Jesus died in order for our sins to be forgiven! Behold the Lamb of God who takes away the sins of the world - John 1:29 Jesus Gave Me Peace Within When He Took Away My Sin! Intro Video The Lamb of God Puppet Skit Many Ways To God Offering Time Praise Songs Game Time Believe it Or Not? We have all sinned, the Bible says. Because of just one sin, we deserve death in Hell forever. That s the HIGH price of sin. But, God never wanted us to have to pay that price. That s why He sent His Son, Jesus, to pay that price for us by dying on the cross. In this lesson, the children will be confronted with the high price of sin and the opportunity to allow Jesus to be the Lamb of God that takes away their sin. Join the CSI team as they are hot on the trail of John the Baptist in this exciting lesson in the Christ Seen Investigations series. Puppet Skit Character: Silly Willy is a hyperactive puppet that thrives on scaring the leaders/workers. (You can use any puppet your kids are familiar with in your services.) Leader: What an important lesson we are learning today. (Silly Willy makes some noise over by the puppet stage. When the leader goes to check it out, Silly Willy jumps up and scares them.) Leader: Silly Willy! You scared me! What are you doing? Silly Willy: I m here to set you straight. Leader: What are you talking about? Silly Willy: I m talking about you re not telling these people the truth. Leader: Wait a minute now you ve got to explain because you are calling me a liar. Silly Willy: No, that s not exactly what I meant. I mean you probably don t know what you re talking about. Leader: Well now you re calling me ignorant or stupid. Silly Willy: If the shoe fits Leader: Let s stop this and just tell me what you are talking about. Silly Willy: OK. You re saying that Jesus Christ is the only way to have your sins forgiven, but I ve been hearing about a lot of other people that can get you into Heaven. Leader: What are you talking about? Silly Willy: Well, like I heard the other day about how you could get to heaven if you believe in that boxer guy...you know, Mohammed Ali. Leader: Oh, you are talking about muslims who believe you get to heaven by believing in the prophet Mohammed. Silly Willy: I also heard about how you can get to Heaven by trusting in that big fat guy from Arkansas named Bubba. Leader: Oh, you are talking about people who believe in Buddha. (CONTINUED ON NEXT PAGE) Lesson One - The Lamb Of God Page 8

Puppet Skit (CONTINUED) Silly Willy: Whatever. Leader: Well, you see those were teachers or leaders that some groups have respected but Silly Willy: (interrupting) and not only those guys but I know some real good people that have never done anything wrong, like my grandmother. She was a good person and she never did anything wrong. Leader: Well that s good but Silly Willy: (interrupting again) and I have a friend whose parents make him go to church every time the doors are open. Revivals, singings, eatin s, he s the preacher s kid so you know he s automatically going to Heaven. And Leader: (interrupts) Wait a minute, wait a minute. Are you trying to tell me that you think that if you don t do anything wrong or if you go to church everytime the doors are open Silly Willy: (interrupting again) or if you give money in that plate or bag thing a lot. I figure that s buying your way into heaven or making payments on that house up there like people do on a car or something. Leader: You are very confused. You can t be good enough, you can t go to church enough, you can t read your bible enough, you can t give enough money to be right with God and go to Heaven. The bible tells us that Jesus is the only way and that everyone has sinned or has something in their life that causes them to be separated from God. Silly Willy: Hey, and God sent us His son Jesus so we could be saved and cleaned up and have a right relationship with God, right. Leader: Yes and because of that, if we ask Jesus to forgive our sins, we can have the promise of a home in Heaven spending eternity with Him. Silly Willy: Well I m glad I talked with you. I was confused, but you helped to me to know and understand that there might be a lot of ways that people think will get them into Heaven, but there is only one true way. John the Baptist said it when he said Behold the Lamb of God that takes away the sins of the world. That should have been our Power Verse for today. Leader: That IS our verse for today. Silly Willy: That s exciting! I can t wait to learn more. See ya later! Lesson One - The Lamb Of God Page 8

