Christine Péjaudier CEO Le Lit National LE LIT NATIONAL STORY OF A FAMILY For more than a century, le Lit National has been promoting and passing on from generation to generation its unique savoir-faire and its passion for the art and handicraft of high-end bedding. Le Lit National is the number one reference since 1909 for entirely hand-made luxury, madeto-measure and 100% French bedding. ThREE GENERATIONS Nobody could foresee the future success when François Péjaudier left the province to try and make fortune in Paris at the very beginning of the 20th century. After a working experience in the bedding section of a department store, he quickly founded his own firm Les Usines Nationales de Literie. In 1920 Le Lit National - referring then to the design of a bed in copper - becomes the new brand name. In only 10 years, Le Lit National acquired fame and François Péjaudier was able to invest into his own workshops located at Pré-Saint-Gervais (still functional these days) as well as in 8 stores, one of which is located at Trocadéro and was inaugurated in 1928. In 1945 Georges Péjaudier, son of the founder, takes the firm over, breathing new energy into it. Innovating projects such as the Duo-Rêve - Sleep together, but separately - represent a real revolution in the world of bedding.
In 1993, the third generation took over the management of the firm : at first Hervé Péjaudier, followed by his sister Christine. Eager to carry on the century-old savoirfaire, Christine believes in innovation and starts creating healthy beds notably through her responsible approach in terms of ecology. The fourth generation already starts to show up the succession is provided! In 2012, the work and innovation of three generations is awarded with the label Entreprise du Patrimoine Vivant (EPV) that singles out French firms with a particular savoir-faire in handicraft and excellent industrials. Haute couture bedding entirely hand-made Le Lit National workshops are charged with history ; as soon as the doors open, one can feel the passion that has been animating the family members all those years. Time seems suspended in order to give way to the mastery savoir-faire a real art work. Every corner, every shelf reveals a different universe showing all the steps of the realization of an exceptional bed. Carpenters, couturiers and mattress makers all work meticulously to respond to all demands. Two craftsmen need an entire day to finish a made-to-measure mattress and several days to fabricate an entire bed ; all creations are entirely hand-made and require precise and controlled gestures. Le Lit National is also a matter of love and respect for textiles : cottonwood from the Picardy region is used alongside with organic cotton, linen, untreated wool, horsehair or 100 % green latex. Christine Péjaudier has a commitment : the exclusive use of non-toxic and natural materials that respect the environment and guarantee a healthy and sustainable rest.
