12 PAINTING BLACKLIGHT PRESENTATION: GOD S LOVE Note: This type of presentation is useful when you are asked to speak to a large audience like a camp or a vacation Bible school. You are able to increase the size of your painting for better visibility, and are not limited to one painting while speaking on a theme. You can use as many paintings as you need. This type of presentation has been generally well received by audiences. Note: The narration is suggested, but feel free to make it your own story. Note: All Bible quotes are from the New American Standard Bible (NASB). Note: The presentation will go more smoothly if the words on each painting, and the Scripture quotations are memorized. PAINTING #1 GOD S LOVE 1 John 4:8 tells us that God is love, (Paint in LOVE on the banner). The word in itself has no meaning unless there is someone to love. The big question is, who does God love?

PAINTING #2 God s Word, the Bible is very clear (Paint in GOD LOVES): God loves people. In other words, God Loves (Paint in US on the sign post). He says so. In John 3:16, it is written For God so loved the world that he gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him will not perish but have eternal life. God makes clear that he loves every person on this planet, and wants to connect with us. The big question is how does God show Himself to us?

PAINTING #3 Romans 1:20 tells us For since the creation of the world His invisible attributes, His eternal power and divine nature, have been clearly seen, being understood through what has been made NASB. In other words, God has shown himself in (Paint in IN WHAT HE HAS MADE). There are a lot of things I could tell you about on how God has done this, but let me share one that is very simple. In August 2017, we are going to get a rare treat in North America: a full solar eclipse. That means the moon will pass in front of the sun and completely block it out. (Start painting in the solar disk using black paint) What makes that possible is that to us the sun and the moon appear to be the same exact size. How can that be, since the sun is 400 times larger than the moon? That s because the sun is 400 times further away from us than the moon is, making them appear exactly the same size. Those who know math would say the chances of that happening are impossible! What is God saying to us, in this and in many other examples? God is telling us (Paint in I M HERE! on the sign post), and if you don t listen to me, you have no excuse (Romans 1:20). Did people listen to God once He showed Himself? Let me tell you a sad story.

PAINTING #4 Our sad story is found in Romans 1 in the Bible: 1:20 tells us that everyone knew about God (Paint in GOD in the top right box) because he showed Himself 1:21 tells us that even though they knew Him they did not want Him 1:23-25 They foolishly left God and made up their own gods after what they wanted, and started to worship created things rather than the Creator 1:25 In other words the human race said no (paint in no ) to God and went in their own direction, away from God

PAINTING #5 As Satan (the devil) invited the first man and woman (Adam and Eve) to leave God, so he still invites people to do that to day. To leave God and disobey Him is called sin. Satan asks us do you want to (Paint in SIN? on the sign post) sin and do what you want to do? Every human being has said yes (Paint in YES in bubble), because the Bible says For all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God. Romans 3:23. As we move away from God, we don t look for what lies ahead. (point to the red glow on the horizon) Consequences that will come!

PAINTING #6 There are always consequences to the things we do. Raise your hand if you know what consequences are? (Tell a personal story about how you experienced consequences as a child). The Bible tells us that the consequences of sin will last forever. Romans 6:23 tells us that the wages of sin death In other words, (Paint in SIN = DEATH in the flames) Why we get old and die is part of that, but the most important part of that, is that if nothing is done about sin, we will be cut off from God forever in a place called Hell. How does God show His love (paint in LOVE? on left sign post) when he is tells us about Hell? In the fact that he warns (Paint in WARNS on right hand sign post) us so we won t have to go there. The Old Testament part of the Bible would have been a lot shorter if God said OK, I warned you once, now you re dead! But the fact is that he warned his people time and time again, so that they would not have to be punished, but when they continued to disobey, then God had to keep his word. They were examples of what we should not do. God shows us another way in which he loves us.

