This paper will present the authors experiences with design and implementation of a project based online course focused on assessment of the integration of information technology into teaching and learning. Course contents, online delivery strategies, and project-based online learning activities will be introduced. Procedures to design and teach this online course, issues and solutions, and a modeling method for student to relate assessment practice with their research will also be demonstrated. Initial Stages of Creating Online Graduate Communities: Assessment and Development. In Victor C. X. Wang (Ed.), Encyclopedia of Information Communications Technologies and Adult Education Integration (pp. 26). IGI Global. This chapter introduces the authors experiences with creating three online graduate communities, focusing correspondingly on (a) conducting program orientation for students enrolled in an online Master s program, (b) performing program assessment for Master s students, and (c) providing an environment for doctoral student s to communicate and support one another. A logistic prediction model was generated from a pilot assessment on student needs and preference for an online community. Initial steps to design and develop the three online communities are described. The theoretical framework employed in the design consists of three design models: Information Technology Design (IDT) integration model, Analysis, Design, Development, Implementation, Evaluation (ADDIE) design model, and Activity Structure System (ASS) model. 8
