Toronto Catholic District School Board Year 3 Witness Eucharist

P E N I T E N T I A L R I T E As we come together to celebrate, we are mindful of our call to leadership from our God, and of our need for God s encouragement and strength. Holy One, you sent Jesus to be our teacher and guide. Lord, Have Mercy Holy One, help us to lead with good judgment, generosity, and care. Christ, Have Mercy Holy One, strengthen us for mission: healing, teaching, liberating. Lord, Have Mercy May Almighty God have mercy on us, forgive us our faults and failings, and bring us one day to everlasting life. Amen.

Collect Loving God, the baptism that has made us sisters and brothers has commissioned us to be witnesses in our world. In all we say and do, we witness to your presence in our daily lives, and all things are held together in your love. May our words and actions be ones of welcome and affirmation. In our witnessing may we, as best we can, act justly, love tenderly, and walk humbly with you, our God, and one another. Let our care for one another be a sign of Christ s love for us all. In your wisdom guide us now, and always, through Christ our Lord. Amen

Prayers of the Faithful Response: God of Our Journey, Hear Our Prayer 1. That we might be inspired to witness without favour and to report oppression and violence without fear. 2. That we might stand by the innocent and defend the right, and to always encourage the good. 3. In gratitude for those who have inspired us by their witness to the Gospel message. 4. That we might strive always to say yes to being peacemakers, yes to living simply, and yes to seeing Jesus in others. 5. That we might be open and accepting of the witness of our students as they strive to be followers of Jesus Christ. 6. For our own personal intentions (pause)

p r a y e r o v e r t h e o f f e r i n g s Accept this bread and wine, O God. As we gather here, around your table, may we be your people, committed to witnessing to your kingdom in justice, peace, and love. Together we ask this through Christ our Lord. Amen

E U C H A R I S T I C P R A Y E R I I The Lord Be With You. And With Your Spirit. Lift Up Your Hearts. We Lift Them Up to the Lord. Let Us Give Thanks to the Lord our God. It is Right and Just. It is truly right and just, our duty and our salvation, always and everywhere to give you thanks, Father most holy, through your beloved Son, Jesus Christ, your Word through whom you made all things, whom you sent as our Saviour and Redeemer, incarnate by the Holy Spirit and born of the Virgin. Fulfilling your will and gaining for you a holy people, he stretched out his hands as he endured his Passion, so as to break the bonds of death and manifest the resurrection. and won for you a holy people. And so, with the Angels and all the Saints we declare your glory, as with one voice we acclaim:

Holy, Holy, Holy Lord... You are indeed Holy, O Lord, the fount of all holiness. Make holy, therefore, these gifts, we pray, by sending down your Spirit upon them like the dewfall, so that they may become for us the Body and Blood of our Lord Jesus Christ. At the time he was betrayed and entered willingly into his Passion, he took bread and giving thanks, broke it, and gave it to his disciples, saying: TAKE THIS, ALL OF YOU, AND EAT OF IT, FOR THIS IS MY BODY, WHICH WILL BE GIVEN UP FOR YOU. In a similar way, when supper was ended, he took the chalice and, once more giving thanks, he gave it to his disciples, saying: TAKE THIS, ALL OF YOU, AND DRINK FROM IT, FOR THIS IS THE CHALICE OF MY BLOOD, THE BLOOD OF THE NEW AND ETERNAL,

COVENANT, WHICH WILL BE POURED OUT FOR YOU AND FOR MANY FOR THE FORGIVENESS OF SINS. DO THIS IN MEMORY OF ME. The mystery of faith. 1) We proclaim your Death, O Lord, and profess your Resurrection until you come again. Or 2)When we eat this Bread and drink this Cup, we proclaim your Death O Lord, until you come again or 3)Save us, Saviour of the world, for by your Cross and Resurrection you have set us free. Therefore, as we celebrate the memorial of his Death and Resurrection, we offer you, Lord, the Bread of life and the Chalice of salvation, giving thanks that you

have held us worthy to be in your presence and minister to you. Humbly we pray that, partaking of the Body and Blood of Christ, we may be gathered into one by the Holy Spirit. Remember, Lord, your Church, spread throughout the world, and bring her to the fullness of charity, together with N. our Pope, and N. our Bishop and all the clergy. Remember also our brothers and sisters who have fallen asleep in the hope of the resurrection, and all who have died in your mercy: welcome them into the light of your face. Have mercy on us all, we pray, that with the Blessed Virgin Mary, Mother of God, with the blessed Apostles, and all the Saints who have pleased you throughout the ages, we may merit to be co-heirs to eternal life, and may praise and glorify you through your Son, Jesus Christ.

Through him, and with him, and in him, O God, almighty Father, in the unity of the Holy Spirit, all glory and honour is yours, for ever and ever. Amen.

p r a y e r a f t e r c o m m u n i o n Almighty God, nourished by your Word and Sacrament, inspire us to witness without favour. Send us forth to bring your Good News to those who hunger for a word of hope, to those who long to be accepted. Send us forth with eyes open to the beauty of your creation, the sight of your face in the face of the stranger, the right words of support to those in pain. Send us in peace and joy, that we might be your joyful presence and your redeeming compassion. As your witnesses, may we bring your presence to a waiting world. Together we ask this in the name of Jesus the Lord. Amen
