Character SKIT Character: Wacky Wally (A dorky, spastic nerd who is obsessed with Post-It notes, comic books, and superheroes) (Play Wacky Wally s theme music Track #4 on the Music CD) WW: (comes running in with his arms sticking straight out, making whooshing noises like he s flying, lands behind the leader and tickles them, making them jump. Wally has a small toy bow and arrow. On his head are what looks like antennae) Hi-diddly-ho there! Leader: Wacky Wally! Hey man! You scared me! (notices the bow and arrow) Um, what s that you ve got in your hand there? WW: How fast can you run? Leader: I m kinda fast, I guess. (suddenly gets suspicious) Why? WW: Just wondering. (points the bow and arrow at the leader) Ready.Aiiiiiimmm.. Leader: WHOAH! Wally, what are you doing? WW: Stand still, and prepare to receive a big fat kiss from God, right in the face! Now where was I? Oh yeah! Ready AIIIIIIMMMM. Leader: HOLD UP! A kiss from God?? Wally, what s this all about? WW: I am no longer William Wallace Wackleberry the third! Nor am I Wacky Wally! I am the LOVE BUG! Leader: (stifles a laugh) WW: I heard that! Leader: I didn t say anything. You re the Love Bug? WW: YES! I didn t really want to dress up like Cupid because that guy flies around in a big diaper, and then I d look REDiculous. So, I am the LOVE BUG! Spreading God s love to one and all. NOW STAND STILL! Leader: (ducks and dodges out of his way) Wally, WHY are you doing this? WW: Today s Post-It Note from God! Leader: You mean, Smile, I Love You? WW: That s the one! God is always trying to tell people how much He loves them, so I figured I d help (CONTINUED ON NEXT PAGE) Lesson Five Page 42

Character SKIT (CONTINUED) Him out! I am LOVE BUG! The most romantic super-hero of all time! Ready AIIIIIIMMMMM.. Leader: (points over Wally s shoulder) Look! It s Spider-Man! WW: (gasps) Where?? (turns and runs offstage) SPIDER-MAN COME BACK! GOD LOVES YOU!! Leader: (sighs relieved, turns to address the audience) Boys and girls, you know Wally. He s obsessed with comic books and super-heroes. But I think, once again, he s a little confused. WW: (comes back onstage) I didn t see Spider-Man. Guess you ll have to do. Leader: WALLY! Hold up. You re confused again. Yes, our lesson today is Smile, God Loves You. And it s SO cool that you want to share God s love with people, but there are so many better ways of doing it. WW: Like what? Leader: Well, like you said that there are people who feel down in the world, but you can show them God s love by being nice to them, or being their friend, or just simply saying Hey, God loves you, and I love you too. WW: So no arrows to the face? Leader: Absolutely not. WW: Wow, that s WAY easier than hitting a moving target! Thanks! Hey, guess what? Smile God loves you! I ll see you later, boys and girls! These antennae are giving me a rash, anyway. LOVE BUG..er..I mean WACKY WALLY.AWAAAAAAAAAAAAAAYYYYY!!! (exits the same way as he entered, arms out, pretending to fly as his theme music plays) Lesson Five Page 43

Game Time Looking For Love Items Needed For Game: approximately twenty red paper cutouts in the shape of a heart; The Music CD Setup: prior to the service (or prior to the start of the game) have a helper hide all twenty hearts in unseen places around the room; cue one of the 1 Minute game music tracks How To Play: Choose one boy and one girl to play in this game. When you say, GO!, both try to run around the room and find as many of the hidden hearts as possible. They have sixty seconds to find as many as they can. Whoever has the most hearts at the end of the sixty seconds wins. After the game, tell the kids, Just like this game, there are a lot of people in the world looking for love. They look and look to find acceptance and love from other people and from other things other than God. That s a sad thing. Today, we are going to be learning about where we ALL should be looking for love. In GOD! Lesson Five Page 44

