Review Jesus Christ is the second person of the Triune God. He is fully God and fully human. He was our substitute in living under the Law, that his holiness might be counted as ours. He was our substitute under the curse of the law, that his punishment might clear away our debt to God. Jesus is our Savior through his obedience.. List the steps of Jesus active obedience: First, He lived as our Substitute. God credits his holiness to our account. God made him who had no sin to be sin for us so that in him we might become the righteousness of God. 2 Corinthians 5:21 This is called Jesus Active obedience, or what He did himself. Jesus also died_ as our Substitute. 1. God put all our sin on him. 2. He gave his life as a ransom payment for all. He is the atoning sacrifice, not only for our sins but for the sins of the whole world. 1 John 2:2 This is called Jesus passive obedience, or what he allowed to be done to Him. 1

Why did Jesus humble himself? To be like us a human The Bible tells us that Jesus didn t make use of all his heavenly power and glory in order to save us. Jesus Exaltation The First Step: The Descent into _Hell. Jesus descended into hell, not to Not to offer the damned a second chance (Hebrews 9:27). Not to destroy the devil (Colossians 2:13-15). Not to suffer (John 19:30). but to proclaim _His victory! The 3 rd Step: The Ascension The ascension happened 40 days after the resurrection The ascension proves: He is again present everywhere. I am with you always Matthew 28:20 In my Father's house are many rooms; if it were not so, I would have told you. I am going there to prepare a place for you. 3 And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come back and take you to be with me that you also may be where I am. John 14:2 He is preparing a place for us. He will return in the same way that he departed. Men of Galilee," they said, "why do you stand here looking into the sky? This same Jesus, who has been taken from you into heaven, will come back in the same way you have seen him go into heaven. Acts 1:11-12 4
