STANDARD Ear Protection Ear Plugs Electronic Ear Protection Ear Muffs Standard Definitions Ear Protectors: PPEs which reduce noise effects in audition, in order to avoid the pains in the ear, due to its properties for noise attenuation. The compulsory usage of the auditive protectors will be specified in the Real Decree 1310/89. db (A): Decibels. Main unit used for the power level or intensity level of the sound. The daily exposure of a worker to the noise, daily level of equivalence, its expressed in db (A), calculated and referred to 8 hours a day. Peak acoustic pressure (Ppeak): The maximum value of unweighted instantaneous sound pressure << C >> in frequency. Daily exposure level to the noise (LEX, 8h) (db (A), ref 20 μpa): The average weighted in the time for the exposure levels to the noise, for a working shift of 8 hours, as it is specified in the international standard ISO 1999:1990. SNR (Simplified Noise level Reduction): Is an ear defender average sound noise reduction.
