About ACORD s Products & Services ACORD Insurance Industry Standards ACORD develops and maintains data standards and standardized forms for the insurance industry that serve specific lines of business: Life & Annuity (including disability, long-term care, and other mortality & morbidity products), non-life Property & Casualty (including all types of personal and commercial lines), Reinsurance, and Common Services (shared standards that cross lines and geographies). ACORD develops standards for both global and targeted regional or national use. This catalog is organized primarily by line of business. Guides, tools and services related to standards implementation are listed in separate sections and cross-referenced with the lines they support. ACORD Framework The ACORD Framework is a group of five interrelated models (called facets) that individually present unique perspectives on key aspects of the insurance industry. Collectively, they define the entire industry value chain. The five facets are a Business Glossary, a Capability Model, an Information Model, a Data Model and a Component Model. Taken as a whole, the ACORD Framework forms a basis for standards development that is flexible enough to cross lines of business and geographic borders and provide the industry with a unified approach to understanding insurance data exchange. ACORD Forms ACORD Forms are used by agents, distributors and brokers, and solution providers. They are supported by insurers, reinsurers and regulatory bodies. Standardized ACORD Forms streamline workflows, reduce errors and increase efficiency. There are currently more than 800 ACORD Forms for Property, Casualty and Surety and for Life, Annuity, and Health lines. In the U.S. ACORD monitors state and federal insurance regulatory activity and updates the forms to ensure compliance. 4
