PROGRAMS OF CARE For various soft tissue injuries and occupational diseases May be directly referred to by a family physician Evidence-based health care delivery plan Health care professional assesses the injured worker and provides treatment, education and self-management strategies 3

SPECIALTY CLINICS Hospital-based clinics which provide specialised assessments and rehabilitation for workers Specialty Clinics are multidisciplinary and involve experts in specific fields Specific criteria for admission into the programs 4

SPECIALTY CLINICS Specialty Clinics include: Amputee Program Back and Neck Program Burn Program Function and Pain Program Lower Extremity Program Mental Health Program Neurology Program Occupational Disease Program Substance Management Program Surgical Program Upper Extremity Program 5

LOW BACK EXPERT PHYSICIAN EXAMINER ASSESSMENTS Early and prompt intervention Detailed, focussed and comprehensive clinical assessment Evidence-based treatment and return to work recommendations Discussion with both the worker and the treating health professional Ensure an early, safe and sustainable return to work 6

EXPEDITED REC ASSESSMENTS Collaboration between Health Services and Service Delivery with regards to expedited comprehensive assessments at REC Following the assessment the worker is provided with a summary report At the time of the assessment a Work Transition Specialist reviews work issues and concerns 8

CONCLUSION Migrant workers who are injured on the job in Ontario are entitled to Health Care which is in line with other injured workers in Ontario They also have access to similar resources including medications Expedited REC referrals are available when an assessment is required prior to worker leaving the country Staff Physicians are available to speak with treating physicians if required 10
