This Fall and Early Winter... Synopsis Sunday Morning: Releasing Your Spiritual Gifts Fellowship (Koinonia Koinonia) 10 ish week series (Start - October 27 th ) 6 week series Sunday Night: Intro to Outreach (Start - September 15 th ) 4 week series Fellowship Groups: Focus on Fellowship Fellowship series Start Start - October 27 th School of Ministry: Basic (part 1): Who is God (Start This Tuesday) 6 week series

Releasing Your Spiritual Gifts... Synopsis What have we learned about Spiritual Gifts? In 1 Corinthians 12:7, we learn that spiritual gifts are given to believers by the Holy Spirit for the common good. Verse 11 says the gifts are distributed just as the Holy Spirit desires ( as He determines ). Ephesians 4:12 tells us these gifts are given for the equipping (preparing) of the saints for ministry (service) and for building up the body of Christ (for the common good).

Releasing Your Spiritual Gifts... Synopsis Let s look at common Biblical references to Spiritual Gifts: Romans 12:6-8 1 Corinthians 12:8-10, 10, 28 Ephesians 4:11 1 Peter 4:10 Our Road Map...

Releasing Your Spiritual Gifts... Synopsis Dave s teaching on Spiritual Gifts... Will organize the gifts into three groups: Equipping (ministry - office) gifts Equipping Manifestation gifts Manifestation (demonstration - power) gifts Service (motivational - heart) gifts Service gifts gifts

Issue #1 Spiritual Gifts: Vested Vested or Situational Situational Vested: Each person has a gift (or few) and it is his/her possession. They are distributed to us by the Holy Spirit and become our property. Like a part of our body. Romans 11:29 (NIV) for God s gifts and his call are irrevocable.

Spiritual Gifts: Vested Vested or Situational Situational Situational: You have the Holy Spirit in you, the Holy Spirit is all the gifts, you then have all the gifts available. It is the Holy Spirit that determines what is given for the situation. You do not own or possess the gifts, you are a channel for them. John 14:12 (NIV) Very truly I tell you, whoever believes in me will do the works I have been doing, and they will do even greater things than these, because I am going to the Father.

Spiritual Gifts: Vested Vested or Situational Situational 1 Peter 4:10 (NIV) Each of you should use whatever gift you have received to serve others,, as faithful stewards of God s grace in its various (numerous and varied, of differing kinds, mixture, having a number of different aspects or characteristics) forms.

Spiritual Gifts: Vested Vested or Situational Situational 1 Corinthians 12:7-11 11 11 (NKJV) 7 But the manifestation of the Spirit is given to each one for the profit of all: Manifestation : from the Greek word Phanerosis Phanerosis which comes from 2 Latin words which mean festive hand or dancing hand Given : is present present which points to the idea of continuous action. It could be translated to each one He (God) is giving and keeps on giving. And passive passive - which means that the subject each one receives the giving from an outside source the Spirit.

Spiritual Gifts: Vested Vested or Situational Situational 1 Corinthians 12:7-11 11 11 (NKJV) But the manifestation of the Spirit is given to each one for the profit of all: 8 for to one is given the word of wisdom through the Spirit, to another the word of knowledge through the same Spirit, 9 to another faith by the same Spirit, to another gifts of healings by the same Spirit, 10 to another the working of miracles, to another prophecy, to another discerning of spirits, to another different kinds of tongues, to another the interpretation of tongues. 11 11 But one and the same Spirit works all these things, distributing to each one individually as He wills.

Tool Bag: 1 or 2 Tools Tools (vested vested)... or Empty Gracelets Gracelets Empty (situational situational) The gifts (charisma/charismata): Charisma from the Greek root word charis charis which means grace grace Gracelets Gracelets of the Holy Spirit are the transrational manifestations of God. They are given by God for the purpose of ministry taking place for the good of the Body of Christ.

Issue #1 Spiritual Gifts: Vested Vested or Situational Situational Which One is Correct? Yes...

1. Role: The Language of Gifts (Gracelets Gracelets) The doing of the acts which you see occurring in Scripture by means of your natural ability to the degree that you are able (rational rational). 2. Gracelets/Anointings (Gifts Gifts): The occasional manifestation of a gift as ordained by God (transrational 3. Ministries: transrational) The increase of the occasions, use and dimensions of the gracelets 4. Offices: The appointments made by God and given to and recognized by the Church. God takes a person that He is using and gives him a further function.

Issue #2 Fruit of the Spirit and Gifts of the Spirit Galatians 5:22-23 23 23 (AMP) But the fruit of the [Holy] Spirit [the work which His presence within accomplishes] is (NLT) love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, 23 gentleness, and self-control. There is no law against these things!

Fruit of the Spirit and Gifts of the Spirit The fruit is not discovered,, as are the gifts; it is developed through the believer's walk with God and through yielding to the Holy Spirit. Although spiritual gifts help define what a Christian does,, the fruit of the Spirit helps define what a Christian is. The fruit of the Spirit is the indispensable foundation for the effective exercise of spiritual gifts. Discover Your Spiritual Gifts Peter Wagner Discover Your Spiritual Gifts Peter Wagner

Issue #3 A Warning and A Blessings Matthew 25:14-15 15 15 (NKJV) (NIV) (EXB) Again, it (For the Kingdom of Heaven is like - NKJV) ) will be like a man going on a journey, who called his servants and entrusted His wealth to them. 15 To one he gave five bags of gold, to another two bags, and to another one bag, each according to his ability (as much as he could handle EXB). Then He went on his journey.

Matthew 25:29 A Warning and A Blessings (NLT) To those who use well what they are given, even more more will be given, (...even more will God give and keeps on giving ) But and they will have an abundance (to But from those who do nothing, (to superabound - transrational). even what little they have will be taken away.

Ephesians 3:20-21 21 21 (NIV) Now to Him who is able to do immeasurably more than all we ask or imagine, according to His power that is at work within us, to him be the glory

Philippians 4:13 (AMP) I have strength for all things in Christ Who empowers me [I am ready for anything and (immeasurably more than) equal to anything through Him Who infuses inner strength into me; I am self-sufficient sufficient in Christ s sufficiency]. The Question this morning is... Who desires chooses the immeasurably more than?
