Carefully unpack your grinder making sure to remove all literature and packing materials. 2. Place grinder on a flat, steady surface that is clean, well lit, dry and close to a power outlet. 3. Make sure the grinder is not accessible to children. 4. With a damp cloth clean the bean hopper, the lid and the ground coffee container. Allow to air dry completely. 5. Check area where the coffee bean hopper sits for presence of foreign objects. 6. Lower the bean hopper onto the grinder and put lid firmly in place. Because of the shape on the mount underneath the hopper, it will go in any of three positions. 7. Slide the ground coffee container into place. 8. Connect to power outlet making sure voltage corresponds to voltage shown on appliance. 9. Do not power on with bean hopper empty. 6

Using your Saeco Burr Grinder (continued) Grinding Beans 1. Fill the bean hopper with fresh coffee beans. 2. Replace the lid on the coffee bean hopper. 3. Make sure the ground coffee container is firmly in place. 4. Select the number of cups of coffee you will be brewing, from 1 to 10. 5. The grinder will begin grinding the beans. 6. Turn the grind control ring to select the desired grind setting (see Grind Setting Chart). Turn clockwise for a finer grind and counter clockwise for a coarser grind. 7. The cup control dial does not turn while the unit is grinding. The timer will automatically shut off once the right amount of coffee has been ground. The amount of ground coffee dispensed will vary depending on the grind setting and the type of coffee used. 8. If you run out of coffee beans or want to stop the grinding process before the timer shuts off, turn the timer dial until it points all the way up. 9. If the grinding stops before all the coffee beans are ground, turn the dial again. 10. Once the grinder is off, unplug it from the power outlet. 11. Slide out the ground coffee container and clean the ground coffee chute. 12. Scoop the desired amount of coffee into you coffee maker's filter, filter basket, etc. 13. To ensure freshness, we recommend grinding only the desired amount of coffee that will be used. 14. To avoid overheating the motor, do not grind for more than 2 minutes. Allow the motor to cool to room temperature for at least 2 minutes before reusing. 7

Grind Setting Chart The grind control ring goes from fine to coarse. Settings will vary according to the desired taste and type of coffee being brewed. We recommend you start at the following settings and experiment until you find the perfect setting to meet your needs: Fine... Medium... Coarse Espresso and Cappuccino Drip Coffee Percolator and French Press Helpful Grinding Tips 1. Use only coffee beans in this appliance. 2. Select grind setting while the grinder is running or the bean hopper is completely empty. 3. Make sure the bean hopper, lid and ground coffee container are firmly in place when appliance is running. 4. To avoid overheating the motor, do not grind for longer than 2 minutes. Allow to cool down for at least 2 minutes in between cycles. Do not run this appliance unattended. 5. Do not use the finest setting when grinding coffee for your drip coffee maker. Fine grounds can cause coffee filters to overflow. Suggested Servings and Tips for Brewing the Ideal Coffee We believe that in order to enjoy the freshest coffee it is essential that you always use fresh whole beans in your grinder. It is optimal not to let the ground coffee sit unused for more than 24 hours. After 24 hours the coffee may become stale and spoil the taste of your coffee. Store open coffee bean bag or loose beans in an airtight container away from direct sunlight. We do not recommend using frozen or refrigerated beans. We suggest two tablespoons of preground coffee (10 grams) per every 6 ounces of water. However, you may want to experiment to find the optimal amount of coffee for your individual tastes. 8

Cleaning and Maintenance 1. CAUTION: Always unplug your grinder after use and before cleaning. To protect against electric shock, do not immerse cord, plug or unit in water or other liquid. 2. Clean the ground coffee chute. For best results we recommend doing this after every use. 3. Wipe the outside body of the grinder with a soft, damp cloth. Allow to air dry. 4. The ground coffee container can be washed with warm water and a mild detergent. Remove from main body of grinder for cleaning. Do not put in a dishwasher. Allow to air dry completely before reinstalling. 5. Remove bean hopper lid, and tilt grinder to empty any remaining coffee beans in the bean hopper. Once empty, remove the hopper from the main body. Wipe bean hopper and lid with a soft, damp cloth.allow to air dry. Note: Do not clean inside of bean hopper while fitted on grinder. Moisture may damage burrs and grinder motor. Not dishwasher safe. 6. Contact Saeco Customer Service at 1-800-933-7876 or info@saeco-usa.com if you have any questions or need further assistance. 9
