This is a travel policy that, subject to the terms, conditions and exclusions contained in the Policy Document, will meet certain costs that might arise during the course of your travels. Curtailment If you have to cut short your trip as a result of something beyond your control, which was unforeseen at the time of purchasing your policy or at the time of booking your trip whichever is the later. Strike or industrial action publicly known by the date the insurance is purchased by you. You must allow sufficient time for your journey. Any circumstances known prior to booking the trip or purchasing the policy (whichever is later) that could reasonably be expected to give rise to a claim. Medical and Other Expenses Covers for eligible costs if during the trip you suffer bodily injury, illness or die. Travel tickets paid for using any airline mileage reward scheme, for example Air Miles or Avios points. Pregnancy or childbirth where the pregnancy has exceeded 28 weeks. You must advise the Assistance Helpline of any claim over 500. Emergency dental treatment limited to 750. Overseas funeral costs are limited to 4,000. Any cost where you do not comply with the treatment agreed by the treating doctor and the Assistance Helpline including treatment that can wait until you return to the UK. Pregnancy or childbirth where the pregnancy has exceeded 28 weeks. Any costs which are covered under a reciprocal health agreement between the government of the UK and that of your country of loss including costs covered by the European Health Card (EHIC). Section 4 Travel Medical Only Travel Hospital Benefit Up to 30 for every completed 24 hours in-patient hospital stay up to 1,000. Expenses incurred as a result of a tropical disease where the required inoculations have not been undertaken. This section does not apply if you have selected the Medical Only Travel. Section 5 Travel Personal Accident Cover for loss of life, limb or sight that occurs during your trip. Reduced benefit for persons aged under 16 or 65 and over. Section 6 Travel Delayed Baggage Cover is provided for up to 150 for each complete 12 hours you are without your baggage for the cost of essential items if your carrier has misplaced or delayed your baggage for more than 12 hours during the outward journey. You must obtain confirmation of the length of delay from your carrier. Section 7 Travel
Baggage If your personal baggage is lost, stolen or damaged we will cover the cost of replacement (less wear, tear and depreciation). Limited to 300 per single item or pair or set of items and 350 for valuables in total. Valuables left unattended at any time unless in a hotel safe, safety deposit box or in your locked personal private accommodation. Baggage contained in an unattended motor vehicle between 9 p.m. and 9 a.m. or between 9 a.m. and 9 p.m. unless it is in a glove compartment, locked boot or covered from view in a locked car. You must report all losses to the police within 24 hours of discovery or as soon as possible after that and obtain a written report. Section 8 Travel Personal Money Accidental loss, theft or damage of personal money. Personal money left unattended at any time unless in a hotel safe, safety deposit box or in your locked personal private accommodation. Section 9 Travel Loss of Passport or Driving Licence Cost of replacing your driving licence or passport and reasonable additional costs for travel and accommodation incurred whilst obtaining a replacement driving licence, passport or visa abroad. You must report all losses to the police within 24 hours of discovery or as soon as possible after that and obtain a written report. Your passport or visa left unattended at any time unless in a hotel safe, safety deposit box or in your locked personal private accommodation. Section 10 Travel Mugging If you sustain accidental injury as a result of mugging that results in you being hospitalised. You must report your mugging to the police within 24 hours or as soon as reasonably possible after that and obtain a written report. Section 11 Travel Hijack A payment of 50 will be made for each day for the duration of the hijack. Claims where you or your business connections have engaged in activities likely to increase the risk of hijack. Section 12 Travel
Personal Liability Personal liability for any compensation you become legally liable to pay. Legal Expenses Legal expenses to pursue compensation as a result of death, illness or injury against a third party as a result of an accident. Pursuit of any trade, business or profession, or the ownership, possession or use of any vehicles, aircraft or watercraft other than rowing boats, punts or canoes. We will have complete control over proceedings and the selection, appointment and control of any legal representative. Claims where there is no prospect of success in obtaining reasonable benefit. Claims not reported within 90 days of the incident. Section 13 Section 14 Travel Travel Travel Disruption Cover (optional under, included under ) Additional protection if your travel plans are disrupted. Section 15 Travel A. Substitute Accommodation We will pay for reasonable alternative accommodation costs if your accommodation is affected by an outbreak of food poisoning, insolvency or fire. B. Replacement Flight We will pay for the cost of a replacement flight if your scheduled airline becomes insolvent. Accommodation costs where the transport operator has offered reasonable alternative arrangements. Scheduled flights not booked through a bonded travel agent or direct with a scheduled airline. Costs recoverable from elsewhere. C. Enforced Stay If you are unable to return home due to airspace, airport or the Channel Tunnel being closed we will pay 100 for each 24 hour period you are unable to return home up to a maximum of 1,500 or up to 1,000 for additional travel expenses to get you home after a period of 24 hours or more where your travel provider has not made suitable alternative arrangements. D. Connecting Flight Cover if you should miss a connecting flight on the way to your destination or on your return to the United Kingdom or whilst overseas on a multi-centre holiday as a result of failure of other public transport, strike, industrial action or adverse weather conditions or you being involuntarily denied boarding (because there are too many passengers for the seats available) and no other suitable alternative flight could be provided within 12 hours. The refunded amount of any unused travel costs recoverable from your travel provider. Claims where you have left insufficient time between your inbound flight landing and the outbound flight departing.
