Introduction 2.1 Bluetooth Computer Speakers Congratulations on your purchase of a high-quality Insignia product. Your NS-PSB4521 represents the state of the art in Bluetooth speaker design and is designed for reliable and trouble-free performance. Package contents 2.1 Bluetooth Computer Speakers which includes: Subwoofer with an attached 5-foot (1.5-meter) power cord Right satellite speaker with an attached 5-foot (1.5-meter) cable Left satellite speaker with an attached 5-foot (1.5-meter) cable 3.5mm stereo audio cable 5-foot (1.5-meter) Quick Setup Guide Front of right speaker # Item Description 1 Vol Turn to increase or decrease the volume level. The default level is 50%. 2 Bass Turn to increase or decrease the bass level. The default level is 50%. Press for about half a second to turn your speaker system on or off. See Turning your speaker system on 3 Power/paring or off on page 4. Press and hold for three seconds to enter paring mode. See Pairing with a Bluetooth device on page 5. Blue and blinking slowly Your speaker system is turned on and is not in pairing mode. Blue and blinking rapidly Your speaker system is in pairing mode. 4 LED Blue and solidly lit Your speaker system is paired to a Bluetooth device. Green and solidly lit Your speaker system is in AUX IN mode. See Connecting a device using an audio cable on page 5. 2

Setting up your speaker system Subwoofer Right speaker Left speaker To set up your speaker system for Bluetooth: 1 Place the speaker system on a flat stable surface. Make sure that your speaker system is at least 5 feet (1.5 meters) away from a video device such as a TV or computer monitor because your speaker system is not video shielded. An unshielded video cable can cause video distortions or permanently damage a video display. 2 Plug the cable attached to the left speaker into the L jack on the subwoofer. 3 Plug the cable attached to the right speaker into the R jack on the subwoofer. 4 Plug the power cord attached to the subwoofer into a power outlet. Notes When unplugging the power cord, pull the plug and not the cable. We recommend using a surge protector. Do not bundle the power cord with the speaker cables to avoid audio distortion. Turning your speaker system on or off To turn your speaker system on or off: To turn on your speaker system, press the Power/pairing button for about half a second. Your speaker system turns on and automatically enters pairing mode. The blue LED blinks rapidly. Note Your speaker system stays in pairing mode for 10 minutes, then exits pairing mode (the blue LED blinks slowly). To start pairing mode again, press the Power/pairing button for three seconds. To turn off your speaker system, press the Power/pairing button for about half a second. Your speaker system and the LED turn off. 4

Connecting a device using an audio cable You can use the included 3.5mm stereo audio cable to connect a device to your speaker system. If you connect a source to the AUX jack, the system will disable Bluetooth connectivity and only play a source from the AUX-connected device. To connect a wired device: Audio device Right speaker 1 Make all the connections described in Setting up your speaker system on page 4. 2 Connect one end of the included 3.5mm stereo audio cable to the AUX jack on the back of the right speaker, then connect the other end of the cable to the audio out or headphone jack on the audio device. Note You may need to lower the volume level when using a wired device. Using your speaker system in Bluetooth mode Pairing with a Bluetooth device Make sure there is nothing connected to the AUX input jack before proceeding with the Bluetooth setup. Before you can use your speaker system with a Bluetooth device, you need to pair your device to your speaker. You can pair Bluetooth devices such as an ipad, iphone, ipod touch, Android phone, Android tablet, or any audio device that supports the Bluetooth 3.0 + EDR A2DP protocol. The steps for pairing a device vary from device to device, so refer to the instructions that can with your device for specific pairing instructions. Note Your speaker system can store pairing information for as many as eight Bluetooth devices. To pair with a Bluetooth device: 1 Make sure that your Bluetooth device supports the Bluetooth 3.0 + EDR A2DP protocol and that your device is not paired with another device. To determine what Bluetooth protocol your device supports, see the documentation that came with your device. 2 Make sure that your speaker system is turned on. 3 If the blue LED is not blinking rapidly, press and hold the Power/pairing button for three seconds. 4 Make sure that your Bluetooth device is within 32 feet (10 meters) of your speaker system. 5 Turn on your Bluetooth device, turn on the Bluetooth feature, then set your device to pairing mode. For instructions, see the documentation that came with your Bluetooth device. 6 On your Bluetooth device, select Insignia NS-PSB4521. Your speaker system pairs with the Bluetooth device and the blue LED lights solid. Note If you are pairing with a computer, make sure that your Bluetooth speaker is selected as the computer s default playback device. See the computer s documentation for instructions. 5

