Affordable home building insurance for Queenslanders
The InsureLite Story IAG working to increase the accessibility of insurance The InsureLite Story InsureLite is an IAG initiative that aims to provide consumers who find the cost of traditional Home Buildings insurance prohibitive with a viable alternative. At IAG we believe insurance should be available to all. We've listened to the community, engaged with community based organisations and simplified a traditional Home Buildings product. InsureLite has been designed to help consumers keep a roof over their heads if their existing residence suffers significant damage. It also responds to consumers telling us that some cover is better than none. At this stage, InsureLite will only be offered to Queenslanders. This allows us to listen and engage with customers and the community to get feedback and see how the product might be adjusted to better meet customer's needs on a wider scale. InsureLite isn't the solution to affordability. However, it does provide consumers with an alternative to traditional insurance. It represents one of the many things IAG is working on to increase the accessibility of insurance. About IAG IAG is Australia and New Zealand's leading general insurance company with a purpose to help make your world a safer place, whether you are a customer, partner, employee, shareholder or part of the communities IAG serves across Australia, New Zealand and Asia. Our businesses have helped people recover from natural disasters, accidents and loss since 1851. We employ more than 15,000 people in our operations in Australia, New Zealand, Thailand and Vietnam, providing insurance under many leading brands, including NRMA Insurance, CGU, SGIO, SGIC, Swann, WFI and Lumley Insurance (Australia); NZI, State, AMI and Lumley Insurance (New Zealand); Safety and NZI (Thailand); and AAA Assurance (Vietnam). We also have interests in general insurance joint ventures in Malaysia, India and China. Increasingly, we see our role extending beyond paying claims to increasing awareness of risk, and helping communities reduce and prevent risk. We believe it is our responsibility as an industry leader to use our influence and role as a major investor, purchaser and employer for the good of everyone. PAGE 2
About the InsureLite Product Tackling the issue of affordable home insurance InsureLite works differently to traditional home building insurance products as it doesn t require customers to pay an excess; instead customers preselect a minimum $5,000 or $10,000 damage threshold, which the cost of repairs needs to reach or exceed before they can make a claim. In the event our customers home is destroyed or damaged beyond repair, we will then provide a quality new threebedroom home built up to the value pre-selected by the customer of $150,000 or $200,000, or a lump sum payment up to the same amount. The new home will also include: Kitchen appliances (range hood, oven, cook top) Bedroom carpet, tiled living, bathroom and laundry areas Kitchen/bathroom/laundry cabinetry Bath, shower and bathroom fittings Painting Demolition of existing home as necessary Allowances for local council fees, engineering/drafting and approvals InsureLite will only cover your main residence against certain events. This means things like garages, sheds, pools, fences and other external features are NOT covered. PAGE 3
Providing a quality replacement home InsureLite works to put a roof over our customers heads If we elect to replace your home, InsureLite won t re-build your home to its original specifications. Instead, we will build one of the pre-specified homes designed by our partners, Burbank Homes and Ben Campbell builders. In the event we can t rebuild your home, a full cash settlement will be offered. Visit www.insurelite.com.au for a video walkthrough. PAGE 4
