Life Verse: Do what is good. Romans 2:10 Life Point: People who love Jesus pray for one another. Item 4: Teaching Picture Item 14: Bible Markers Sing Together Sing a song to the tune London Bridge : Peter s friends asked God to help, God to help, God to help. Peter s friends asked God to help, God helped Peter. Move to Group Time & Bible Story Page BTH 9 Place the Bible teaching picture in the area that you will teach the lesson. Lead the children to tiptoe over to the Bible teaching area. Hold your Bible open to Acts 12:5-19 as you tell the story. Ask the kids to tell you how the people helped Peter (prayed for him). Emphasize that we can pray for people. Art Center: er Card Supplies provided: Sheet of construction paper, die-cut prayer hands, Bible verse strip, preprinted strip, stampers, ink pads. Fold paper in half for card and decorate with stampers. Glue the hands on the front of the card. Allow children to glue the Life Verse and the preprinted saying inside the card. Say the Life Verse Ask the kids to sit as they say the Life Verse, walk as they say the verse, and pretend to knock on a door as they say the verse. Play True/Not True Ask the kids to knock on the door if the statement is true. Use the following words: Peter told people about Jesus. Peter s friends were praying. An angel helped Peter. Peter knocked on the door. His friends were surprised to see him. Alternate these statements with statements not true like Peter was at the zoo. Peter stayed in jail. Peter s rode the bus to Mary s house. Notify the children that it is about time to clean up. Use a signal like clapping three times to get their attention. Announce there are five more minutes before cleanup time; the next time they hear you clap, it will be time to clean up. Greet the parents as they arrive. Inform them that the children learned that people prayed for Peter and we can ask God to help others too.

Lead the kids to clap each time they hear the words Jesus taught. Talk About the Bible Story Page 23 Supplies provided: Teaching picture Place the teaching picture in the story circle. Open your Bible to Acts 12 as you begin to tell the Bible story. Let a volunteer see the name of Peter in today s passage. Allow several children to take a turn looking in the Bible for Peter s name. Thank God for stories from the Bible that helps us learn about how we can pray for others. Art Center: Peter s Chains Supplies provided: construction paper strips, Life Verse strip. Remind the children that the Bible tells us that Peter was chained between two guards. Give each child some construction paper strips and show them how to loop then tape one strip together to make a chain link. Encourage them to continue the process until they come to the last strip. Let them glue the Life Verse on the last strip before they tape it together. Kids Activity Page Supplies provided: Kids Activity page Follow the directions if time allows. Be sure to send home. Make a Life Point Ask the children to finish the sentence: People who love Jesus pray for. Ask for volunteers to pray. Tell the class that it is now time to clean the room. Emphasize that in a few minutes they will hear knocking as a signal to clean up. Go to each area and knock on a table, wall or chair. Give each child his take-home items. Make sure each child has a Kids Activity Page. Explain to parents that this page can be a resource for weekly family Bible study. Mention something positive about each child when he leaves.

Life Verse: Do what is good. Romans 2:10. Life Point: People who have Jesus help others. Item 5: Teaching Picture Item 14: Bible Markers Kid s Activity Pages Sing Together To the tune The Farmer in the Dell, sing: A helper I will be. A helper I will be. I can help *stir the food. A helper I will be. *Substitute: wash the car, feed my dog, sweep the floor, fold the clothes, water plants. When you repeat the stanza and substitute a different action, lead the children to play out the action as they sing. Talk about the Bible Story Place the Bible Marker in the reference (Acts 9:36) and place the teaching picture in front of you. As you begin the story of Dorcas, pretend to use a darning needle to take a stitch and pull it out pretending to take a stitch., thanking God for teachers and people in the children s families who help them learn from the Bible. Art Center: New Clothes Supplies provided: die-cut shirt on cardstock per child, yarn, Life Verse strip. Preparation Needed: Pre- hole punch the t -shirt for the children Say that Dorcas helped others by making clothes for them Have the children pretend to sew. Encourage them to do the motion. Let each child decorate the die-cut shirt with crayons or marker. Glue the Life Verse to the shirt. Let them sew the shirt around the outside edge. Show them how to push the yarn in and out of the holes you punched on the shirt. Play an Action Game Page BTH 12 With the children standing in a circle (each an arm s length apart), choose one player to be It. As the others sing the song from Sing Together, (refer back to the Famer in the Dell song to the left of page) It pretends to be a needle and thread, weaving in and out of the children in the circle. At the end of the song, It can tag a player to be the new It. Give children a five-minute warning before assigning specific cleanup tasks. To the tune Mulberry Bush, sing: This is the way we help at church, help at church, help at church. This is the way we help at church, by picking up the blocks. Afterward, gather the children to a cleared area away from the door. Encourage the parents to help their children learn about Dorcas and about helping others by reading today s Bible story on the Kids Activity Page.

