Alcohol Policy Abuse Sanctions Alcohol Misuse on Campus Students who violate the UIW alcohol policy are subject to the following sanctions: First offense 1. Required participation in an alcohol education activity and/or a Minor in Possession Course, both of which have a fee 2. Notification of parents for students under 21 years of age 3. Appropriate restrictions 4. Restitution will be assessed if applicable
Alcohol Policy Abuse Sanctions Second offense 1. An alcohol assessment by an approved agency is mandated and compliance with the counselor s evaluation is required. 2. Parents of students under 21 years of age will be notified. 3. Additional sanctions may include, up to 50 hours of supervised community service in an alcohol education activity and restitution if applicable. If appropriate, removal from residence hall will be implemented and other restrictions may be assessed.
Alcohol Policy Abuse Sanctions Third offense 1. Possible suspension or expulsion from the Residence Halls and/or the University. 2. Notification of parents for students under 21 years of age Re admittance to the University/Residence Halls will require proof of an alcohol related health assessment and compliance with a counselors recommendation.
Alcohol Policy Abuse Sanctions Providing Alcohol to Minors The University of the Incarnate Word issues the following penalties for purchase, sale or providing alcohol to a minor(s), including minors in the residence halls. a. Required participation in an alcohol related activity b. Eligibility restrictions c. Health- related alcohol assessment d. Suspension from residence halls and/or the university e. Attendance at Drug Court and/or community service Second and third offenses may result in expulsion from the University and possible notification of law enforcement
Driving Under the Influence/ Driving While Intoxicated In accordance with state law, the University abides by the legal limit for intoxication set at.08 Blood or Breath Alcohol Concentration. Minors who are found to have any detectable level of alcohol in their system will be considered driving under the influence and subject to penalties under that offense. First offense a. Required participation in an alcohol education activity for which there may be a fee. b. Loss of driving and parking privileges on campus c. Fines d. Eligibility restrictions e. Attendance at Drug Court and/ or community service Second and third offenses may result in suspension or expulsion from the University and possible notification of law enforcement authorities.

Illegal Drug Policy A student who has been found in violation of the polices on illegal possession, use, sale, manufacture or distribution of any drug, narcotic or controlled substance, or any misuse of prescription drugs, whether the infraction occurred on or off campus, are subject to suspension from enrollment and/or employment at the university for a period of not less than the remainder of the semester in which the infraction occurred.
Illegal Drug Sanctions for Students For the manufacture, sale or distribution of illegal drugs Expulsion from the university and notification of legal authorities. Parents may also be notified for students under 21 years of age For the possession or use of drug paraphernalia and/or illegal drugs First offense 1. Suspension from the university for a period of not less than the remainder of the semester in which the infraction occurred 2. Assessment for chemical dependency and action to address the individual situation; 3. Immediate removal from campus housing; 4. Possible notification of parents for students under 21 years of age 5. Possible notification of appropriate legal authorities.
Illegal Drug Policy Second offense Expulsion from the university; notification of parents for students under 21 years of age or who are older but dependents; notification of legal authorities.
