Nyhamna onshore contract Framework agreement between A/S Norske Shell and Kvaerner. Engineering, procurement, construction and management (EPCM). Modifications and projects at the Ormen Lange/Nyhamna onshore facilities. Contract value: NOK 11 billion. Duration: 6 years, with options of 2+2 years. The largest onshore contract awarded in Norway in 2012. Aker Solutions deliver engineering, modification work and procurement services. Slide 5

Nyhamna Expansion is based on 2 decisions Pressure in the Ormen Lange Reservoir is declining In order to maintain the export volumes, Booster Compression is required Slide 6

Nyhamna Expansion is based on 2 decisions, cont. Nyhamna has been decided to be the new Gas HUB for Norway The new Polarled Pipeline from Aasta Hansteen will be brought ashore at Nyhamna; Several other fields are considered for being tied in to the Polarled Pipeline; The Polarled Pipeline also has a Polar Tee where Snøhvit or other northern fields could tie in in the future. Regulations in the petroleum activity The Petroleum Safety Authority (PSA) is the government regulator for the petroleum activities, enforcing the following regulations: The Framework regulation. The overriding regulation, giving the general requirements to how HSE shall be ensured. Little specific relevance for engineering. The Management regulation. This regulation gives obligations the operator has in terms of management and duty to provide information. Little specific relevance for engineering. Slide 11

Regulations in the petroleum activity, cont. The Facilities regulation. This regulation specifies the requirements to design and outfitting of offshore facilities. Through its guidelines it is the foundation for use of all the NORSOK standards in the offshore petroleum activities. Not applicable for onshore plants. The Activity regulation. This regulation gives specific HSE requirements for offshore petroleum activities. Little specific relevance for engineering, and not applicable for onshore plants. The Technical and Operational regulation. Regulates technical and operational matters for onshore facilities in the petroleum activities. Contrary to the Facilities regulation it does not, with three exceptions, specify the use of NORSOK standards. Slide 12

Steel structures: Onshore plants vs. offshore facilities Design Onshore plants - general Eurocodes (NS-EN 1990 to NS-EN 1999) Offshore facilities NORSOK N-001, N-003 and N-004 - lifting equipment NORSOK R-002 NORSOK R-002 Constituent products NS-EN 1090-2 NORSOK M-120 and other M-standards Execution NS-EN 1090-2 NORSOK M-101 Conformity assessment NS-EN 1090-1 - Slide 13

Offshore steels: Prevented for use in onshore plants NS-EN 10225:2009 Stringent requirements on weldable structural steels; Used for fixed offshore structures; Plate, section and hollow section product forms; Basis for material data sheets (MDS) in NORSOK M-120 for steel quality levels I and II. NS-EN 1993-1-1:2005/NA:2008 The standard applies for those steel grades specified in Table 3.1 : NS-EN 10025 NS-EN 10210 NS-EN 10219 Hence, the National Annex prevents the use of offshore steels. Slide 14

Nyhamna Expansion is a Brownfield project Key conditions and basic guidelines: Minimisation of hot work at site, with associated effects on the overall safety during operation of a live plant. General minimisation of work at the live plant - driven by Safety and Cost aspects. Tie-in to existing plant to demand minimum duration of Plant Shutdown. In general only one shutdown is planned (2015). Reduced access for large cranes - driven by practical limitations such as access for transport, rigging and operation (with large counterweights). Limits the method for heavy module installations to the use of Self Propelled Modularized Trailers (SPMTs) in combination with jacking. Modularisation Slide 15

Over 50 pre-assembled modules Pre-assembled modules: Comprising process equipment (if relevant), piping, cabling, instruments, within a steel frame. Painting, fireproofing and insulation all completed and as many inspections and tests as possible completed. EPC contractor will normally have undertaken all of the design and procurement, with free issue of equipment and materials to the module yard. Largest module over 1000 tonnes dry installed structural weight. Slide 16

Design of pipe racks Hollow section lattice structures H-sections in transverse support frames in highly loaded cases Pratt type in vertical trusses Warren type in plan trusses Secondary bracing to support piping Gap joints where possible Equal width of chord and braces (β = 1) in primary structure joints Slide 17

Gusset plate joint design Rule based design based on geometry of incoming brace Automated 3D modelling Implemented in KBeDesign: KBeJoint Gusset KBeDesign A world class platform for engineering automation and best practise re-use Slide 18

Verification of existing structures Increase in permanent and variable actions: New structures supported by existing structures. New Increase in accidental actions (i.e. explosion): New structures condensing areas; Increased number of leakage points; From far-field to near-field explosion. Existing Increase in design explosion pressure Slide 19
