Call to prayer Today is Ash Wednesday. It is the first day of LENT. Lent is a time for the friends of Jesus to prepare for Easter. Easter is the time to celebrate how much God loves us and that God is the giver of life. It is the most important feast that Christians celebrate.
During the 40 days of Lent, we prepare for Easter by taking time to be quiet in our hearts, by praying, by doing good deeds, by being forgiving and asking for forgiveness. We will receive ashes on our foreheads today to remind us that we need to try to be more like Jesus.
ENTRANCE HYMN (Ashes) We rise again from ashes, from the good we ve failed to do We rise against from ashes, to create ourselves anew If all the world is ashes, then must our lives be true An offering of ashes, an offering to you 1 of 4

When we eat this Bread and drink this Cup, We proclaim your Death, O Lord, Until you come again.
Our Father who art in heaven, hallowed be thy name. Thy kingdom come. Thy will be done, on earth as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread. And forgive us our trespasses, as we forgive those who trespass against us. And lead us not into temptation. But deliver us from evil.
For the Kingdom, the power and the glory are yours, now and forever.
And with your spirit.
Lamb of God, you take away the sins of the world, have mercy on us. Lamb of God, you take away the sins of the world, have mercy on us. Lamb of God, you take away the sins of the world, grant us peace.