Winter Sports (optional) A. Ski Equipment Loss of or damage to your own or hired ski equipment. B. Hire of Ski Equipment Up to 50 per day for costs of hiring replacement ski equipment if yours is accidentally lost, damaged or stolen during your trip. Limited to 250 per single pair or set of items. Limited to 500 for hired ski equipment. Ski equipment contained in or stolen from an unattended motor vehicle between 9 p.m. and 9 a.m. or between 9 a.m. and 9 p.m. unless it is in a locked boot or covered from view in a locked car. Section 16 Travel C. Ski Pack Unused non-refundable pre-paid ski pack costs up to 150 if you are unable to ski following accidental injury or illness and you do not curtail your trip. D. Piste Closure Up to 25 per day up to 250 for additional transport costs if you have to travel to another resort in the event of total closure of your resort due to lack of snow at your pre-booked resort. E. Avalanche Delay Additional travel and accommodation costs up to 500 if your transfer to or from your pre-booked resort is delayed by avalanche. Excludes claims for ski equipment whilst in use. You must provide written confirmation from a medical practitioner confirming that you are unable to ski. You must obtain written confirmation from the tour operator (or their representative) of the number of days the skiing facilities were closed in your resort and the reason for the closure. You must obtain written confirmation from the appropriate authority to confirm the period of delay. Golf Cover (optional) A. Green Fees Refund the cost of non-refundable pre-booked green fees following the cancellation or curtailment of your trip or if you are delayed for more than 12 hours on your outward journey which prevents you from playing golf. B. Golf Equipment Hire Up to 35 per day for the cost of hiring replacement golf equipment if your golf clubs are delayed by your carrier for more than 12 hours. See Section 1 - Cancellation. You must obtain confirmation of the length of delay from your carrier. Section 17 Travel C. Golf Equipment If your golf clubs are lost, stolen or damaged we will cover the cost of replacement (less wear, tear and depreciation). Limited to 300 per single item or pair or set of items. UK Rehabilitation Cover (optional) A. Medically necessary physiotherapy costs up to 1,000 when you return to the United Kingdom following accidental injury during your trip. B. UK Hospital Stay Benefit 30 for every complete 24 hours you are in hospital if you are admitted into hospital as an in-patient for more than 24 hours as soon as you return to the United Kingdom following an illness or accidental injury during your trip. C. Home Help or Nanny Cover Cover for the cost of home help or a registered nanny following your repatriation home. D. Prescription Cover We will pay up to 50 if, once back in the United Kingdom, you have to obtain and pay for prescribed medication as a result of an injury or illness sustained on your trip. Any claim which does not directly relate to the accident or illness, that happened during your trip and for which a claim has been accepted under Section 4 Medical and Other Expenses. Section 18 Travel Medical Only Travel Camping Cover (optional) Cover for the cost of replacement (less wear, tear and depreciation) of your tent and camping equipment including personal effects if lost, stolen or damaged by fire, vandalism, storm or flood. Limited to 200 per single item, pair or set of items. Theft of camping equipment from an unattended tent, toilet tent or awning unless it has sides that completely enclose the interior in which case the maximum we will pay is 50 for any single article or 100 in all. Section 19 Travel Additional cover for hire of a replacement tent or the cost of hotel accommodation following the insured incident. Hotel accommodation is limited to 125 per night up to a maximum of 250 in total. Driving Cover (optional) Cover for the cost of replacement (less wear, tear and depreciation) if your satellite navigation equipment or safety awareness kit is lost, stolen or damaged. Cover for additional costs incurred to return your car to your home address in the United Kingdom if following a valid claim under Section 4 Medical and Other Expenses you are declared medically unfit to drive your car back to your home address. Limited to 250 in total for satellite navigation equipment. Limited to 50 in total for safety awareness equipment. Loss or theft of satellite navigation equipment left unattended unless left out of sight in a locked boot or glove box or locked room as applicable. Claims where there is a travelling companion who is qualified and competent to drive. Section 20 Travel
