Celebration of Life for Joshua Prashant Manasseh Richard 21 08 1989 ~ 30 06 2016 Saturday, 9th of July 2016 Darebin North West Uniting Church
As the gentle breeze of springtime warms our winter world, a new year begins. As the golden sun of morning scatters the shadows of night, a new day begins. As our Lord Jesus Christ reaches out to take our hand at the gate of death, a new life begins. Dear Lord and Heavenly Father, we thank you for giving us Joshua to live among us and to touch our lives with his loving presence. We his family and friends who loved him dearly are gathered here to give him back to you whose love for him is greater than ours can ever be. We stand here at the beginning of his new life to send him forth surrounded by our love. Increase our faith and comfort our sorrow and allow your peace to fill our hearts. We ask this in the name of Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen I am convinced that neither death nor life, neither angels nor demons, neither the present nor the future, nor any powers, neither height nor depth, nor anything else in all creation, will be able to separate us from the love of God that is in Christ Jesus our Lord. Romans 8:38-39

Bible Reading: 2 Corinthians 4:1,7,8,14,16-18 and 5:1,5,18-21 4 It is God himself, in his mercy, who has given us this wonderful work of telling his Good News to others, [a] and so we never give up. 7 But this precious treasure this light and power that now shine within us [c] is held in a perishable container, that is, in our weak bodies. Everyone can see that the glorious power within must be from God and is not our own. 8 We are pressed on every side by troubles, but not crushed and broken. We are perplexed because we don t know why things happen as they do, but we don t give up and quit. 9 We are hunted down, but God never abandons us. We get knocked down, but we get up again and keep going. 14 We know that the same God who brought the Lord Jesus back from death will also bring us back to life again with Jesus and present us to him along with you. 16 That is why we never give up. Though our bodies are dying, our inner strength in the Lord is growing every day. 17 These troubles and sufferings of ours are, after all, quite small and won t last very long. Yet this short time of distress will result in God s richest blessing upon us forever and ever! 18 So we do not look at what we can see right now, the troubles all around us, but we look forward to the joys in heaven which we have not yet seen. The troubles will soon be over, but the joys to come will last forever. 5 For we know that when this tent we live in now is taken down when we die and leave these bodies we will have wonderful new bodies in heaven, homes that will be ours forevermore, made for us by God himself and not by human hands. This is what God has prepared for us, and as a guarantee he has given us his Holy Spirit. 18 All these new things are from God who brought us back to himself through what Christ Jesus did. And God has given us the privilege of urging everyone to come into his favour and be reconciled to him. 19 For God was in Christ, restoring the world to himself, no longer counting men s sins against them but blotting them out. This is the wonderful message he has given us to tell others. 20 We are Christ s ambassadors. God is using us to speak to you: we beg you, as though Christ himself were here pleading with you, receive the love he offers you be reconciled to God. 21 For God took the sinless Christ and poured into him our sins. Then, in exchange, he poured God s goodness into us!
In Christ Alone In Christ alone my hope is found, He is my light, my strength, my song; this Cornerstone, this solid Ground, firm through the fiercest drought and storm. What heights of love, what depths of peace, when fears are stilled, when strivings cease! My Comforter, my All in All, here in the love of Christ I stand. In Christ alone who took on flesh Fullness of God in helpless babe! This gift of love and righteousness Scorned by the ones he came to save Till on that cross as Jesus died, The wrath of God was satisfied For every sin on Him was laid; Here in the death of Christ I live. There in the ground His body lay Light of the world by darkness slain: Then bursting forth in glorious Day Up from the grave he rose again! And as He stands in victory Sin's curse has lost its grip on me, For I am His and He is mine Bought with the precious blood of Christ. No guilt in life, no fear in death, This is the power of Christ in me; From life's first cry to final breath. Jesus commands my destiny. No power of hell, no scheme of man, Can ever pluck me from His hand; Till He returns or calls me home, Here in the power of Christ I'll stand.
Be Thou My Vision Be Thou my Vision, O Lord of my heart Naught be all else to me, save that Thou art Thou my best Thought, by day or by night Waking or sleeping, Thy presence my light Be Thou my Wisdom, and Thou my true Word I ever with Thee and Thou with me, Lord Thou my great Father, I Thy true son Thou in me dwelling, and I with Thee one Riches I heed not, nor man s empty praise Thou mine Inheritance, now and always Thou and Thou only, first in my heart High King of Heaven, my Treasure Thou art High King of Heaven, my victory won May I reach Heaven s joys, O bright Heaven s Sun Heart of my own heart, whatever befall Still be my Vision, O Ruler of all