Materials Needed: The Data CD; a picture of you and your spouse (or your pastor and their spouse) from when you/they were dating; a large piece of red construction paper; scissors; permanent marker; a very large encyclopedia or dictionary; a large jar of sand; a large giftwrapped box with a printed picture of Jesus inside of it Preparation: Open the PowerPoint presentation on the Data CD titled Lesson Five, begin with the slide titled ; use the scissors and cut the large piece of construction paper into a large heart shape; using the permanent marker, write the word LOVE very large in the center of the heart The Message: (title slide) (put the picture of you and your spouse or your pastor and their spouse on the screen, or hold it up for everyone to see) Does anyone think they know who this is? (allow the children to respond) You give up? It s (identify who is in the photo for your children)! This was taken back when they were dating and had just fallen in LOVE!!!! (hold up the giant red heart with the word LOVE written on it; continue showing it to children as you say the next two paragraphs) Have you ever seen a couple who is CRAZY in love with each other? Aren t they funny to watch. They stare into each other s eyes. They make goo-goo ga-ga looks at each other. They call each other funny names like Sweetie Pie or Schnookums or Baby Cakes! We look at those people and laugh sometimes, don t we? They are just so CRAZY in love! It s easy to spot two people who are CRAZY in love isn t it? There s just certain things they do that totally give it away to us that they are CRAZY in love! Well, I want to tell you something today: God is even more CRAZY in love with each one of you than you can imagine! Just like it s easy to tell when a couple is CRAZY in love, there are several things we find in the Bible that shows us just how CRAZY in love God is with us! Today s Post-It Note From God says, Today, we are going to look at some of the reasons we can know for sure that God is CRAZY in love with us! 1) He Knows Everything About You (slide) It s true! God knows EVERYTHING there is to know about you. Have you ever listened to two people talk who are CRAZY in love with each other? They know every little detail about each other. (CONTINUED ON NEXT PAGE) Lesson Five Smile, I Love You Page 45

(CONTINUED) They know each other s favorite color, favorite dessert, how they like their hamburger cooked, what their favorite movie is, etc. They almost become an encyclopedia of information about that person. (hold up the Encyclopedia) Have you ever seen one of these? It has thousands and thousands of bits of information about any certain subject. You really could say that Everything you ever needed to know about a certain subject can be found in an Encyclopedia. When someone is CRAZY in love with another person, they know everything about that person and can t wait to share that information with you. Right? Well, the Bible teaches us that God knows everything about YOU! Each one of YOU!! It s true! He created you! He knew exactly what you were going to be like even before you were born. The Bible teaches us in Matthew 10:30 that He even knows the number of hairs that are on your head! WOW! God knows every single detail about you! You know why? Because He is CRAZY in love with you! He loves you more than you can imagine! 2) He Thinks About You All The Time (slide) When two people are CRAZY in love, all they can think about is each other. They can t wait until they see each other again. When they are talking on the phone they say, You hang up first! No, you hang up first! Then, when they are apart, they think about each other all the time. Did you know that God thinks about YOU all the time? It s true. (hold up the jar of sand) How many specks of sand do you think are in this one little jar? (allow the kids to answer) We don t know for sure, but definitely we can easily say thousands, right? Well, then now imagine how many grains of sands are on the shores of ALL the beaches in the world? We couldn t even count them, right? Psalm 139:17-18 says, How precious are your thoughts about me, O God. I can t even count them. They outnumber the grains of sand! WOW! God has more thoughts about you than there even grains of sand in the whole world! Why? Because He LOVES you! 3) He Enjoys Giving You Gifts (slide) When two people are CRAZY in love, they enjoy giving each other gifts. They give roses, chocolate, teddy bears, cards, jewelry, whatever they can afford. Well, God loves you so much that He enjoys giving you gifts as well! (hold up the gift-wrapped box) God gives us lots of gifts: joy, peace, protection, food, family, lots of stuff. But, God loved us so much that He gave us the greatest gift of all. (open the gift box and reveal the picture of Jesus) God loves us so much that He gave His one and only Son, Jesus, to die on a cross for us. Jesus paid the price for our sins so that we can be forgiven and go to Heaven. Isn t that amazing? (CONTINUED ON NEXT PAGE) Lesson Five Smile, I Love You Page 46

(CONTINUED) That s how much God is CRAZY in love with you! He knows everything about you! He thinks about you all the time! He loves you so much He was willing to give His only Son, Jesus, to die for you. That s why He says, SMILE! I love you! Once we receive forgiveness from Jesus, we can t help but smile! He brings us joy every single day! How great it is to know that God loves you! ALTAR RESPONSE: (play soft music) Pray with the children who need to receive Jesus as their Savior. Pray with those who have struggled to feel loved. Pray that God will show them His love, wrap His arms around them, and show them just how much they mean to Him.
