Training Module 1 / General introduction to the concept of the management of cultural heritage. Moving from conservation to management. Lecture Aim of the lecture Method of teaching Kraków Management course / Activity 1.1 / Role of cultural heritage (tangible and intangible) for urban and territorial regeneration, strategic policies regarding cultural heritage. Integration of the cultural heritage into local and regional development strategies. Introduction to the role of the strategic documents (UNESCO Action Plan or Management Plan and other) for the management of cultural heritage. The purpose of this part of the module is to compare the international tools (guidelines, strategic approach and other) with the national or local rules to understand the degree of integration between this different approaches. Strategic documents in the management of cultural heritage - between management plan of world heritage site, and protection of monuments programs in Poland. The aim of this part of the module is to characterize the impact of the management of cultural heritage in the strategy aimed to the local development. General goal of the Training Module 1 The purpose of this training module is to provide partners with the ability to heritage management in a variety of conditions related to the management of cultural heritage. The module will be presented by: the characteristics of the Polish documents subjects related to the management of cultural heritage; the definition and importance of the 4 categories documents concerning cultural heritage management prepared on the different levels. The aim of the training module is to introduce the possibility of the management CH in different conditions. In the module there will be presented the characteristics of the subjects and the importance of the documents according to the following categories: site management plan (made by the operational guidelines by the World Heritage); National Program,Regional Program; Municipal Heritage Conservation Program. Additionally the general strategic documents will be analyzed as well. Other lectures intend to highlight meaning of cultural heritage in the aspect of territorial development i.e.: emphasizing the role of culture in the process of economic developments; the role of cultural heritage in the integrated process of regional and local management in the urban landscape context.

Training Module 2 / Conservation vs management. The HUL approach (Historic Urban Landscape) Lecture Aim of the lecture Method of teaching Kraków Management course / Activity 2.1 / The challenge of HUL. A new approach for the management and enhancement of cultural heritage. General introduction to the HUL (Historic Urban Landscape) approach, a tool to integrate policies and practices related to the conservation of the built environment External expert from Foster center 2.2 / Identification and characterization of cultural heritage: tools and aspects to assess the different values of cultural heritage. The aim of this part of the module is dedicated to the introduction of the activities related to the identification and to the management of the different components (tangible and intangible) that characterize the values of the cultural heritage. Protection and management. The case of Kazimierz Jewish district. 2.3 / The strategic relation between the cultural heritage and the urban context. How to build up support for less evident cultural heritage (modern architecture, post-socialist heritage, other). The new cultural heritages. The modern architectural heritage is an urban component that characterizes all European cities but to manage these "objects" sometimes we don t have the right tools. The aim of this part of the module is dedicated to the identification of possible new tools for the management of these less evident cultural heritage. The less evident cultural heritage. The case of Nowa Huta district. 2.4 / The innovative tools or approach for the management of the cultural heritage. The aim of this part of the module is dedicated to the strategy for the real integration of the archaeological site and museum in the urban pattern. How to make these areas of the city as an integral part of urban life? The case of Krakow, Rynek Underground.

General goal of the Training Module 2 / Conservation vs management. The HUL approach (Historic Urban Landscape) An important aspect of the activities concerning the cultural heritage management is cooperation and consultation with public entities and involving the steakholders and the local community. The purpose of this curriculum unit is to present the complexity of aspects of cultural heritage management and reconciliation of different interests as well as different social groups. It is important to emphasize the role of involvement of different stakeholders in the cultural heritage management. The activities of this unit will be mainly carried out through lectures, workshops and site visit. The purpose of the case study is to provide options for managing the urban structures that differs in the type of cultural heritage based on 3 examples: a typical traditional quarter (Jewish district) a post-social urban district, with tourist potential and the Rynek Underground a part of the urban fabric with potentiality to be a urban museum. The aim of the module is to acquire the specialized skills in the management of the different aspect of the cultural heritage that characterize the European cities structures. The case of Kazimierz district Tourism, identity, branding and cultural heritage: case study: Kazimierz district - meeting with experts concerning Kazimierz, study visit in Kazimierz presenting the main issues connected with management of cultural heritage in the district. Issues that will be taken into consideration will include the cultural landscape of Kazimierz in the context of cultural and Jewish heritage, transformation of the social and architectural structure of the district. During workshop there will be analysed problem of the managing of tourist activities, with the special attention to: the identification of the potential groups that explore the heritage of Jewish district; emphasis how to manage well of the regeneration processes in order not to result with the trivialization of the Jewish heritage. 1. Introduction to the workshop Walk in Kazimierz district. Presentation of the main issues connected with management of cultural heritage in the district (Dr. Monika Murzyn-Kupisz) 2. Workshop. Tourism potential of the Kazimierz district. Development versus actual investments (moderator CODEWORK)

The case of Nowa Huta district Interactive assessment exercise for the Nowa Huta case study. Case study visit with the emphasise on the social and spatial aspects of the district. Introduction of the planning aspects will be made by the one of the main architects of the Nowa Huta prof. Stanisław Juchnowicz, who will present the main ideas of the transformation of Nowa Huta district. After the lecture there will be study visit in the district that will be guided by specialist of social and spatial aspects, presenting the current problems taking place in the district. After the lecture and study visits partners will analyze the current situation of potential building for less evident cultural heritage on the example of Nowa Huta district. 1. Presentation of the Nowa Huta district. Post-socialist heritage (Prof. Stanisław Juchnowicz) 2. Introduction to the workshop Walk in Nowa Huta district. Social and spatial problems of Nowa Huta district (Dr. Bogusław Podhalański, Mgr Karol Janas) 3. Workshop. How to build up support for less evident cultural heritage (moderator CODEWORK) The case of Krakow, Rynek Underground The aim of the lecture is to present the implementation of contemporary forms to display the archaeological relics. Presentation of the idea of the underground museum followed by discussion: who is against and who is in favor of an underground visitor center, museum and why. Reasons and arguments pro and against, making alliances. Presentation on the process of the development. Visit to the site. Discussion on: what was seen: is it a success? When and where there are appropriate new forms of museum exhibitions? 1. Presentation of the idea of the underground museum (Prof. dr hab. inż. arch. Andrzej Kadłuczka, Dr inż. arch. Jolanta Sroczyńska) 2. Good Practice Visit. Cracow Muzeum History Main Square Underground. Meeting with the representative from the Historical Museum, visit in the site.
