How To Develop Devotional Plan For Your Life

Transcription:

1. HE SH BE CED MIGHTY! The prophets of old - told of a child a child who was coming to save! Isaiah was one - who told of the Son, the child who was coming to save! The people who wander in darkness - will see a great light On people who live in the shadow lands - majestic light will shine The goat shall lie down with the panther - the wolf with the lamb The infant will play by the vipers lair - but never come to harm A child will be born to the people - a son given us And he shall reign with integrity - and justice shall be ours Page 1 of 7

2., DON T BE AFRAID The centuries passed - until the time had come The people still longed - for the Promised One But it started with a girl - an innocent young girl Who was chosen to bear the Promised Son. ANGEL GABRIEL Mary - don t be afraid - The Lord has chosen you You will - soon bear him a son and he shall reign - yes he shall reign - How can this be - I am not married - how can this possibly be? This can t be right - I am not married - how can this possibly be? ANGEL GABRIEL Mary - don t be afraid - the power of the Lord Makes the - impossible dream reality - reality - What of my man? What about Joseph? What will he think of me now? How can this be? Will he still love me? What will he think of me now? But the Lord has chosen me - who am I to disagree I am his servant - Let it be done unto me! ANGEL Joseph - don t be afraid - But listen to me well Mary - is having a son - And he shall be - yes he shall be - JOSEPH How can this be - we are not married - how can this possibly be? This can t be right - I know she loves me - how can this possibly be? ANGEL Joseph - trust in your God For He has chosen you He is entrusting to you the child to be, the child to be JOSEPH What did I see? Was it a nightmare? Piercing my heart like a sword? Can it be true - Mary my angel - bearing a child from the Lord? If the Lord has chosen her - she will need someone to care I know I love her - I always want to be there. DUET (/JOSEPH) Mary - Joseph - you won t believe what has happened to me An angel spoke - an angel spoke - Together we await the Son of God. (x2) Page 2 of 7

3. BETHLEHEM An angel spoke! The months went past and times were hard. They had to deal with sideways looks But then Augustus took a hand - deciding to update his books The Emp ror issued a decree - that every Jewish family Should go back to their ancient home - and Joseph was of David s tree Bethlehem! Bethlehem - the town of David - the house of Bread We ve got to go to Bethlehem - we d rather stay at home instead TRAVELLERS We ve got to go to Bethlehem - just what awaits us we don t know We ve got to travel very far - the road is long, the journey slow. We ve got to go to Bethlehem - the Romans need to get the facts And when they ve counted all of us - that s when they ll make us pay more tax! Bethlehem! Bethlehem - the town of David - the house of Bread We ve got to go to Bethlehem - we d rather stay at home instead TRAVELLERS We ve got to go to Bethlehem - so they can count us just like goats It isn t right we should complain - they ll count us all - but not our votes We ve got to go to Bethlehem - the Empire s no democracy We d like to see the Emperor - jump in the Sea of Galilee Bethlehem! Bethlehem - the town of David - the house of Bread We ve got to go to Bethlehem - we d rather stay at home instead JOSEPH/ And when we get to Bethlehem - we ve got to rest our weary heads We ve got to find a place to stay - we ve got to find ourselves a bed! We ve got to find ourselves a bed! A warm inviting comfy bed! Page 3 of 7

4. BEN TRAVELLERS Any room at the inn (x10) VARIOUS INNKEEPERS No room for anyone (x8) MORE INNKEEPERS Go away - we re full (x6) MORE TRAVELLORS (including Mary and Joseph) Can you help us - please help us! (x4) MIRIAM (THE WIFE OF BEN - AN INNKEEPER) Ben, she s just a child herself - and soon to be a mother too If you don t agree to help her - you will have to pay the price For I don t think you can live without my cooking so think twice If you don t agree to help her - you might end up quite forlorn As your right to hugs and kisses will quite quickly be withdrawn Ben, she s travelled very far - and needs to find some shelter soon If you still refuse to help her - you will find that I can fight If you think that that s a threat then my dear husband you d be right If you still refuse to help her - you could ruin many lives And you ll find that I can mix it with the best of nagging wives! Ben, she s just a girl like ours - she needs to rest and have some food If you still refuse to help her - I will place a little bet That its one of those decisions that dear husband you ll regret! Oh I know you going to help her - that you ll do it just for me And who knows, one day your kindness might go down in history! BEN (AN INNKEEPER AND THE LONG SUFFERING HUSBAND OF MIRIAM!) Sir, we haven t got a room but we ve a stable you can use It s not wonderful but maybe - it ll keep you from the wet And I see in your position it s the best you re going to get! So get comfy in the stable - it might even stop her moan I can see you ve got your problems - but I ve problems of my own! Page 4 of 7

5. GLORIA So the Son of God was born, meanwhile on the hills outside Shepherds watched their flocks until the glory of the Lord shone round! ANGELS ANGEL(S) Shepherds - don t be afraid - we bring news of joy In Bethlehem - this night of nights - is born a baby boy ANGEL(S) In a manger he lies - Saviour, humbly born And soon the sun will rise to mark - a great new era s dawn ANGEL(S) Go now - look for the child - He will be your king - And he will bring rejoicing through the centuries so sing... In excelsis Deo! In excelsis Deo! Page 5 of 7

6. IS THIS THE CHILD? JOSEPH Is this the Child, the one we have been waiting for, there in a manger - wrapped in cloth? Is this the King, the son of God - Emmanuel? Is this the Promised One? MIRIAM Is this the Child, the one to save all Israel, there in a manger - wrapped in cloth? Is such a child, so beautiful and innocent, is he the Promised One? But when I look I do not see a King at all, there in a manger, he s my son. I see a child, dependent on a mother s love. He is the Promised One. INSTRUMENTAL VERSE An angel spoke! This is the Child, the one on which our future rests, there in a manger - wrapped in cloth! This is our King, the one the angels sang about. He is the Promised One! (x3) DUET (/JOSEPH) Mary - Joseph - you won t believe what has happened to me An angel spoke - an angel spoke - Together we must raise the Son of God (x2) Page 6 of 7

7. LET S REJOICE! LET S CELEBRATE! Born in humble poverty, soon a refugee. Born to end injustice - born to save. An angel spoke! : Now is the time to remember this child! So, let s rejoice! Let s celebrate! Born to change this world of ours, born to be Good News. Born to bring a new command of love. : Now is the time to remember this child! So, let s rejoice! Let s celebrate! Born to make the sacrifice, born to save us all. Born to suffer death but rise again : Now is the time to remember this child! So, let s rejoice! Let s celebrate! The Son of God, the Son of God, the Son of God is born! Page 7 of 7
