UNIVERSITY OF ILLINOIS URBANA-CHAMPAIGN SENATE Senate Committee on Student Discipline REPORT ON ACADEMIC INTEGRITY VIOLATIONS (FY) The Student Code requires that the Senate Committee on Student Discipline act as a clearinghouse of all academic integrity violations found by instructors, departments, and colleges. Specifically Section -05(d) states: "The executive director of the Senate Committee on Student Discipline shall compile an annual report to the Senate on the number and severity of such infractions of academic integrity, without identification of the individuals involved. The report shall be available to the public." This report reflects all violations of the academic integrity policy reported to the Senate Committee on Student Discipline which were fully resolved (appeal process has expired) from July, 0 through June 0, 0. Cases which are still on appeal will be reflected in next year s report. Science 5 Philosophy 5 Physics 0 5 Psychology Rhetoric 9 Sociology Statistics Undeclared Summary of Violations 50 Total Academic Integrity Violations In addition, the Senate Committee on Student Discipline pursued additional disciplinary action 5 times in FY for students who had committed a second violation of academic integrity. Typically, multiple violations of academic integrity result in a formal sanction of Conduct Probation until graduation. Also, the Senate Committee on Student Discipline affirmed one recommendation for dismissal from a college for egregious integrity violations. The Senate Committee on Student Discipline regards academic integrity violations seriously and appreciated the efforts of the faculty in confronting such violations and reporting them to the institution.