Game Time Believe it? or not! Pre-Game: Our suggestion is that you signal it s game time not by saying OK, so now it is time to play a game, but rather allowing the Let s Play A Game song (from the music CD provided) to be the audio signal. As soon as they hear the song interrupt you while you are talking, they will know they are about to experience one of the wildest games of their lives. Items Needed For Game: Data Disc; open PowerPoint presentation for Lesson One; begin with the slide titled Believe It! Or Not? How To Play: Choose one boy and one girl to participate. Each question has a wacky sounding statement. Some are true. Some are false. Alternate questions between the boys and the girls. They have to read the statement and decide if they believe it or not. The audience can help, but once the participant gives their final answer, they have to stick with it. If they get the answer correct, their team gets a point. The team with the most points at the end wins. After The Game: Say: You know, kids, the world will tell you that there is no way Jesus could only be one way to Heaven. They ll tell you that the Bible is outdated and isn t true. You ll have to make a choice...believe what God says in the Bible or not. We know that everything in the Bible is true, and that Jesus is the Lamb of God who takes away the sins of the world. Lesson One - The Lamb Of God Page 9

Illustrated Message He Sent A Lamb Materials Needed: The Data CD; an apple; a wad of fake money; the Ray Boltz Concert of a Lifetime DVD (optional) Preparation: Open the PowerPoint presentation on the Data CD titled Lesson One, begin with the slide titled He Sent A Lamb. There is a slide for each point in the message. The Message: (title slide) Today we are talking about how Jesus is the Lamb of God. You probably are wondering why we are calling Jesus a Lamb. I mean, we know that Jesus wasn t really a wooly creature with four legs, right? Well, to help you understand how Jesus became the Lamb of God, we ll have to take you wayyyyy back in history. All the way back to the beginning of time. There was no earth, no moon, no sun. Everything was dark and empty. Then, God said, Let there be light. And, there was light. Then, God spoke and created the earth, the trees, the animals, the sun, the moon, and the stars. He looked at it and said, Everything is very good! But, there was something missing...humans. God took the dust of the earth and formed the first man. He breathed life into him and named him Adam. Then, he took a rib from his side and created the first woman and she was named Eve. Adam and Eve had a wonderful life. They had everything they needed. All the food they needed. They had no problems, no worries, and no school. That means no tests, no studying, and no MATH! How many of you think that is a WONDERFUL life! God only gave them ONE rule. He said, You are free to eat from any tree in the garden; but you must not eat from the tree of the knowledge of good and evil, for when you eat of it you will surely die. Well, that s pretty easy. Just one rule. (hold up the apple) Just don t eat of the fruit of one tree. That s it! Just one rule! How many of you think that would be a great life? (allow kids to respond) Well, the sad thing is, Adam and Eve disobeyed God. They listened to Satan, who came to them in the form of a snake. He lied to them and told them they didn t have to obey God. So, they ate of the fruit. When they disobeyed God, at that very moment 1. Sin Entered The World (slide) (CONTINUED ON NEXT PAGE) Lesson One - The Lamb Of God Page 10

Illustrated Message (CONTINUED) The Bible says in Romans 3:23 that all have sinned. That means every human being since Adam and Eve have sinned. I have sinned, you have sinned, even the Pope has sinned. ALL have sinned. That s not all the Bible says about sin. It also talks about the price we have to pay because of that sin. How much of a price do you think we have to pay because of sin? (pull out the wad of fake money) $10? $100? $1 million? The truth is... 2. Sin Carries A High Price (slide) It s not a price that has to be paid in money. No, the Bible says in Romans 6:23 that the payment for sin is DEATH That means that because of committing just one sin, each of us has to pay with our life. That s why God set up a way for His people to be forgiven of their sins. That s where the lamb comes in. In order for people in early Bible times to be forgiven of their sins, they had to bring a spotless, perfect lamb to the temple. They had to kill it and offer it as a sacrifice on the altar. The blood of the lamb paid the price for their sin. You are probably thinking, Well, then why do we not bring lambs to church to kill? Well, that s where Jesus comes in. Jesus left Heaven and came to Earth 2,000 years ago and became a baby. He grew up and lived a perfect life. He NEVER sinned. But, there were some people who hated Him. They had Him arrested. They made up a bunch of lies about Him, and He was sentenced to die. I want you to watch this video to see what I mean (play the video Watch The Lamb found on the Ray Boltz DVD titled Concert of a Lifetime ; approx. running time is 7:45) 3. Jesus Paid The Price (slide) When Jesus died on the cross, He became the Lamb that paid the price for the sins of the whole world, even you. All we have to do is ask forgiveness from Him, and He will forgive us of all our sins. It s just like we never ever sinned. He completely wipes the sin away. Then, we become part of His family and can spend eternity with Him in Heaven. ALTAR TIME: (play soft music) Pray with the children who want to receive Jesus as their Savior. Lead them in a prayer of repentance and help them as forgiveness for their sin. Lesson One - The Lamb Of God Page 11
