1 Introduction This document describes the offers that can be booked as IRT-tickets in the Swedish system, PETRA (system 74). The purpose of the document is to give an overview of tariff codes, placement types and general regulations that applies to the different carriers that offers IRT tickets. SJ AB Long distance, regional rail and night train service throughout Sweden. 2 Legal basis of carriage 2.1.1 Carriage is governed by: Convention concerning International Carriage by Rail (COTIF) including the Uniform rules concerning the Contract of International Carriage of Passengers by Rail (CIV) Regulation (EC) No 1371/2007 of the European Parliament and the Council of 23 October 2007 on rail passengers rights and obligations (PRR) the General Conditions of Carriage for Rail Passengers (GCC-CIV/PRR) Special Conditions of International Carriage for Journeys using Integrated Reservation Tickets (SCIC-IRT) These Special Conditions of Carriage (SCC). 2.2 Scope The current Special Conditions of Carriage apply to the trains where seats can be reserved and for which an IRT ticket has been issued. If trains are rerouted, the current Special Conditions of Carriage shall apply to the routes used. When the service comprises several fare structures, the current Special Conditions of Carriage shall apply only to the section covered by an IRT train market price. 2.3 Application, changes, additions These Special Conditions of Carriage are drafted in English. They are valid from 13.12.2015. Any alterations made will be applicable from the day of their publication. 2.4 Tariff (definition) This tariff is a market-priced commercial product subject to special conditions of use. The fare range covers the different offers proposed for the IRT trains of SJ AB. These offers may be changed over time. Certain tariffs are subject to the Yield Management. 2.5 Rail passes The tariff Pass (tariff code 44) is valid for Interrail and Eurai Pass holders issued including Sweden. 3
2.5.1 Children Tariff code 73: If used together with tariff code 72 or 87 it gives a ticket with child price. One adult may be accompanied by max. 2 children under 16 years in 2 nd class (SJ), If the tariff code 73 is used separately the Youth price is given. 2.6 Travel ticket Tickets for SJ, where seats can be reserved; can only be sold as IRT tickets. There are only one way fares when issuing an IRT ticket, no stops are allowed and the ticket is only valid on the booked day and train. Tickets must be issued electronically via approved booking system and be linked to a reservation. Manually issued tickets are not accepted. All tickets are based on one-way fares. 2.7 Dogs and other pets The customer can bring up to two dogs or other pets without cost, however only in special compartments. 2.8 Groups SJ offer no group fares via Hermes. However, you may reserve groups manually via SJ Group department then it is a minimum of 10 persons. SJ has a specific when making groupreservations, request price and seats via email address gruppresor@sj.se 2.9 Accounting The IRT offers are accounted according to the rules in the UIC Leaflet 301. 3 Refunds An IRT ticket may be refunded in full if it is not used at all, under the condition that the ticket has been cancelled before departure of the train. If the ticket has not been cancelled no refund is possible. For certain reduced fares no refund is granted. An amount may be deducted from the refunded fare by the distributor. The reduced amounts due to the cancellation of tariffs 76 and 87 are transferred automatically in the cancellation answer via HERMES if the requesting railway does not indicate any specific codes in the element 74 of the cancellation request (in element 74 only the values 01 and 04 are accepted). 4 Miscellaneous The IRT (global price) tickets can be issued during the whole reservation period. Reservation period may be up to 6 month, but can be much shorter close change of timetable. The IRT tickets are only valid on the trains (day, time, date) for which they are issued. Stops during the journey, other than those scheduled for a connecting service are not allowed when travelling with a global priced ticket. 4
5 Reservation on non IRT Trains There are some trains that are issued as NRT, some in the Skånearea and roundabout Stockholm, commuter trains. When making reservations in via HERMES, no price is given from the allocating system. Only the seat information (train no., travel date, coach no., seat no. etc) is transmitted. The price for the seat is set by the requesting system. 5
