Power units and accessories Power units Blain This power unit utilises a mechanical valve with a full range of adjustments for both the up and down travel. It has an operating pressure range of between 5 and 100 bar and is suitable for most installations. Bucher LRV-1 The electronic valve with feedback system allows proportional solenoids to operate depending on the setting of the control card, giving a fully adjustable ride with accurate stopping and floor levels. Bucher VVVF with or without accumulators The latest in the Bucher range of power units uses inverter technology to control the speed of the motor, resulting in reduced power consumption and heat production. The optional addition of stored energy accumulators further improves the efficiency of the hydraulic system. GMV The GMV power unit also operates with a mechanical valve which can be set for either star-delta or direct online starting. Its operating pressure range is up to 45 bar and so is more suited to lower pressure systems. Hydroware Hydroelite The Hydroelite is unique as it is designed for total compatibility between the integrated drive and control system. Installation is quick, with reduced heat output and power consumption due to a self learning system, tacho drive and soft start unit. Power unit accessories Tank heaters Hand pumps High and low pressure switches Mechanical hydraulic load weighing devices Electronic load weighing devices Micro levelling units External silencers Pressure gauges Visual oil sight gauges Cooler connections Adjustable cooler thermostat Manual lowering check valves Ball valves Hydraulic fittings 4

Pumps and motors We carry a varied range of new pumps with a flow range from 20 l/min to 600 l/min and motors from 2 kw to 58 kw. We also offer a quick and efficient rewind service on all motor sizes. With a motor rewind or replacement we recommend, and can carry out, a hydraulic oil change and renewal of main contactors. Cooler and heat exchange units Keeping the hydraulic system at a regulated temperature ensures correct ride characteristics and increases reliability and longevity of major hydraulic components. Each cooling system is designed to suit the exact heat output of the specific lift installation. Air blast oil coolers come complete with an individual circulating pump, thermostat, cooler control unit, tailor made hoses, clamps and all electrical items. Our cooler sizes range from 4kW to 40kW and can all be mounted remote from the lift motor room, allowing easy and efficient heat dissipation. If a chilled water supply is available within the building, a heat exchange unit can be installed. This allows the heat transfer between the oil and water, giving extremely efficient cooling without the problem of dissipating the hot air generated by an air blast cooler. Our technical staff have an average industry experience of more than a decade 5

Valves and interfaces Valve servicing Algi Blain Bucher Dover GMV Hydroware We retain all the components required for full valve services which consist of checking for any internal or external leaks before dismantling the valve. All worn or damaged parts are then replaced and the valve is tested for correct operation. Alternatively, we can supply the parts direct to you. Bucher LRV to LRV-1 retro fit kits We can upgrade your existing Bucher LRV valve unit to the latest hall effect LRV-1 with a retro fit kit. The kit comes complete with a new tower section, flow ring, flow rod, external hall effect sensor and feedback cable (3,6,9 or 12 metres as required). Cylinders and Accessories Cylinders Algi Bucher Deve GMV We supply indirect, direct acting or telescopic cylinders, depending on your requirements. Each cylinder can be supplied assembled or in component form and we offer a cylinder joining service. Sundry items such as mounting plates, flanges, knuckles and clamps are available on request. Borehole cylinders require protection from ingress of water. We therefore use a specially designed denso tape to coat the outer case. Cylinders can also be supplied with double thickness bases or with outer cases pre-bitumened to protect against hazardous environments. Pipe rupture valves Blain Bucher GMV We can supply instantaneous, dampened and balanced rupture valves to suit hydraulic system pressure, flow and location, with a flow range from 25 to 1500 litres/minute. Chains Dependent upon usage and loading, chains on hydraulic applications stretch over a period of time. On reaching a wear rate of 2% they require replacement. All of our engineering teams carry chain wear gauges aboard their vans. This allows them to make a quick and accurate diagnosis without removing the chain. We can replace a worn chain with either an exact replacement, or an alternative which could provide an increase in life expectancy or a reduction in cost. We can also manufacture new chain anchorages. 6

Replacement valves We hold stock of all major valves used within the UK market, including Bucher, Blain and GMV, and can offer a supply and install service or supply only, enabling easy replacement of existing valves. We can substitute valves like for like, or upgrade to the latest technology. Each valve comes complete with a pressure gauge, a high or low pressure switch and, for the Blain and GMV models, an integral hand pump. Interfaces We offer the facility to retain your existing control panel while upgrading the hydraulic valve by using an interface cabinet. This will increase the ride performance and prevent the extra expense of a new control panel. Ram seals We carry an extensive range of ram seals to suit all major makes and models of displacement cylinders, inverse cylinders, telescopic cylinders (inner and outer seals) and piston seals. If we do not have the item in stock, we can usually obtain it ready to despatch the next day. The most common makes in stock include:- Algi Becker Bucher Deve Evans GMV H&C Kone Leistritz Otis Schindler Whenever a seal is replaced by us, the ram is always inspected over its entire length and any damage is removed using our portable hand held linishing machines. This can prevent the need to replace the cylinder and extend seal life. We can also top up the tank if required. We notify you beforehand regarding the quantity of oil needed and the cost. When replacing ram seals, we also clean out the lift pit area of any waste oil, and soak up any residual oil using spill dry dust. Our in-house lift provides a practical tool to ensure our own technicians are up-todate on every development. We also offer training for customers service staff. 7

