DO NOT mix Retin-A with chemical exfoliants (i.e. glycolic acid, salicylic acid, etc.) or products containing chemical exfoliants. DO NOT use on the same day that you have performed a chemical peel. DO NOT apply after having applied a moisturiser/cream/lotion/gel containing chemical exfoliants either. This will irritate your skin terribly (itching & redness). Retin-A Gel 0.1% is pretty strong so you don t have to use it very often IF you re already using chemical exfoliants on a daily basis. You can apply it ONCE a day 1-2 times a week. Please understand that Retin-A 0.1% is MUCH stronger (10x s!) than Retin-A 0.01% and Retin-A 0.05% (5 x s!). Some people don t understand or they completely dismiss the decimal point value which is VERY important. Glutathione, Cystiene & Vitamin-C: In addition to the below tips you can also take Glutathione, Cystiene & Vitamin-C supplements to give a boost in skin lightening. Glutathione pills are popular for lightening skin but most people don t know or understand that taking them don t necessarily, it s the raising of your own glutathione levels that lighten your skin. Your body already naturally produces glutathione, a side effect of raising your glutathione levels is skin lightening. (continued...) MOISTURIZER After exfoliating you need to properly moisturize your skin. It is not suggested that you use regular lotions to do this. Natural fragrance-free/alcohol-free oils are much better especially after exfoliating when your skin will be slightly raw & sensitive. There have been reports of individuals using Almond Glow Oil after exfoliating, before using Monobenzone Cream 20% so that it won t sting or burn. Almond glow is fine but cocoa butter is the best moisturizer to use on your skin especially after exfoliating. Cocoa butter helps to lighten scars, stretch marks AND prevents scaring & darkening of the skin if used on wounds/bruises iwhile they are still healing. The best brand to use is Palmers Cocoa Butter Formula (not the lotion) the one in the jar and the stick. Regular cocoa butter is good but it tends to be very greasy & doesn t absorb very well.
