TITAN VC2 Video Encoder/ Decoder Overview Basic functionality The TITAN VC2 Video Encoder/ Decoder encodes live Video pictures accordin to H.261 with CIF resolution (288 lines x 352 pixels), 25 frames per second and data rates from 64 kbit/s to 2 Mbit/s. An interated, transparent data interface is available for remote camera and/or video matrix control. Interfaces The TITAN VC2 Video Encoder has 6 Video inputs and the TITAN VC2 Decoder has 2 Video outputs. The Video inputs of the Encoder can be selected remotely from the Decoder. Furthermore, 4 TTL sinals can be transmitted bi-directionally in addition to the RS232/RS485 data channel. Confiuration The units can be confiured via their interated front keypad and raphical display. A Windows based PC software is included in the delivery and can be used for confiuration. A PC is not required for normal operation. Option: 2 Encoders/ 2 Decoders Version With the Dual Encoder/Decoder software uprade, two Encoders and/or two Decoders can be realised in one TITAN VC2 system. Mountin The dimensions of the unit are half 19 wide and 1U hih. 19" brackets to install the system in a 19" rack are included in the delivery. SDSL Modems for Video transmission over 2 Mbit/s General The SDSL transmission system is optimised for spannin lare distances usin copper conductor pairs. In addition, the link ranes can be considerably expanded by means of up to four reenerators (line powerin). In conjunction with short synchronisation times, the optimised jitter and propaation behaviour ensures faultless operation with several SDSL links switched in series. The SDSL system is also appropriate for a variety of applications as an autonomous system. For this purpose, an E1 interface supportin fractional operation is available. Transmission process SDSL offers a ood spectral compatibility with other services in a common cable. Both the confiurable 2-wire/ 4- wire mode and the selection of the optimum bandwidth (192- to 2048-kbit/s) offer a hih deree of flexibility and maximum coverae rane. To cover very lare distances, two reenerators can be powered from each side by means of a the interated 115 Vdc/ 59 ma power supply and without the necessity of additional conductor pairs for powerin purposes. Alternatively, the reenerators can be also be powered locally. In case of short line sections, their transmit power is reduced automatically by the implemented power back-off function. AVT SDSL systems are very tolerant towards short-time interruptions on the line and have a particularly hih overvoltae protection which far exceeds the ITU-T K.20/21 requirements. Network manaement A complete line section can be confiured and monitored via the local V.24 line terminal interface. Besides the evaluation of performance data, it is possible to switch test loops and request the current system marin (noise marin). Mechanical desin The SDSL modem is available as a table top system. The ports are available from the front. The reenerators are desined for installation in underround sleeves or in above round cable distribution cabinets. TITAN VC2-2M for Video transmission over 2-Mbit/s Leased Lines General TITAN VC2-2M is equipped with an interface board that provides a 2 Mbit/s interface accordin to ITU-T Rec. G.703/G.704. The interface has a 120 Ohm symmetrical and 75 Ohm unsymmetrical connectibility. Also, a 6dB or 40dB level attenuation reserve can be selected. Live Video and Audio transmission over a 2 Mbit/s Leased Line connection For a live Video and Audio transmission, the MAGIC AC1 XIP Audio Codecs can be connected to the X.21 interfaces of the TITAN VC2-2M systems. With the Audio Codecs 20 khz Stereo Audio sinals can be transmitted in addition to the Video sinals via the 2 Mbit/s channel. The Audio transmission is bi-directional since the MAGIC AC1 XIP units are realised as Codecs. The Audio sinals are encoded accordin to ISO/MPEG Layer 3 and need one or two time slots of the 2 Mbit/s sinal. MAGIC AC1 XIP provides a microphone/headset interface and Audio inputs and outputs. The Dual Encoder/Decoder Option can also be used for this application. In this way, two Video sinals plus one Audio Stereo sinal can be transmitted in CD quality over a sinle 2 Mbit/s link. 10
TITAN VC2-2M for Video transmission over twisted telephone cable pairs Transmission without additional equipment The TITAN VC2-2M Encoder/Decoder uses the HDB3 modulation procedure and can accept 40dB attenuation. The data rate of the twisted pair copper wires is 2048 kbit/s. Transmission with SDSL Modems Video transmission over distances reater than 2 km can be realised usin SDSL Modems. At both ends of the transmission path, in addition to the TITAN VC2-2M units, SDSL Modems are installed. N Video sinals over telephone cable pairs (Distances up to 2 km) With the interated Cross Connect functionality, the TITAN VC2-2M units can be connected in a daisy chain via their interated 2 Mbit/s interface. The individual motion Video pictures occupy a pre-defined number of 64 kbit/s time slots and allow a successive fillin of the 2 Mbit/s sinal. Without additional equipment distances of up to 2 km can be brided. With the help of SDSL modems transmissions over distances of up to 10 km can be realised. 13
TITAN VC2-2M for Video transmission over diital microwave radio General With TITAN VC2-2M Video sinals can be transmitted over diital microwave radio links over distances of up to 70 km (dependin on the area). TITAN VC2-IP for Video transmission over LAN networks General The main compression board of TITAN VC2 already incorporates a LAN interface, therefore, there is no need of an interface board for TITAN VC2-IP. The TITAN VC2-IP Encoders and Decoders can be connected to TCP/IP networks over their interated Fast Ethernet 10/100Base-T interface. 1 Video sinal over a LAN connection 2 Video sinals over a LAN connection 15
TITAN VC2-ISDN for Video transmission over ISDN networks General TITAN VC2-ISDN is equipped with a 4 x BRI S 0 interface board and can therefore be directly connected to BRI S 0 interfaces on a PABX or to direct ISDN lines. A Video sinal can be transmitted with a maximum data rate of 512 kbit/s. If one or more 64 kbit/s channels (B channels) are lost, the units automatically continue to work with the remainin channels. 1 Video sinal over ISDN ISDN software decoder The software decoder can be installed under Windows XP on a PC or notebook, which is equipped with a 1 x BRI S 0 ISDN interface card. The software decoder displays the decoded Video picture on the PC monitor. Compatibility with codecs from other manufacturers The AVT Encoders/Decoders work with H.320 and are therefore compatible with codecs from other manufacturers which also use H.320. The camera inputs of the AVT Encoder can be switched via a H.320 Decoder. 16
TITAN VC2-X.21 for Video transmission over X.21 General TITAN VC2-X.21 provides an X.21 interface for the data, clock, control and indication sinals. The sinals are symmetrical and the levels are accordin to V.11/RS422. Many enery supply companies, railway companies, waterway companies etc. use their own 2-Mbit/s/PCM transmission lines. TITAN VC2-V.35 for Video transmission over V.35 General TITAN VC2-V.35 is equipped with a V.35 interface board. The V.35 interface is almost identical with the X.21 interface except for the clock and control sinals.
