5. Configuring A mailbox This section guides you through the various steps for setting up your mailbox. 5.1 Configuring Outlook Express Here is how to configure your mailbox, so that you are able to use your new e-mail address. 1. Click on Start > Programs > Outlook Express. 2. Click on Tools > Accounts... 3
3. Click on the Mail tab > Add > Mail... 4. Enter your whole name. This name will appear in the emails you send. Click on Next. 4
5. Enter your e-mail address. The one that the Customer Service Department gave you. Click on Next. 6. In this window: - Select the incoming mail server type POP3. - Enter the Incoming mail server: pop1.ntl.sympatico.ca - Enter the Outgoing mail server: smtp1.ntl.sympatico.ca - Click on Next. 5
7. In this window: - Enter your account name (User name). Example: t1xxxx99 or b1xxxx99. - Enter your password. - You can also check Remember password. - Click on Next. 8. Click on Finish. Your e-mail address is now configured. 6
5.2 Configuring Outlook 2000/XP Here is how to configure your mailbox, so that you are able to use your new e-mail address. 1. Open Outlook 2000/XP, click on Tools > Services... 2. Click on Add... 7
3. Select Internet E-mail, then click on OK. 4. In the General tab: - Enter the name of the Mail account. - Enter your whole name. This name will appear in the emails you send. - Enter your e-mail address. The one that the Customer Service Department gave you. - Click on OK. 8

Click on the Servers tab: - Enter the Incoming mail server: pop1.ntl.sympatico.ca - Enter the Outgoing mail server: smtp1.ntl.sympatico.ca - Enter your Account name (User name). example: t1xxxx99 or b1xxxx99. - Enter your password. - You can also check Log on using Secure Password Authentification. - Click on OK. 6. Click on the Advanced tab: - Confirm the Outgoing mail port: 25 - Confirm the Incoming mail port: 110 - Do not check the option Leave a copy of messages on server. - Click on Ok. Your e-mail address is now configured. 9
5.3 Configuring Windows Mail 6.0 Here is how to configure your mailbox, so that you are able to use your new e-mail address. 1. Click on Start ( ), then click on E-mail Windows Mail. 2. Click on Tools > Accounts... 10
3. Click on Add 4. Select E-mail Account, then click on Next. 11
5. In this window: - Enter your whole name. This name will appear in the e-mails you send. - Click on Next. 6. In this window: - Enter your e-mail address. The one that the Customer Service Department gave you. - Click on Next. 12

In this window: - Select POP3 as the Incoming mail server type. - Enter the Incoming mail server: pop1.ntl.sympatico.ca - Enter the Outgoing mail server: smtp1.ntl.sympatico.ca - Then click on Next. 8. In this window: - Enter your e-mail username (Account name). example: t1xxxx99 or b1xxxx99. - Enter your password. - You can also check Remember password. - Click on Next. 13
9. Click on Finish. 10. Click on Close. Your e-mail address is now configured. 14
5.4 Configuring Windows live Mail Here is how to configure your mailbox, so that you are able to use your new e-mail address. Windows Live Mail must be downloaded and is not included with no version of Microsoft Windows. 1. From the Main menu, click Add e-mail account in the left part of the screen. 2. - Enter your e-mail address that the Customer Service Department gave you. - Enter your password, which you chose or the one that was provided for you. - You can check the option Remember Password. - Enter your name in Display Name. - Check the option Manually configure server settings for e-mail account. - Click on Next. 15
3. - Enter the Incoming mail server: pop1.ntl.sympatico.ca - Confirm the Incoming mail port: 110. - In the field Login ID, enter your user name (Account name). - Enter the Outgoing mail server: smtp1.ntl.sympatico.ca - Confirm the Outgoing mail port: 25. - Click on Next. 4. Your e-mail address is now configured. 16
5. Return to the main panel. The name of the newly-created e-mail account will appear in the left colomn and is ready to be used. 17
