SECTION 1. Introduction Introduction The NEMA 4X Instrument and Accessory Enclosure for Anatel s Access 643 and A-1000 S10 Stationary Sensor meets the universally accepted NEMA 4X specification for environmental protection, as well as Type 12 and Type 4 NEMA ratings. The enclosure, crafted of high-grade stainless steel, is sealed to withstand hose directed water. The shatter-proof window provides for visual inspection of the inside of the enclosure through the closed door. Sensors inside the enclosure detect power failures, ground fault interruptions, out of limit temperatures, and water leaks. When these conditions occur the red warning indicator flashes and power to the enclosure is turned off until the problems are corrected. The temperature sensor trips the flashing alarm when ambient temperature reaches 50 C. It automatically resets when the temperature cools to 35 C. The liquid sensor detects liquid that accumulates on the floor of the box. The flashing alarm LED is easily seen through the window in the door when indicating any of these conditions. A remote alarm connection is also provided to allow monitoring alarm conditions from a more convenient distant location. A lockable, cantilevered bracket on which the instrument is mounted swings away from the enclosure to allow for convenient testing and maintenance of the instrument. One 1/4 inch inlet connection and one 1/8 outlet connection are provided for the instruments, and one 3/8 inlet connection and one 1/4 outlet connection are provided for the heat exchanger, if that option is chosen. The installation kit includes properly sized adapters for installing either the Access 643 or the A-1000 S10 instruments with or without the heat exchanger option. Accessories available from Anatel for the NEMA 4X Instrument and Accessory Enclosure include a C80 Controller, a local printer, and digital analog convertor (DAC) modules to monitor temperature or conductivity, or both may be used to monitor temperature and conductivity of sample water. Where sample water exceeds 40 C the NEMA 4X may be equipped with an integrated heat exchanger which requires industrial cold water (ICW). The heat exchanger allows for testing sample water with temperatures above 40 C and up to 99 C. NEMA 4X USER GUIDE Page 6
SECTION 1. Introduction Components of the NEMA 4X include: 1. AC Power Terminal. The AC Power Terminal is used to connect the box to 120 VAC power. 2. Power Distribution Box. The power distribution box with AC switch, GFCI protected outlet, and electronics connection. The GFCI breaker protects all other outlets in the NEMA 4X box. The power distribution box houses no user serviceable parts. 2. Power Distribution Box 3. Power Connector Block 4. Air Circulation Fan 1. AC Power Terminal 5. Heat Exchanger 6. Remote Alarm Connector Block 3. Power Connector Block. The power connector block provides power outlets for all accessories. 4. Air Circulation Fan. Air is circulated within the box by the fan to mix the air and allow continuous heat transfer out of the box through its surface. 5. Heat Exchanger. The optional heat exchanger is factory installed. 6. Remote Alarm Connector Block. A remote alarm connector block provides a 10 ma, 5V maximum source for connecting either an audible or visual alarm monitoring. NEMA 4X USER GUIDE Page 7
SECTION 2. Installation NEMA 4X Installation tion Enclosure Anatel recommends that the NEMA 4X Instrument and Accessory Enclosure be mounted on a wall or specially built stand. The enclosure weighs over 100 pounds empty and over 118 pounds when all instruments are installed and requires a substantial mounting structure. The floor of the box should be level when the box is mounted. 28.5 When mounting, provide a minimum of a 1 standoff from the wall to allow for air circulation behind the enclosure. 1. Mounting. The back of the enclosure has four holes to be used for mounting bolts in the pattern shown at the right. The holes are.438 in diameter to accommodate 3/8 bolts. Bolts must be stainless steel and sealing washers must be used to maintain the NEMA rating. 28.5 Mounting bolt pattern. 2. Plumbing connections for units without a heat exchanger. If a heat exchanger is not used, the holes provided to access the water connections for the heat exchanger will be plugged. Connect sample water to the Instrument sample IN fitting shown in the diagram on the right. Connect the Water OUT fitting to a tube to the drain. 3. Plumbing connections for units equipped with a heat exchanger. If a heat exchanger is used the sample water must circulate through it for cooling before it is analyzed. Connect the ICW to the ICW IN and ICW OUT ports to circulate cold water through the heat exchanger. Connect the sample water to the Water sample IN fitting of the heat exchanger. Connect the Water sample OUT port to the Instrument sample IN port using the preshaped tubing with appropriate fittings found in the installation kit. SECTION 2. Installation 4. Electrical connections. The NEMA 4X Enclosure requires a 120 VAC, 50/60 Hz supply. Make connections through the conduit on the left side of the enclosure (see photo). The circuit is protected with a 15A circuit breaker. AC input Electrical connection Power must be connected through the NMP 1/2 liquid tight conduit fitting using the appropriate conduit type (supplied by the buyer) to maintain the NEMA 4X rating. Power connection fitting. Connect to the terminal block according to the diagram on the right. Ground is connected at (the earth symbol), neutral at N, and line at L. Two of the terminals are not used and labeled as such. Not Used N Not Used L AC power terminal block connections diagram. NEMA 4X USER GUIDE Page 9
SECTION 2. Installation 5. ANET and remote alarm. Access for cables for the ANET connection and a cable for a remote alarm is also on the left side of the enclosure. Cables must be passed through the NMP 1/2 liquid tight conduit fitting using liquid tight conduit (supplied by the buyer) to maintain the NEMA 4X rating. Connect the remote alarm to the terminal provided in the box. ANET and remote alarm input conduit ANET and remote alarm. Installing the TOC Analyzer The NEMA 4X enclosure is compatible with the Access 643 and the A-1000 S10 and A-1000 XP Stationary Sensors. Mount the TOC analyzer of your choice on the hinged instrument mounting panel inside the enclosure. Each instrument requires different mounting screw locations shown in the photos at the right. SECTION 2. Installation The installation kit includes two 1/8 diameter socket shoulder screws (8-32 x 1/2 ) to be installed in the upper holes of the instrument mounting panel. Install these screws in the appropriate locations and hang the instrument on the panel by its upper brackets. Socket shoulder screw. Install a 10-24 x 1/2 phillips head screw from the installation kit in the two lower brackets to secure the instrument. Connect the water sample line to the 1/4 inlet (labeled: Instrument sample IN) and 1/8 outlet (labeled: Water OUT) stainless steel compression fittings. The Access 643 Analyzer connections match these fittings. The A-1000 S10 outlet fitting requires a 1/4 to 1/8 adapter fitting to make the connection. All necessary fittings and tubing are included in the installation kit. (See the Anatel Access 643 TOC Analyzer User Guide or the A-1000 TOC Analysis System User Guide for more information.) Screws installed in lower brackets. NEMA 4X USER GUIDE Page 11
SECTION 2. Installation Optional Component Installation tion 1. Component location. The C80 Controller, local printer, and digital analog converters are located as in the photo on the right. Refer to component wiring connections on page 13. DACs C80 Controller Local printer Location of optional components. 2. C80 Controller. Insert the power cord, communications cable, and mounting clamp through the face of the bracket on the back of the NEMA 4X Enclosure. (See the photos on the right.)