Hydraulic oil We can supply and install or supply only a wide range of hydraulic oils to suit all lift types. We hold over 8,000 litres in stock all in 25 litre drums for immediate delivery. When an oil change is carried out, the entire hydraulic system is drained, the tank unit thoroughly cleaned out and de-greased prior to installing the new oil. If major contamination of the hydraulic system has taken place, we also offer the facility to flush out the system to ensure correct operation. All our vans are fully licensed by the environmental agency to carry both new and contaminated oil. All oil disposed of is fully documented and certificated accordingly. Multigrade oil VHVI Our standard oil used is a multigrade 46 which keeps its viscosity between 5ºc and 70ºc, ensuring correct valve operation despite variations in temperature and lift use. Slideway oil We carry a stock of slideway oil which is used on sites where hydraulic frictions are experienced. Existing oil is removed and the new oil introduced allowing fast penetration to the affected areas. Rape seed oil Biodegradable oils are used on sensitive sites where there is a risk of oil leaking into watercourses. Many customers require the use of such oils to comply with their environmental or company policies. Low friction additive We use a special oil additive which is used on telescopic cylinders to reduce friction where multi seals are used. This additive is particularly important following ram seal replacement, as the seal will require time to bed in. Blue paper Whenever working on a hydraulic system, care must be taken to ensure that no contamination takes place. It is for this reason that we use a low fibre blue paper whenever tank units are cleaned or valves serviced. Oil soak granules Granules are used to remove the oil residue left in lift pits or motor rooms following a leak or spillage. Oil is drawn into each granule where it is held and then removed from site. Oil spill dust Our specially formulated dust is used to remove any residual oil, but also has the added benefit of being able to draw oil from concrete or brickwork, ensuring that the oil does not continue to resurface. 8

Hydraulic hoses We can supply the following hydraulic hoses, components and services. 4 Wire hoses from 3/4" to 2" We use the latest 4 wire hoses as a standard for most installations. The special carcass stops the expansion experienced with normal hoses, to such an extent that hose runs of up to 40 metres can be used without the need for expensive solid pipework. Each hose can have a large variety of ends swaged onto them as required. 2 Wire hoses from 1/4" to 2" 2 wire hoses can also be supplied to suit any application, size and length. Hoses can be pressure tested and supplied along with a variety of hose ends and clamps. Solid pipework 1" to 2" Solid pipework can be supplied to suit a flow of up to 600 litres inclusive of elbows, straight couplers, male stud couplings and clamps. Each length of pipe can be pre-cut to suit your exact needs and lessen installation time. Also, a range of preformed bends can be ordered, reducing the need for expensive elbows which can cause friction, heat and pressure drops. Hose and pipework clamps 1/4" to 2" A range of clamps include sound and isolating stauff clamps which reduce noise transfer through a building, or p clamps where sound issues and hose support are not a problem. Hose pressure testing All our hydraulic 2 wire and 4 wire hoses can be pressure tested up to 250 and 500 bar respectively, individually marked at each end and supplied along with a laminated test certificate. 9

SAFed examinations We carry out all SAFed tests (H1, H5 and H10) on hydraulic installations complete with a full site survey and notification to you of any further necessary works required. We are a quality assured ISO 9001:2000 company and we complete all SAFed documentation for you to pass onto your customer, and can use your headed paper if required. All instrumentation used is calibrated and we supply a full test load in order to carry out the examination. Borehole camera inspections Following the introduction of SAFed cylinder inspections and the requirement to visually inspect the outer case of the cylinder, we offer the facility to carry out full inspections of borehole cylinders using a camera, which minimises the requirement for removal of the cylinder from the borehole. Our camera is a high resolution micro video camera with internal lighting system. At only 50mm wide, it can be sent down the side of the cylinder to gain a complete picture, video taped in colour, to give you a permanent record of the condition of the cylinder case. Upon completion of the camera inspection, a detailed report and copy of the video will be issued to support our findings. Hydraulic spares Our central parts department holds over 15,000 line items, from ram seals to valves and hoses to hydraulic oil, plus a wide range of major components for upgrading or modernisation. Parts are sourced from reputable suppliers, based mainly in the UK or Europe. All of our stock items can be packaged up and despatched to you, or your site, for next day delivery as required. 10
