Customers can be categorized into three groups according to their answer to this likelihood to recommend question (based on a 0-to-10 point rating scale): Promoters (those who answer 9 or 10) are loyal enthusiasts who will keep buying from your company and who urge others to do the same, fueling your growth. Passives (those who answer 7 or 8) are satisfied but unenthusiastic customers who are more vulnerable to competitive offerings. Detractors (those who answer 0 through 6) are unhappy customers who may be buying for the wrong reasons (e.g., they are trapped), and who can damage your brand and impede growth through negative referrals.
