The Relationship of Intuition & Intellect to Foods & Eating Intuitive eating Nourishment of the brain and mood Eating to enhance concentration and perception 25
Becoming an intuitive eater March to inner hunger signals without guilt Research shows that toddlers are able to gauge intake by growth Leann Birch, PhD: parents attempts to control their child s eating were reported more often by obese adults than by adults of normal weight. Clean your plate What messages did we hear as a child about eating? How do we continue those messages in our lives? 26

Case Study #1 What is (are) the major complaint(s)? 1. Tiredness/ not feeling as vital as possible 2. Addictions- coffee, stimulants/depressants 3. Not feeling ok with body Copyright 2013 Food & Spirit 33
Their Story A few years ago I started sleeping in a lot, even until midday. Since then I have struggled to get back to early rising and sustain energy all day. Another side effect of over sleeping was depression, around this same time I also started using cannabis on an almost daily basis and I ve had a yoyo relationship with it ever since where I either smoke every day or not at all. I also find I need to drink coffee daily as a stimulant. I would like to have the self-control to moderate it and have a little bit now and then as I enjoy it but be strong enough to not have it everyday. I feel like by doing that I could be healthier in my body. Copyright 2013 Food & Spirit 34
