3. Install the Driver WARNING: Do not plug in the USB cable until you have read all the way through parts a, b, and c of step 3 (below) be sure to follow the instructions in step 3 carefully. 1. In order to access the EWS page and Log File for the printer you will needed Java updated to update 40 or better. This can be done before or after the driver installation. If you are not sure what version of java you have, please download the latest version from: https://www.java.com/en/download/ 2. Install the Driver as an administrator. Some system s security may ask you to authorize several times, make sure you click Allow or Install or the installation will be cancelled Link to Contents VIPColor Technologies P a g e 7
3. When installing the printer via USB your windows system may try to install the VP700 by itself automatically. Please stop the plug n play installation and continue with the installer software provided. Do not operate the printer in anyway until the firmware and driver have both been successfully installed. The printer must be cleared of all errors (including any Open Doors) before updating the firmware. Do not switch off the printer during the upgrade for any reason. a. b. If windows attempts to install the printer independently, cancel the automatic installation and continue with the Install Wizard. c. The following steps will verify that the software was installed correctly. 4. Once the installation is complete, open your Devices and Printers. 5. Right click on the VP700 icon and go to printing preferences. Link to Contents VIPColor Technologies P a g e 10
6. At the bottom of the first tab is a custom sizes button. If the custom sizes button is visible your driver was installed correctly. 4. Front Panel Settings Following are all of the settings on the Control Panel of the VP700. If you cannot see all of the settings, you are likely in security level 0 or 1. You must access security level 2 for all of the options to become visible. Click here for a tutorial on how to access security level 2. 1. 13. Printer Log How and When to Get One The log file helps us understand what created your error and can even reveal unreported errors. When you experience an error DO NOT TURN OFF THE PRINTER. Leave the printer on in order to create the log file before restarting Following are the 5 steps to create the log file: 1) First enter the start menu, go to all programs and navigate to VIP Color. 3) Click View computer and printer information this will display the data the log file provides. 4) Following is an example of the information that will be shown. It may be confusing, but do not worry. In the next step we will save the log information so that we can send it to a VIPColor technician for analysis.