Glue the Life Verse on the bottom of the page. Kids Activity Page Build a Bible Story Scene Supplies provided: Kids Activity page Show the children how to complete the dot-to-dot on the Kids Activity Page. Life Verse: Do what is good. Romans 2:10 Life Point: What we do we love Jesus. Item 6: Teaching Pictures, Item 14, 20: Bible Markers Gather Together Call the children by name, a few at a time, to move to the grouptime area. Continue until all have moved. Talk about the Bible Story Open your Bible to 1 and 2 Peter. As you tell the Bible story, encourage the children to listen to find what things Peter learned from Jesus. Say the Life Verse Open the Bible to Romans 2. Show the children that Romans is in the New Testament. Say the verse and lead the kids to repeat the verse with you. Use the Bible Marker as you say the verse. Thank God for Jesus. Ask God to help us show love for others. Make Marks on a Gel Bag Page 32 (teacher directed activity) Supplies provided: Heavy duty Zip Lock bag, colored hair gel, tape. Put 2 spoonfuls of hair gel into the zip lock bag. Press out all the air as you seal the bag. Tape the bag to the table by placing the tape across the top portion of the bag. Invite the kids to write letters on the bag. Art Center: Make Super Bowl Bible Markers Supplies provided: Construction paper strips, sport stickers, and Life Verse strip. Allow the children to glue the Life Verse on the paper strips. Let them decorate the strips with sport stickers. Say the Life Verse. Talk about things Peter wrote in his letters. Pass the Football Game Supplies Provided: 2 small footballs Arrange teams to stand in a line, one behind the other. Give each team a miniature football which the first person will tuck under the chin. Tell the children to pass the ball to the person behind while still keeping the ball secured under their chin. When the ball gets to the last person that person walks to the front of line and begins again. The winning team, is the first team to get their starting person to the front of the line. Walk around the room and give the children specific jobs to do. Thank the children as they work. Greet and tell parents that the children learned that Peter wrote letters that are in our Bible. Make sure each child has his Kids Activity Page, artwork, and other belongings.

6:30 p.m., 8:00 a.m. and 11:00 a.m. 3 s Pre-K Living February 1 & 2, 2014 Super Bowl Weekend Unit 1, Lesson 6 Bible Story: Peter Wrote Letters Bible Story Passage: 1 and 2 Peter Christ Focus: We can show our love for Jesus by what we do. Life Verse: Do what is good. Romans 2:10 Life Point: What we do we love Jesus. Item 6: Teaching Pictures, Item 14, 20: Bible Markers Book: What Happened Next? Group Time - Turn on CD (track 2) Play Who Jesus Was Lead the children to march in a circle and hold up a finger each time they hear something about Jesus in a song. Have the children recall seven things about Jesus mentioned in the song. (He taught us to love, how to be kind, and how to care. He taught us to pray and share with each other. He taught what was right.) Talk about the Bible Story Page 31 Display the teaching picture. Show the children the books of 1 & 2 Peter as you begin to tell the Bible story. Explain that these are the letters that Peter wrote. Thank God for the stories from the Bible. Art Center: #1 Hand Supplies provided: Pre-printed handprints on cardstock, crayons or markers. Preparation needed: Pre-cut the handprints Provide two pre-cut handprints Let the children decorate the handprint with crayons or markers. Staple the handprints together. Show them how to place their hand inside the stapled hand. Parade time Play Show Some Love (track 1) Play the music and have the children follow you with their #1 hands as you parade around the room. Life Verse Football Game Supplies Provided: miniature football (left from 1 st hour) Gather the children in a circle and have them gently toss the football to different class friends across the circle. The person catching the ball will say the Life Verse and then, throw to the next person until everyone has a turn, including the teachers. Kids Activity Page Have each child go home with the activity page. Walk around the room and give the children specific jobs to do. Thank the children as they work. Read the book What Happened Next? Talk about the things the kids have learned from the Bible stories in this unit. As parents arrive to pick up their children, thank them for coming to church today. Help gather the crafts and Kids Activity page from today s class time.

