Low Latency Market Data and Ticker Plant Technology. SpryWare.

Direct Feeds Ultra Low Latency Extreme Capacity High Throughput Fully Scalable

SpryWare s state-of-the-art Ticker Plant technology enables consumers to process market data with ultra low latency, less hardware and, best of all, less money. Our real-time feed handler solutions process millions of messages per second via direct feeds providing you with a fully managed direct market access (DMA) infrastructure across all major asset classes.

All SpryWare Solutions Feature: MULTI-THREADED P L A T F O R M INDEPENDENT COMMON API The core technology is a fresh alternative to existing legacy systems. Built from the ground up, it is designed to take full advantage of multi-core and parallel processing. By focusing on multi-threaded development we are able to achieve higher throughput and make full use of the processing capacity of modern server class machines and highend network adapters. The technology is platform and hardware independent, and runs on all modern Linux and Microsoft operating systems. The core technology is extremely flexible and designed to take full advantage of the latest server platforms and equipment available. A common API links your application into the same core technology used to build our high speed feed handlers. The familiar and easy to use API is identical regardless of the product and distribution model you are deploying.

One Core Technology. Three Great Products. The core technology is a purpose built set of software processes written specifically for the market data industry. While many companies have a product line put together from fragmented solutions of many different origins, SpryWare is built based on a single set of source code, allowing us to take full advantage of the core feed handler technology across our products. Benefits include knowledge sharing across product development, more efficient updates and faster implementation of new technologies within the industry. The SpryWare DMS processes millions of messages in a typical server setup. The core technology is written in ANSII C++ for cross platform portability. The design is modular, and all code is tuned for low latency and high scalability. Parallelism is implemented along with lock-free database and queue mechanisms to take full advantage of multi-core architectures. At the heart of the technology are the feed handlers and database services. Access to real-time data streams and database tables are controlled by the SpryWare publisher service and are presented to client applications through the use of the SpryWare unified API. In its basic design, the core technology runs the feed handlers, database, and publisher services at the server level. Data is then processed and simultaneously delivered to the appropriate database and to the client via the publisher service.

Data and Deployment While processing direct market data is SpryWare s core focus, deployment of servers and distribution of data to your trading application is equally important. SpryWare gives you flexibility throughout the technology stack, from data center location to choice of transport layer for a customized deployment to fit individual trading requirements. It all starts with accessing the direct data and SpryWare offers a number of options. The Proximity Cloud product includes direct market data, and with dedicated installations we facilitate direct data feeds via our partners. Next we give you full flexibility in choosing a data center location. The SpryWare products can be either deployed in one of our fully managed data centers or installed in a facility of your choice if you already source the market data. The server installation offers a wide array of options. Questions like data consumption, number of clients, and distribution requirements are taken into account when designing a deployment. On the following page we have illustrated with a few examples how various SpryWare components can be inserted in the stack to achieve specific goals. SpryWare Proxy and SpryWare Gateway servers can be included for more customized distribution. For the ultimate low latency installation, SpryWare HDM and InProcess are available.

Single SpryWare DMS All feed handler functions take place on one dedicated server. The DMS will take in real-time raw market data and perform market data ingress arbitration, data normalization, data caching, and subscription based egress of the feeds. The client will connect to the DMS using our API. Multiple DMS As data rates continue to escalate at rapidly advancing levels and interest in emerging exchanges grows clients can dynamically grow the Ticker Plant by adding DMS servers. A configuration with multiple DMS servers allows different market data feeds to be spread across servers and provides an environment with a higher level of redundancy. As an example we can have one box process options data while another handles equities. In-Process The SpryWare Embedded DMS deploys as a full In-Process solution, bringing Spry- Ware s robust feed handlers and database processing directly into the client s trading application. This technology combines market data acquisition, normalization, and delivery with algorithmic trading engines into a single process. Deployment Options SpryWare Proxy SpryWare Proxy Servers act as the single point of contact to the client machines. One SpryWare Proxy can feed numerous client systems, limited only by the processor and memory configuration of the SpryWare Proxy. SpryWare Proxys minimize the output requirements (Egress) from the SpryWare DMS, thus saving resources for the more demanding task of processing incoming market data. HDM The benefit of the HDM solution comes from the trading application reading the processed real-time market data from the shared memory of the DMS and bypassing the need for the physical TCP communications layer and the SpryWare publisher service. This takes network latency out of the equation and allows for greater speed in algorithmic trading schemes SpryWare Gateway SpryWare Gateway is custom configured to receive real-time data streams in the most optimized design and disseminate the streams in a user-defined fashion. This technology blends the benefits of load balancing and TCP channel overhead with the convenience of a single access point for client or end-user applications.
