2016 FLORIDA ENGINEERING SOCIETY FELLOW MEMBERSHIP General Information and Entry Guidelines GENERAL DESCRIPTION Fellow membership is awarded to Professional Engineer members of FES in recognition of their high character and distinguished achievements. It is given to those members of FES who best exemplify the ideal image of the Professional Engineer. It is desirable that the candidate has a well-rounded record of achievement in education, employment, professional and public service activities. INSTRUCTIONS FOR COMPLETION AND SUBMITTAL OF ENTRY FORMS 1. Read "Award Criteria and Procedures" and review forms carefully before beginning entries. 2. The nomination form is due at FES headquarters by January 15, 2016. 3. Be sure to fill in the entry form completely. This includes signatures, pertinent dates, and all other data. Incomplete forms cannot be properly judged. 4. Please type all information. If the form is submitted in an electronic format, the Chapter President and Chapter State Director signatures may be provided on a separate letter of endorsement. 5. 2016 FLORIDA ENGINEERING SOCIETY FELLOW MEMBERSHIP Award Criteria and Procedures BASIC CRITERIA 1. FES Charter Article IV. Section 2.a..." A Fellow Membership shall be a Professional Engineer Member of recognized high character with distinguished engineering achievements and who shall be elected FELLOW only by unanimous vote of the Board. Fellow Membership shall be automatically granted to the individual serving as state Society President upon completion of the term if the individual does not currently hold the FES Fellow designation; the status will be formalized at the awards ceremony following or immediately preceding their last Board Meeting as President. 2. Candidate shall: A. Have been practicing the profession of engineering for 20 years. B. Have been a member of FES for 10 years, or a member of NSPE for 15 years with at least five years of service in FES. C. Be a Professional Engineer member of FES. D. Have a conspicuous record of achievement in professional affairs, including substantial interest and active work in FES at the state, chapter, or national level. 3. Candidate's professional integrity shall be beyond question. 4. Candidate's professional reputation shall be more than local in character. 5. Candidate shall have consistently worked for the professional and technical interest of the engineering profession. 6. Candidate shall have been active in carrying out his civic, community, and public responsibilities. 7. The Board shall endeavor to limit the Fellow members to no more than 5% of the corporate membership. PROCEDURE 1. Candidate shall be nominated by their chapter prior to January 15 of each year, or by the FES Board of Directors. The nominations shall be endorsed by the chapter state director and three Fellow members. 2. The chapter nomination shall be submitted to the Awards Committee on official forms approved by the Committee for such purposes. 3. The FES Awards Committee shall review the nomination and, in turn, make its recommendation to the Board of Directors. All suitable nominations will be sent to FES Fellows for review in advance of coming to the Board of Directors for a Vote. Fellows must submit a response within 15 business days of receipt of applications. The Fellows will be informed of their right to provide comment on any application and that any received comments will be communicated to the Board of Directors.

4. For a candidate with notable achievements, the FES Awards Committee may recommend waiver of compliance with all listed requirements but only by a unanimous vote of the Committee. 5. Upon approval by the Board, a Fellow membership certificate shall be prepared and presentation made at the Annual Conference.
