verse, I have a special sticker for each of you. When I call out your name, stand up and I ll put it on you. CHILDREN: God is with you wherever you go, Joshua 1:9. Call out every child s name and put a sticker on them. Make this a special time for them. SGL: Awesome! I hope you don t ever forget that God is always with you. Promise you won t forget? (Pause) Good!