February 8 and 9, 2014 We Love Our Teacher Weekend Unit 2, Lesson 1 Bible Story: Jesus and Bartimaeus Bible Story Passage: Mark 10:46-52 Christ Focus: We can turn to Jesus for help. Life Verse: There is no other God. Isaiah 45:22 Life Point: God sent Jesus to help people. Item 7: Teaching Picture Item 14, 34: Bible Markers Book: Jesus Move to Group Time Mention that at the beginning of today s Bible story, Bartimaeus could not see. Lead the children to walk in pairs to group time. Instruct one child in each pair to close his eyes. Guide the other child to lead him. Talk About the Bible Story Display the teaching picture. Open your Bible to Mark 10 and lay it in your lap. Tell the Bible story. together as a group. Play A Guessing Game Supplies provided: a paper bag Preparation needed: Place various items from the room (such as a wooden block, a book, a crayon, a toy car, and a glue stick) in a paper bag. Invite the children to take turns identifying any item, using only touch. Sing Together To the tune Mulberry Bush, sing: Jesus did things that I can t do, I can t do, I can t do. Jesus did things that I can t do. He made a blind man see. Art Center: Tambourine Supplies provided: two plates, rice/beans, strips of crepe paper, die-cut hearts, Life Verse strip. Tell the children we are going to use our tambourines to praise the Lord because He healed Bartimaeus. Let children color the backsides of the plates. Glue the Life Verse on the top center of one plate. Decorate with hearts. Staple the two plates together placing some rice or beans and strips of crepe paper between the two plates as you staple the plates together. Review the Life Verse Use the Bible Marker with the Life Verse and say the verse as you touch each word. Lead a child to point to each word as everyone else says the verse. Repeat with several volunteers. Assign cleanup duties. Sing to the tune Row, Row, Row Your Boat : Clean, clean, clean up now, Everybody help! It s time to pick up all the toys. It s time to clean up now. As parents arrive, quietly escort each child to his parents. Send today s Kids Activity Page home and any art.

February 8 and 9, 2014 We Love Our Teachers Weekend Unit 2, Lesson 1 Bible Story: Jesus and Bartimaeus Bible Story Passage: Mark 10:46-52 Christ Focus: We can turn to Jesus for help. Life Verse: There is no other God. Isaiah 45:22 Life Point: God sent Jesus to help people. Item 7: Teaching Picture Item 14 & 34: Bible Markers Book: Jesus Talk About the Bible Story Page 37 Show the teaching picture. Open your Bible to Mark 10. Use an expressive voice to tell the Bible story. Sing Together Play Turn to Jesus (track 6). Lead the children to blink their eyes to the beat of the music. They may also turn in a slow circle when they hear the word turn. Say the Life Verse Page 37 Point to Isaiah 45:22 in the Bible. Refer to the Bible Marker and read the Life Verse. Have the children close their eyes and say the Bible Verse two times., thanking God for Jesus. Art Center: Heart Eye Glasses God loved us so much He sent Jesus to help people. Bartimaeus was someone that Jesus helped to see. Supplies provided: Preprinted eyeglass pattern on cardstock Life Verse strip, and small heart stickers Teacher Preparation: Pre-cut the eyeglasses pattern for each child before you begin the activity. Give each child preprinted eyeglasses Glue the Life Verse to one side of the eyeglasses. Let them adhere a few hearts to each side. Create an Obstacle Course Use items in the room such as wooden blocks, tables, chairs, yarn, or tape. As the boys and girls design and try out the obstacle course, talk about the importance of seeing the obstacles. Remark that the man in today s Bible story had to feel any obstacles in his path because he could not see. Assign cleanup duties. Sing to the tune Row, Row, Row Your Boat : Clean, clean, clean up now, Everybody help! It s time to pick up all the toys. It s time to clean up now. Thank parents for bringing their children to church today. Help parents gather their children s crafts. Be sure to send an activity page home with them too.
