FIELD-PROVEN SUPPORT FOR CORIANT S MOBILE BACKHAUL SOLUTION Most mobile networks employ some combination of 2G, 3G and 4G technologies with tens of thousands of network elements in various parts of the network, from cell sites to the evolved packed core. Technology advances hold the promise of increased speed and capacity, but the transition doesn t happen overnight. The 8000 Intelligent Network Manager is ideally suited to manage mobile networks during the transition to LTE and LTE-Advanced. Service providers gain efficiencies because the tools used to manage 2G/3G traffic work seamlessly with LTE and LTE-Advanced technologies. SIMPLIFY NETWORK MANAGEMENT AND INCREASE OPERATIONAL EFFICIENCY Figure 1: The 8000 Intelligent Network Manager Dashboard enables easy access to network management functions Support for IP VPN The 8000 Intelligent Network Manager includes purpose-built tools to simplify provisioning of IP VPN networks, often used in LTE and LTE-Advanced networks. Synchronization/Timing Tools LTE requires a new approach to monitoring the quality of synchronization signals, but no new hardware or changes to elements are required with the 8000 Intelligent Network Manager. Service providers already using the Coriant mobile backhaul solution can use the 8000 Intelligent Network Manager to configure, measure and visualize sync performance throughout the network. It s like having built-in measurement tools at every cell site. The 8000 Intelligent Network Manager is a single network management system spanning optical, mobile and business Ethernet platforms. The wizard automates the process for the network technician to quickly create, configure and test the connections. Cell Site Re-parenting Tool Service providers continually need to reconfigure the network architecture to support changing network demands. The process can be complex and timeconsuming. With the 8000 Intelligent Network Manager, a re-parenting wizard automates reconfiguration of endpoints between interfaces. It automatically disconnects and deletes the original connections and reconnects them to the new destination interfaces. The process is fast and reduces manual provisioning errors. Management of VPLS The 8000 Intelligent Network Manager enables management of VPLS-based enterprise services offered by service providers in business service and Fixed Mobile Convergence (FMC) networks. GETTING MORE FROM CORIANT S PACKET OPTICAL SOLUTION For service providers, packet optical networks are key to being able to offer profitable high-bandwidth services to customers. Coriant s Packet Optical Solution maximizes service delivery at the lowest cost per bit, making it easy to turn up new services, rapidly add bandwidth where needed and recover quickly from natural disasters. The 8000 Intelligent Network Manager is the engine that drives more performance out of the Packet Optical Solution. The system manages integrated optical and packet solutions in one over-arching solution for better operational efficiency and network functioning. Specialized tools are integrated in the system for specific requirements of packet optical networks. New services can be added on a point and click basis for rapid service rollout and the quick addition of new revenue streams. Using the 7196 Optical Planning Tool, both initial network design and future additions of new services can be easily planned and implemented with the 8000 Intelligent Network Manager. Optical Power Monitoring Tool The 8000 Intelligent Network Manager has a graphical tool that shows power levels at each hub on the optical path. It s easy to monitor if the power level goes outside an acceptable level high or low. Control Plane Management and Monitoring The control plane on the 7100 Optical Transport system automatically creates connectivity between two points, determining the best path. The 8000 Intelligent Network Manager monitors the control plane and assists in selecting and provisioning the best optical path. The result is detailed management of each element in the network and endto-end service provisioning across the entire network. Advanced, automated tools make is easy to quickly provision new services, and attract new customers while retaining existing customers.

ADVANCED MONITORING AND ANALYTICS CAPABILITIES The 8000 Intelligent Network Manager manages Coriant s mobile and packet optical solutions and products. So, no matter what services you offer, the system provides strategic analysis and monitoring of network elements and traffic flows however you want to best meet the needs of your customers. Service Fault Monitoring Boost service levels for your customers by monitoring their specific assigned services. Rather than keeping tabs only on network elements, the 8000 Intelligent Network Manager provides a graphical view of performance levels for categories, customers or services. You can identify and respond quickly to faults with real time supervision of IP VPNs, pseudowires, TDM circuits and VLAN VPNs assigned to a customer. There are no restrictions on how you group network connections into services. You can associate the same connection with several services or customers to make sure you re providing optimal network functioning for each set of users. If a utilization threshold is crossed, the 8000 Intelligent Network Manager creates a network fault so you can manage the issue before there s a problem. Link Utilization Reports Preempt outages by monitoring network pipes and nodes. A graphical view shows where traffic is flowing in the network and how bandwidth is being used. You can plan ahead to provision more bandwidth or re-route traffic. Trending The 8000 Intelligent Network Manager provides a view into emerging trends regarding how the network is being utilized. Trend reports help predict when links may become congested and solve problems before they occur. The 8000 Intelligent Network Manager guides you through a series of tests to see what s wrong with connections. The tool checks a list of common issues and provides a visual report, including potential solutions. The tool eliminates significant manual work and reduces the required technical experience of the network technicians. Micro-Topology Tool Services operate at different layers in the network to carry traffic from point A to point B. The 8000 Intelligent Network Manager Micro-Topology Tool provides a graphical picture of how a service is transported in the network, identifying all the supporting components. If a failure occurs, the tool shows where the problem is, saving time and reducing the outage duration. Packet Loop Test Tool The Packet Loop Test Tool contains a comprehensive set of tests for packet networks including: ping, trace route, delay, delay variation, throughput and packet loss. Devices are tested automatically without requiring expensive truck rolls, a significant operating expense savings. Partitioning for Large Networks The 8000 Intelligent Network Manager can partition networks in different regions or by user ID so you can define which staff have access to specific parts of the network. Macros The 8000 Intelligent Network Manager enables you to customize graphical user interfaces to show relevant information and input fields. Provisioning errors are reduced because only needed information is requested. Macros can also be used to build custom tools to optimize workflows. Northbound Interfaces Monitor and control all the elements in your network from a single console with northbound interfaces (NBI) that link the 8000 Intelligent Network Manager to your Business Support System (BSS) or Operations Support System (OSS).