PAINTING #7 God show his love because he speaks it in His Word (Paint in LOVE SPOKEN) The Bible is the way God speaks to us directly. In it He tells us what is (Paint in RIGHT) and what is (paint in WRONG). Those 2 things are told us in God s Law or Commandments in the Old Testament. In the New Testament, we find out what His plan is for us in taking away the sin problem, so that we can go to Heaven, and live a better life here as well. God show His love further to us in how He carries out His plan for us!

PAINTING #8 Romans 5:8 (Write above Christ s head) tells us But God demonstrates His own love towards us, in that while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us. (Paint in LOVE DEMONSTRATED) Let s look how God demonstrated His love for us: He is the same thing as God, having created this universe and even holds it together (Col 1:1-17) Yet he let his own creation nail Him to a cross, in which he took the consequences of our sin on himself, so we could be saved from the punishment of God (Romans 5:9) They beat him (paint in blood on his body) They made fun of him as being king, by putting a crown of thorns on his head (In green paint, put in crown of thorns and blood) They nailed him to a cross (Paint in nails and blood) for us. John 1:7 tells us and the blood of Jesus, His son, cleanses us from all sin Why did Jesus do this? He did it out of love for you and for me. We have already seen the first part of Romans 6:23 For the wages of sin is death but the second part tells us what was done on the cross.. but the free gift of is eternal life in Jesus Christ our Lord. How do we know that Christ sacrifice would work?

PAINTING #9 Let s find out how His (paint in LOVE IS PROVEN) love is proven by the fact that He did not stay dead, but rose from the dead, just as He said He would. A Roman guard and a huge stone rolled across the door could not stop Him. (paint in yellow in the doorway and the arrow in red pointing up) The angels announced to some women who came to the tomb, that He had risen, and that they would see him, which they did as well as his disciples and many others. The fact that Christ rose from the dead, proved that everything he said and did was true! So that leaves us with a choice (paint in CHOICE on the sign post) Remember there were 2 criminals crucified with Christ. One asked Jesus for nothing, the other said Remember me when you come into your kingdom and Jesus told him truly today you shall be with Me in Paradise Luke 23:43 NASB. One criminal said yes to Jesus, the other said no. What is your choice?

PAINTING #10 Your sin was nailed to the cross of Jesus (Paint in SIN on the cross ) Will you say (Paint in YES? ) or will you say (Paint in NO? ) What is your choice? We do have a choice. John 3:36 tells us;(paint John 3:36 in the cloud) He who believes in the Son has eternal life (Choice #1) but he that does not obey the Son will not see life, but the wrath of God abides on him (choice #2). Again, what is your choice?

PAINTING #11 The Bible makes it very clear that there is only one way to heaven (Paint in HEAVEN and 1 WAY on the sign post ) Jesus said so. I am the way, and the truth, and the life; no one comes to the Father but through me. (John 14:6 ). He also said: I am the door; if anyone enters through me, he will be saved (John 10:9). Will you follow Jesus? Jesus said My sheep hear my voice and I know them, and the follow me, and I give eternal life to them, and they will never perish; and no one will snatch them out of my hand. (John 10:27-28). That is His promise to you. Will you come and follow Him?

PAINTING #12 I have written in the balloons some actions steps to take if you want to trust Jesus as your savior which include questions you need to ask your self. (Paint in the words, as you come to them, in the balloons.) Do you BELIEVE in Jesus, that He is the savior, having died for your sins and risen from the dead to prove it. As the Bible says Believe in the Lord Jesus and you will be saved (Acts 16:31) Will you TURN away from your sins and turn to Jesus and let him wash your sine away? Therefore repent and return that your sins might be wiped away (Acts 3:19) Will you ASK Him to be your savior? That if you confess with your mouth Jesus as Lord and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved (Romans 10:9) Will you TAKE him now as your savior? But as many as received Him, to them he gave the right to become the children of God, even to those who believe in his Name (John 1:12) Using this list as a guide, invite those listening to invite Christ to be their savior. If appropriate, invite them to raise their hands and perhaps come forward in response, inviting counselors to talk with them further.
