Twos February 13-14, February 20-21, and February 27-28 Jesus feeds 5000 Beginner s Bible (pp. 374-379) Jesus gives us what we need. Every classroom is different, so you can adjust this schedule to fit you needs. Just make sure you have time for Large Group and Small Group activities. 15 minutes 5 minutes 10 minutes 10 minutes 10 minutes 10 minutes Check in and play time Clean up toys Snack time Large Group lesson Small Group activity Play and clean up time As you check in kids, be sure to ask parents if their kids are potty-trained or are working on it. And so you know - if there is an "accident" we've got some clothes available to send them home in. Not sure where to find clothes? Call the Info Center to have someone help you. The number should be posted in your room. Model what you want kids to do! It takes a lot of repetition for two-year-olds to grasp a concept, so when they see you do something yourself (for example, sharing a toy with someone) it will help them learn it too. Today we ll talk about the miracles of Jesus feeding 5000 people with only a couple loaves of bread and some fish! Jesus gives us what we need, even when it seems impossible!

No connect time

Goal: Help kids understand God s story in a language they understand. Why? We want kids to believe that God loves them, and a great way to do that is to help them experience stories about how much he loves us! Tip: Help kids focus on Jesus today by helping them relate to him. He had friends, and we do too! ACTIVITY 1 Supplies needed: People, fish and bread cutouts. Spread out 20 people cutouts across the table. Then hand each kid 2 fish cutouts and 5 bread cutouts. Let kids lay the fish and bread out on the table. Have them pretend like they re handing out the fish and bread to all the people from the story. Encourage them to try to give food to every person on the table. Remind kids that Jesus did something amazing with just 5 loaves of bread and 2 fish. He fed 5000 people with just a tiny bit of food! ACTIVITY 2 Supplies needed: coloring page and crayons Hand each kid a coloring page. As kids color their page, ask: o Did Jesus feed 5000 people? (Yes) o Does Jesus give us what we need too? (Yes)

1 Tell kids about a time when Jesus gave you what you needed! Just make sure it s something they can grasp. In the script, you ll have kids follow your actions. Have them stay seated for this part, so that they can actively interact while also not wandering away and getting distracted. INTRO Hi everybody! It s so good to see you today. This is the Bible, and it s a very special book! (Show the Bible to kids) It s all about God, and how much he loves us. God loves me (Point to yourself) and God loves you! (Point to kids) God loves us so much, that he sent someone to rescue us from all the sad things in the world. That rescuer is Jesus! Can you say Jesus? (Let kids respond.) Good job. Jesus lived on earth, so that he could be close to us. Can you give yourself a big hug to show that Jesus wants to be close to you? (Let kids respond.) Good job. Jesus also came so that he could give us what need! Let s read a story about how Jesus gave 5000 people what they needed! Read pages 374-379 in the Beginners Bible. REVIEW Everybody was really hungry. Can you rub your tummy and pretend like you re hungry? (Respond along with kids.) They needed food, but there wasn t any around. (Act sad.) But guess what? There was a little boy who had 5 loaves of bread, and 2 fish. (Hold up the basket with 5 bread images and 2 fish images. Count each item and lay it on the floor/table.) He wanted to share his food with everyone, but there was a big problem. Do you think this food could feed 5000 people? (Respond along with kids, No! ) No way! Luckily, Jesus was there! Jesus can do anything, because he s our rescuer. He can give us whatever we need. So he took the fish, and he took the bread (show the cutouts again) and turned it into enough food for EVERYONE! (Spread your hands out wide.) ENGAGE Jesus gives us we need too! Can Jesus give us food? (Yes!) Can Jesus give us love? (Yes!) Can Jesus help us when we re scared? (Yes!) Yep, Jesus can give us exactly we need, no

matter what. PRAY Dear God. Thank you for giving us what we need. We re glad you came to rescue us. Amen!