Motorcycling Cover (optional) Cover for the cost of replacement (less wear, tear and depreciation) if your satellite navigation equipment, safety awareness kit, motorcycle apparel or motorcycle accessories is lost, stolen or damaged. Additionally, cover is extended for you riding motorcycles with an engine capacity of up to 1000cc subject to you wearing a helmet, and as a driver, you have held a motorcycle licence for at least 3 years and have no motoring convictions. Limited to 350 in total for satellite navigation equipment. Limited to 50 in total for safety awareness equipment. Limited to 350 in total for motorcycle accessories (single article limit 100). Limited to 1,000 for motorcycle apparel (single article limit 250). Claims for motorcycle apparel or motorcycles accessories are subject to a deduction for wear and tear. Loss or theft of satellite navigation equipment left unattended unless left out of sight in a locked boot or glove box or locked room as applicable. Section 21 Travel 5. What are the significant and unusual exclusions and limitations? 1. 2. 3. 4. The limits under the different sections of the policy are as shown on the Policy Schedule or within the Policy Wording. Under some sections of the policy, claims will be subject to an excess. This means that you will be responsible for paying the first part of each and every claim (as shown in your Policy Schedule) per incident for each insured person under each section of cover being claimed under. Cover is excluded for any medical condition or symptom that has not been declared to and accepted by us and which existed prior to the commencement of this policy. This includes any associated medical conditions. After you have paid for this policy, you must tell us if your health changes. We will then decide if we can provide you with cover on your existing terms. We may ask you to pay an extra premium, add special conditions to the policy or exclude cover for that medical condition. Any claim if, at the time your policy starts or booking a trip, whichever was the later, any person on whom the trip depends including the person with whom you are travelling or have arranged to travel, a person with whom you have arranged to reside with temporarily, a close relative, friend or close business associate had a medical condition for which he or she: was receiving treatment at hospital (other than where they go to hospital for check-ups for a stable condition, at regular intervals which have been arranged beforehand) was waiting for a hospital consultation, investigations or treatment (other than where they go to hospital for check-ups for a stable condition, at regular intervals which have been arranged beforehand) had been given a terminal prognosis, or been told that their condition is likely to get worse in the next 12 months. 5. 6. 7. 8. 9. This policy is only available to persons resident in the United Kingdom. Cover is available to persons up to the age of 60 under the Medical Only Travel policy, there is no upper age limit under the or policies and under the Travel policy the upper age limit is 80 at the start of the policy. Winter Sports cover is only available to persons aged under 65 except under the Medical Only Travel policy where the age limit is 60. Children are covered under family and single parent Travel policies when travelling independently. Where the Medical Only Travel policy is selected, cover for claims arising out of participation in winter sports activities are only covered if the appropriate additional premium has been paid. Cover is excluded for certain Hazardous Activities. This means any pursuit or activity where it is recognised that there is an increased risk of injury or accident. A list of the activities covered by the policy can be found under the Hazardous Activities section in the policy wording.

Your wilfully, self-inflicted injury or illness, suicide or attempted suicide, solvent abuse, alcohol abuse including alcohol withdrawal, the use of drugs (other than drugs taken in accordance with treatment prescribed and directed by a Medical Practitioner, but not for the treatment of drug addiction), self-exposure to needless peril (except in an attempt to save human life). The maximum duration of any one trip on an Travel policy will be 31 days unless you have paid to extend this to 45, 60 or 90 days or reduce this to 24 days and this is shown in your Policy Schedule. Please note that we do not cover any part of any trip where the duration is longer than that selected. Winter Sports trips are limited to 21 days per insurance period. The Travel policy includes cover for trips taken wholly within the UK provided that accommodation is pre-booked and pre-paid for 2 consecutive nights or more. The maximum duration for any one trip on an or policies is as stated on your Policy Schedule up to a maximum of 185 days. Under Medical Only Travel policies the maximum trip duration is as stated on the Policy Schedule up to a maximum of 31 days. 6.
