St. Luke s Prayer Calendar September 2016 Thursday, September 1 Heavenly Father, thank you for a new month full of new opportunities. I pray that you would not only open my eyes to see the opportunities that you give to me, but I pray also that you would equip me to make the most of each of these opportunities. Amen. Friday, September 2 Our Father, Jesus said I am the light of the world; he who follows me will not walk in darkness, but will have the light of life. I ask you to renew and strengthen my light so it glorifies both you and your son in whose name I pray. Amen. -Prayer by Neil Stovall Saturday, September 3 Faithful God, you give me faith friends and faith leaders to teach me and show me your ways. Give me the self-discipline to practice faithful habits so that your peace may be with me. Amen. Sunday, September 4 God of abundance, you know my needs and you provide for me in amazing ways. Yet, the world tells me that I do not have enough. Today I will not listen to the world s voice. Today I will rely on you. In Jesus name, we pray. Amen. Monday, September 5 Eternal God, you teach the story about the man who built his house on the rock. He still had to go through the storms of life, but in the end, his house stood strong. Help me to make you the foundation of everything I do. Storms will come my way, but with you, I too can stand strong. Amen.

Tuesday, September 6 God of power and might, you made the heavens and the earth, and there is nothing you cannot do. I believe in your power, your love, and your faithfulness. Amen. Wednesday, September 7 Lord, you are the light of the universe. With it, I see where I am going armed with my faith, and I see behind me armed with the love and forgiveness of Jesus Christ. Thank you for your mercy and grace. Amen. -Prayer by Pat Hendon Thursday, September 8 Our Father, thank you for the gifts of food, shelter, health, and safety. Because you love me, I pray for the opportunity today to love the hungry, the homeless, the sick and the weak. Amen. Friday, September 9 Father in Heaven, as I finish my workweek, help me to remember that your work is not yet finished. Give me the strength and energy to show your love to the world so they may want to come to know you also. Amen. Saturday, September 10 Holy God, thank you for a day off from my work routine. I pray that you would bless my time today. Help me to work for your purpose today, and help me to prepare my heart and mind for worship tomorrow. Amen. Sunday, September 11 Lord, thank you for promotion Sundays and Fall Kick-off celebrations. Please open my eyes to opportunities to love the children and students in our church. I desire that they know your extravagant love and I pray they will feel it and see it in my actions towards them. Amen. -Prayer by Laurie Noteboom

Monday, September 12 Heavenly Father, I thank you for my earthly family especially my grandparents. They went before me in a different time, but so much of who I am is because of who they were. I pray today that I will carry their heritage, but even more so I will carry you with me. Amen. Tuesday, September 13 Dear Lord, you have blessed St. Luke s with members from many generations. Thank you for the gifts of wisdom and experience as well as youth and exuberance. May we always work together to further your kingdom. Amen. Wednesday, September 14 God, our Father, thank you for the blessing of my family. I pray we grow stronger in our faith by making you the center of our lives. With your love, your strength and your spirit at our core, we can do anything. Amen. Thursday, September 15 Father, I m in awe to be part of the body of Christ. 1 Corinthians 12:14 teaches the body is not made up of one member, but of many. Please give me the courage to love all of the members of your body no matter how different we are from one another. Amen. Friday, September 16 Gracious God, I confess that my family is not always perfect. We have problems, dysfunction, and arguments. I pray that you would soften our hearts towards each other and give us the strength to lift each other up in your holy ways. In Jesus powerful name, we pray. Amen.

Saturday, September 17 Dear Lord, I seek to speak your name today. Give me the courage to tell someone I love about my love for you. Amen. Sunday, September 18 Almighty God, you tell me to teach your words to my children, to talk about your words when I sit at home and when I walk along the road, when I lie down and get up. Help me to remember that it is my job as a parent to teach my children about you. Amen. Monday, September 19 Dear Lord, I confess I do not always have your words written on the doorposts of my home as Isaiah commands. Thank you for forgiving me when I place words of the world above your holy word. I desire to have only your word as the foundation of my home and life. Amen. Tuesday, September 20 Father, today I desire to love you with all my heart, and with all my soul, and with all my might. Thank you for the Holy Spirit that will always provide the strength when the ways of the world derail this desire. Amen. Wednesday, September 21 Almighty God, thank you for the ministers at St. Luke s who speak your truth in the middle of this large, diverse city. Each week they remind me of your goodness and faithfulness. Please give me the same resolve to speak in my circle of influence about your goodness and faithfulness. Amen.

Thursday, September 22 God of Wisdom, I admit I do not always give you the credit for what you have done in my life. I m sorry I too often believe I, alone, am responsible for the goodness around me. I pray for clear vision to see your hand in everything and for strong voice to give you the glory. Amen. Friday, September 23 Heavenly Father, the world is very loud. But scripture says you came to Elijah in a whisper. I commit to sitting quietly today to listen for you and be strengthened by you. Amen. Saturday, September 24 Dear Lord, I seek to speak your name today. Give me the courage to tell someone I love about my love for you. Amen. Sunday, September 25 Heavenly Father, you have been with me my whole life, and your love has never failed me. Help me trust you in all things, big and small. Amen. Monday, September 26 Dear God, help me to place my heart in your hands. Teach me to wait patiently and prayerfully for your perfect timing. Amen. Tuesday, September 27 God of providence, you tell me to ask and it will be given to me, to seek and I will find, and to knock and the door will be opened. Let me be persistent in prayer, obedient to your commands, and trusting in you. Amen.

Wednesday, September 28 Heavenly Father, guide my heart to follow you always and let my actions reflect your Kingdom. Please help me be an example to others so they grow in their faith. Also, give me strength to persevere when I am tested. Amen. Thursday, September 29 God, sometimes it is hard to find the words to pray. Open my heart so that I may feel your loving presence, set my mind free from fearful thoughts, take away my guilt from sin, ease my physical struggles, and remove all other barriers that keep me from you. Bless me with a spiritual experience. Amen. Friday, September 30 God, after a busy week and a busy month, I seek rest in you. Give me time to rejuvenate my body and renew my spirit. Direct my focus to you and your Kingdom ways. Set my heart on fire for you with uncontainable passion. Amen.
