Page: 2 of 5 31 May 06 Backup Process SafeComs utilizes the proven industry standard backup rotation strategy known as Grandfather Father Son (GFS). Through GFS, we are able to maintain a constant and consistent series of daily, weekly, and monthly backups of your data. In detail, GFS is a strategy of Full and Differential backups to efficiently and effectively protect your data. In this strategy, SafeComs perform a regular Full backup of all files (weekly), then a more frequent Differential backup (daily) of all files that have changed since the last full backup session. At the end of each month, a Full backup is archived for that month. The monthly Full backup is maintained for one year in our vault. A Full backup copies all the selected data files on the computer. With a full backup of your data set on tape, SafeComs can restore all your selected data if a disaster destroys the original files. A Differential backup copies all files that have been added or changed since the last Full backup job. This Full/Differential backup method helps the restore process run more efficiently, because only one full backup disk/tape and one differential backup disk/tape are required for a complete restore of your required data. Backup Schedule Example Approximate Time & Resources Used per Week Day Type of Backup Data Size Backup Time No. of Drives Monday Differential 0.5 GB 12 min 1 Tuesday Full 34.8 GB 2.2 hours 1 Wednesday Differential 0.5 GB 12 min 1 Thursday Differential 1.0 GB 13 min 1 Friday Differential 1.0 GB 13 min 1 Saturday Differential 1.4 GB 16 min 1 Sunday Differential 1.4 GB 16 min 1 Total: 40.6 GB 3.5 hours 1 SafeComs Engineer Working for You Week Time On-Site Travel Time In-Office Time Total Week 1.25 hour 1 hour 1 hour 2.25 hours Week 2.25 hour 1 hour 1 hour 2.25 hours Week 3.25 hour 1 hour 1 hour 2.25 hours Week 4.25 hour 1 hour 1 hour 2.25 hours Total: 1 hour 4 hours 4 hours 9 hours

Because data files change every time someone enters new information, SafeComs performs a backup of your data files every day (only those files that have changed) and then performs a complete backup of the entire system on a weekly basis. The specific servers and workstations that are being backed-up for you are: Server Backup Summary Name IP Address Drives System State Server01 10.168.0.1 D, E System State SafeComs refers to the below system components as the System State data. The exact system components that make up your server s System State data depend on the server s operating system and configuration: Registry COM+ Class Registration database Boot files, including the system files Certificate Services database Active Directory directory service SYSVOL directory Cluster service information IIS Metadirectory System files that are under Windows File Protection Workstation Backup Summary Name IP Address Email My Documents CEO 10.168.0.21 Accounting01 10.168.0.22 MKT-Joe 10.168.0.23 MKT-Jieb 10.168.0.24 Somchai 10.168.0.25