Reconnecting to a paired device The Bluetooth connection is lost if you: Turn off your speaker system Move the Bluetooth device out of range of your speaker system Turn off your Bluetooth device Turn off the Bluetooth feature on your Bluetooth device When your speaker system is not paired to a device, the blue LED blinks slowly. To reconnect a paired a device: 1 If your speaker system is turned off, turn it on. The blue LED on your speaker system blinks rapidly and your speaker system searches for the last connected Bluetooth device. When your speaker system pairs with the device, the blue LED lights solid. 2 Make sure that your Bluetooth device is turned on, the Bluetooth feature on the device is turned on, and the device is within range of your speaker system with no obstructions between your speaker system and the device. Note The auto connect feature may not work with some Bluetooth devices. If a device does not automatically reconnect, you need to select your speaker system on your Bluetooth device. Follow the instructions in Pairing with a Bluetooth device on page 5. Connecting to a different device To connect to a different device: 1 If a Bluetooth device is connected to your speaker system: Move the device out of range of your speaker system. OR Turn off the Bluetooth function on the Bluetooth device. OR Unpair your speaker system in the Bluetooth device list. 2 Follow the instructions in Pairing with a Bluetooth device on page 5. Selecting a sound source Your speaker system lets you listen to either Bluetooth (wireless) or AUX IN (wired) sound sources. The speaker is in Bluetooth mode unless an audio cable is connected the the AUX IN jack. The blue LED will blink quickly when pairing and will remain on when connected in Bluetooth mode. If you connect a device to the AUX IN jack, the speaker system will switch to AUX IN mode. The blue LED will immediately change to green. Playing from a Bluetooth device 1 Turn on your speaker system and Bluetooth device. Make sure that your speaker system and your Bluetooth device are paired. 2 On the Bluetooth device, select the content you want to play, then press the play button. 3 Use the controls on the Bluetooth device to control playback. Troubleshooting Problem No power No sound or low volume in Bluetooth mode No sound or low volume in AUX IN mode Specifications Notes If your speaker system is paired to a phone, the audio pauses when you make or received a call. If the system has no sound output, make sure that the volume level of your Bluetooth device is not set too low or muted. Solution Make sure that the power cord is securely and correctly connected. Make sure that the power outlet is working. Test the outlet by plugging a device, such as a lamp, into it. Turn up the volume on your speaker system. Turn up the volume on your Bluetooth device. Make sure that your Bluetooth device is not muted. Make sure that the 3.5mm stereo audio cable is NOT connected. See Connecting a device using an audio cable on page 5. Turn up the volume on your speaker system. Turn up the volume on your audio device. Make sure that the connected audio device is not muted. Bluetooth Shorten the distance between your Bluetooth device and your connection cannot speaker system. be established Turn off your device, then turn it on again to clear the device name. Make the connection again. See Pairing with a Bluetooth device on page 5. Make sure that your speaker system and Bluetooth device are both in pairing mode. Make sure that your Bluetooth device supports the Bluetooth 3.0 + EDR A2DP protocol. Make sure that your Bluetooth device is not connected to any other device. Make sure that you have selected Insignia NS-PSB4521 on your Bluetooth device. Make sure that the AUX cable is disconnected. My speaker system and my Bluetooth device keep unpairing Shorten the distance between your Bluetooth device and your speaker system. If battery charge level on your Bluetooth device is low, recharge the battery. Specifications are subject to change without notice. ONE-YEAR LIMITED WARRANTY - INSIGNIA Definitions: The Distributor* of Insignia branded products warrants to you, the original purchaser of this new Insignia-branded product ( Product ), that the Product shall be free of defects in the original manufacturer of the material or workmanship for a period of one (1) year from the date of your purchase of the Product ( Warranty Period ).
