DMK skin technicians should note the following about its use: alkaline wash should not be performed more than once every two weeks. alkaline wash must be used with caution when treating Asian skin, as it can cause irritation and post inflammatory hyperpigmentation (PIH). alkaline wash must be used in conjunction with an effective program of sun protection. The client must read and sign a consent form before every course of treatments. A new consent form is required if alkaline wash is used for a different purpose, such as scarring instead of hair removal, as the procedure and outcome may vary. DMK s The building blocks for MelanoZone treatments Cleansing > Removes impurities, excess oil, makeup and toxins from the outside environment. 1. Mix a pea sized amount of deep pore cleanser plus or rinsing milk plus in a DMK mixing bowl, add water and whip with a DMK fan brush into a light and fluffy consistency. 2. Cleanse the skin using flowing circular movements, starting from the décolleté and working your way up the neck to cover the entire face. 3. Remove cleanser with a warm, moist towel. Pro Alpha #1 > Hydrolyzes dead cell material drawing water up to the surface, dislodging and pushing sebum plugs to the surface and increasing dermal hydration. NOTE: pro alpha #1 is NOT removed before applying the unique transfer messenger enzyme formulation. enzyme masque #1 and pro alpha solution work hand in hand to improve skin functioning. pro alpha #1 pulls up free water levels, while enzyme masque #1 moves the water with reverse osmosis. 1. Use the application technique described below. Dermatox > Acts like a liquid magnet, drawing out and vaporising toxins from the skin. NOTE: Inform your client that they may smell strong odours due to its vaporising effect. If you are going to use sebum soak on the client s skin, apply dermatox after sebum soak. 1. Pour dermatox onto a cotton ball and wipe over cleansed face, neck and décolleté, staying away from the eye area. Steam skin if desired. 2. Leave on for 3 minutes. 3. Remove well with a warm, moist towel. Melanoplex Drops > Suppresses melanin production, minimizes acne infections and brightens the skin. NOTE: melanoplex drops have a stinging sensation when applied after any resurfacing procedure. 1. Ice areas of acne infection, pigment or darker skin. 2. Blot the skin with a tissue, drop and spread melanoplex drops onto the forehead, each side of the face and the affected areas. 3. melanoplex drops will inhibit pigmentation, reduce inflammation and help to kill infection. 1 8 2 9 3 7 10 12 13 14 Begin application on the forehead as this is the least sensitive area. Using a cotton tip, apply a thin layer over the brow, up under the eyes, down the cheekbone and onto the chin. Apply on the nose with a downward stroke. Repeat on the other side of the face and finish the application by stroking downwards onto the neck and décolleté. DO NOT ALLOW FORMULATION TO GET INTO THE EYES, NOSTRILS OR THE CORNERS OF THE MOUTH. These delicate membrane areas will become irritated if they come into contact with the enzymes contained in pro alpha #1. 2. Occlude with cling film and a hot towel for 5 minutes. 3. Enzyme Masque #1 > Enhances optimal skin functioning by working with internal functions to increase circulation, oxygenation and lymphatic drainage. Reverse osmosis flushes through the cells, clears toxins and free radicals and stimulates collagen production. 1. Mix 2 heaped teaspoons of enzyme masque #1 with either aqua d herbs, exoderma or desquamate using the DMK fan brush into a fluffy consistency. aqua d herbs Our most common mixer is a polarised water formula containing hand soaked herbs. When mixed with enzyme masque #1, this formulation is suitable for all skins including thin, reactive and fragile skin. It has the least amount of hydrolysing. You can use this combination on a client who is using medication such as Roaccutain or Retin A. exoderma A multipurpose liquid gel derived from seaweed, exoderma can be used directly on the skin as a mini masque to lift off dry dead skin, or as an activator when mixed with enzyme masque #1. It is very good on reactive, inflamed, or dry, rough skin as it acts as a microscopic exfoliator. desquamate Mixed with enzyme masque #1, desquamate increases the hydrolysing power which breaks the surface tension and removes additional dead cell material on thicker, oilier skin. desquamate contains amino acids that sink the enzymes further into the epidermis. 2. Use the application technique described below. 5 Start at the base of the décolleté, sweep across the chest in a half circle below the collarbones and then up onto the neck. Divide the face in half, stroking upwards and outward on the jawline and moving up the cheek to under the eye. Complete the circle taking the brush up on the forehead and down on the nose. DO NOT ALLOW FORMULATION TO GET INTO THE EYES, NOSTRILS OR THE CORNERS OF THE MOUTH. 3. Leave the masque on for 45 minutes. 4. Soften the masque by applying a hot, moist towel. 5. Remove the masque by working a mix of warm water and deep pore cleanser or rinsing milk into the skin using circular strokes. You may massage with water to further soften and remove with a wet face cloth. Repeat until the masque is completely removed. 9 6 4 8 3 7 2 1 5
