Ministry Track Evangelism Training (MTET) for Group Leader We believe preparation for serving at MFuge can be a key component in making the experience the best it can be. We have created the following teaching outline to provide a simple plan to teach students to begin meaningful conversations as well as share their own story and the gospel with others. The plan is specifically designed to help prepare students both spiritually and practically for the week of MFuge that lies ahead. The teaching outline is crafted into three different sections; each section intended to last approximately 20 minutes. These three sections can be taught on three separate occasions or together in an hour s time. We believe giving students the opportunity to become familiar with this information prior to camp is important. Once students arrive at camp, MFuge track leaders will build on this Ministry Track Evangelism Training before planning for site. We count your partnership in equipping students to share Christ at camp and in your various communities a great privilege. Beginning Meaningful Conversations 20 Minutes Before you start Gather a note card for each student Gather a writing utensil for each student Find a white board/chalk board (if desired) Gather dry easer markers/chalk (if desired) Print and cut FIRM acronyms cards for each student (page 7) 4 Minutes Say: We meet people every day who do not know the hope the gospel has to offer. But often times, we do not know how to start a conversation with them, much less share that hope with them. Ask: What are some ways you can begin a meaningful conversation with someone? Allow students to share different effective ways they have found to start meaningful conversations. If available, write down key words from ideas students have on the white/chalk board. Introduce the FIRM acronym to students (F=Family, I=Interests, R=Religion, M=Message). Give them brief examples of each letter in the acronym. 5 Minutes

7 Minutes Invite students to divide into groups of four. Give each student a note card and writing utensil. Assign groups either F, I, R, or M. Instruct them to brainstorm good questions to ask on their topic in order to help begin those meaningful conversations for four minutes. Ask them to write ideas on the note cards. Ask: What question do you feel is the best question for your letter? Ask this question for each of the four letters. As they answer, lead a student from each group to write their best answer on the board. This will allow other groups to take notes on good questions as groups share. If time allows, invite groups to share other good questions they were able to brainstorm. Say: We can use the F.I.R.M. acronym as a way to find common ground with people and begin conversations that will hopefully lead to an opportunity to share the gospel in the future. 4 Minutes Ask each group member to select a letter from FIRM. Invite all the F s to pray for conversations that will be had at camp and in the community about family. Invite all the I s to pray for conversation about interests. Ask all the R s to pray for conversation about religion and the M s to pray for conversation about the message. Close by praying out loud for your students as they start to learn how to begin engaging in meaningful conversations. 20 Minutes Before you start Gather paper for each student Gather a writing utensil for each student Print and cut cards for each student (page 8) Ask one student to be prepared to share answers to the outline Gather craft supplies such as paint, paper, markers and glue. (Optional) 4 Minutes Say: One way we can share the message of Christ, the gospel, is through sharing the personal story of how a relationship with God has changed our life. Ask: Why do you think it might be important to share your own story with someone who does not have a relationship with the Lord? Allow students the opportunity to give feedback in regard to this question.

5 Minutes Direct students attention to the card. Walk them through each of the three parts of how to share your story (My life before Christ, How I met Christ and how it changed my life, How Christ impacts my life today.) Invite the selected student to share their testimony based on the three parts of the outline. This can be done in an interview format. 11 Minutes Supply each student with paper and a writing utensil. Invite them to take time to write the answers to the three parts of the outline. Allow them plenty of time to think through and write. At camp, students will be asked to share their story in approximately two to three minutes. Encourage students to go deeper into their story. Suggest the details of their stories open doors for celebration and healing in the context of a youth group and consistent relationships. (Optional) You may also offer craft supplies for those students who feel they can express their story more through art than words. It is simply a different medium they can use to tell their story. Invite students to leave their stories with you at the end of the time together. This will allow you the opportunity to see how your students express their story. Take the opportunity to remind students you are available to listen to their stories if they would like to discuss them in person. Close by praying out loud for your students, thanking God for what He has done in their lives and praying they would have boldness as they become more comfortable sharing their story. How to Share the Gospel Before you start Gather extra Bibles for students Print and cut Gospel Presentation Cards (page 9) 20 Minutes Make and hang four posters entitled Local Community, Camp Location, Ministry Site, Camp Participants Post the four posters around the area where you will meet Gather markers for students (optional) 6 Minutes Say: As followers of Christ, the message of the gospel is something that we should be eager and ready to share.

Ask: What are some ways you have shared the gospel with others in the past? Does someone have a specific story they would like to share about that experience? Allow students time to engage in dialog about ways they know to share the gospel and experiences they have had sharing in the past. 7 Minutes Direct students attention to the Gospel Presentation Cards. Spend time going over each outline and the scripture that correlates accordingly. Encourage students to underline or highlight the verses from one outline in their Bible so they can recall the verses as they have the opportunity to share the gospel in the future. MFuge track leaders will emphasize the GOSPEL acronym specifically during students time at camp. 7 Minutes Encourage students to participate in a time of prayer for your community, the community surrounding the camp location, their future ministry site, and other camp participants. Invite students to pray at different prayer stations set up around the room. Close the time by praying out loud for your students. (Optional) Students can use markers to write prayers for each station directly on the poster board. You can hang these posters in an area in the church where students typically hangout as a reminder to continually be in prayer for those specific areas.

GOSPEL Key Words John 3:16-17: For God so loved the world that He gave His one and only son, that whoever believes in Him will not perish but have eternal life. For God did not send His son into the world to condemn the world, but to save the world through Him. Roman Road Creation God created everything in heaven and on earth. He created humans to be in relationship with Him. (For God so loved the world) Sin Man sinned and we were separated from God. (Condemn the world) Jesus Jesus came to earth and lived a perfect life without sin. (He gave His one and only son) Cross Jesus died on the cross to take our place for our sin bearing our punishment and dying our death. (Save the world through Him and that whoever believes in Him) Eternal Life Jesus rose from the dead and offers eternal life to all who trust in him and repent. (But have eternal life) Restored When we trust in Christ, our relationship with God is restored. (For God did not send His son into the world to condemn the world, but to save the world through Him) Romans 3:23 For all have sinned and fall short of the Glory of God. Romans 6:23 For the wages of sin is death, but the first of life is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord. Romans 5:8 God demonstrates His own love for us, that while we were still sinners, Christ died for us. Romans 10:9 That if you confess with your mouth, Jesus is Lord, and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved. Romans 10:13 Everyone who calls on the name of the Lord will be saved. Romans 5:1 Therefore, since we have been justified through faith, we have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ. Romans 8:38-39 For I am convinced that neither death nor life, neither angels nor demons, neither the present nor the future, nor any powers, neither height nor depth, nor anything else in all creation, will be able to separate us from the love of God that is in Christ Jesus our Lord.
