Effective contract management for university non-grant and sponsored contracts Mission The mission of Business Services is to care for the University through effective risk and contract management. 3
GOAL 1: All staff, faculty, and students actively practice risk management and loss avoidance 1. Objective a. Action Item Target Date Responsible Resources needed 1. Develop an education plan to educate staff, faculty, and students on mitigating risk and loss. The education plan should address: a. Describe areas in which staff, faculty, and students benefit from risk management (e.g., sexual harassment) Plan in place by July 2013 Updates are ongoing Laura Vine and Tim Kellogg M.U.S.I.C. b. Explain how a loss could personally affect members of the WMU community (e.g., financial and career implications) c. Demonstrate what they can do to mitigate losses d. Positive feedback from University for contract flow and process improvements. Populate Business Services website with useful Risk Management information and update what is currently there. Operational Perspective Complete Risk Assessment for emerging risks and discuss with departments. Continue leadership role in M.U.S.I.C. Improve rent revenue stream by 5-10% annually. 6
