WHAT TO EXPECT What to Expect The day of your procedure You will be asked to arrive an hour before your procedure for pre-operative preparation, which includes both antibiotic and anesthetic drops to numb your eyes. We will review your post-operative medications and activity restrictions at this time and answer any remaining questions you may have. Please wear comfortable clothing. You will remain awake during the entire procedure, during which you may expect to experience little or no pain. The entire procedure will last approximately 10 minutes per eye. After surgery, you may experience mild discomfort for 6-8 hours. FAQs Does LASIK hurt? Because the cornea is numbed with eye drop anesthesia, patients report little to no discomfort during the procedure. Some patients experience some scratchiness or grittiness for a few hours following while others did not experience any discomfort at all.
