PART 1: INTRODUCTION TO THE HOLY SPIRIT All that the believer has must come from Christ, but it comes solely through the channel of the Spirit of grace. Moreover, as all blessings thus flow to you through the Holy Spirit, so also no good thing can come out of you in holy thought, devout worship, or gracious act, apart from the sanctifying operation of the same Spirit. Even if the good seed be sown in you, yet it lies dormant except He worketh in you to will and to do of His own good pleasure If the Holy Spirit be indeed so mighty, let us attempt nothing without Him; let us begin no project, and carry on no enterprise, and conclude no transaction, without imploring His blessing. Comforter NT:3875 parakleetos, (par-ak'-lay-tos); summoned, called to one's side, especially called to one's aid; 1. one who pleads another's case before a judge, a pleader, counsel for defense, legal assistant; an advocate: 2. universally, one who pleads another's case with one, an intercessor: 3. in the widest sense, a helper, succorer, aider, assistant; so of the Holy Spirit. HOLY SPIRIT IS WORKING WITH US ON EARTH John 16:7 However, I am telling you nothing but the truth when I say it is profitable (good, expedient, advantageous) for you that I go away. Because if I do not go away, the Comforter (Counselor, Helper, Advocate, Intercessor, Strengthener, Standby) will not come to you [into close fellowship with you]; but if I go away, I will send Him to you [to be in close fellowship with you]. Jesus said it was to our advantage that He was leaving earth so Holy Spirit could come. o Holy Spirit Comforts us. o Holy Spirit Councils us. o Holy Spirit Helps us. o Holy Spirit Advocates for us. o Holy Spirit Intercedes for us. o Holy Spirit Strengthens us. o Holy Spirit stands by our sides. b. Without Holy Spirit, there is NO CONVICTION. John 16:8 And when he is come, he will reprove the world of sin, KJV 8
c. Like Jesus, He tells us what He hears the Father saying. John 16:13 he shall not speak of himself; but whatever he shall hear, that shall he speak: KJV d. Like us, Holy Spirit glorifies Jesus and reveals Him. John 16:14 He will honor and glorify Me, because He will take of (receive, draw upon) what is Mine and will reveal (declare, disclose, transmit) it to you. AMP IV. THE SPIRIT AND THE BRIDE Rev 22:17 And the Spirit and the bride say, Come. And let him that heareth say, Come. And let him that is athirst come. And whosoever will, let him take the water of life freely. KJV The Bride of Christ will know Holy Spirit intimately as a real person. Before the return of the Lord, the Bride will work with Holy Spirit in a divine partnership, inviting the lost to come The Spirit and the true Bride of Christ will welcome in the return of JESUS Christ. PART 2: WHO IS HOLY SPIRIT? I. HOLY SPIRIT IS GOD 2 Sam 23:2 The Spirit of the Lord spake by me, and his word was in my tongue. 3 The God of Israel said, the Rock of Israel spake to me, He that ruleth over men must be just, ruling in the fear of God. KJV Acts 5:3 Then Peter said, "Ananias, how is it that Satan has so filled your heart that you have lied to the Holy Spirit and have kept for yourself some of the money you received for the land? 4 Didn't it belong to you before it was sold? And after it was sold, wasn't the money at your disposal? What made you think of doing such a thing? You have not lied to men but to God." NIV II. HOLY SPIRIT MAKES DECISIONS 1 Cor 12:6 And there are diversities of activities, but it is the same God who works all in all. 7 But the manifestation of the Spirit is given to each one for the profit of all: 8 for to one is given the word of wisdom through the Spirit, to another the word of knowledge through the same Spirit, 9 to another faith by the same Spirit, to another gifts of healings by the same Spirit, 10 to another the working of miracles, to another prophecy, to another discerning of spirits, to another different kinds of tongues, to another the interpretation of tongues. 11 But one and the same Spirit works all these things, distributing to each one individually as He wills. NKJV 1 Cor 12:11 All these [gifts, achievements, abilities] are inspired and brought to pass by one and the same [Holy] Spirit, Who apportions to each person individually [exactly] as He chooses. III. HOLY SPIRIT DIRECTS THE AFFAIRS OF MEN Luke 4:1 And Jesus being full of the Holy Ghost returned from Jordan, and was led by the Spirit into the wilderness, KJV Rom 8:14 For as many as are led by the Spirit of God, they are the sons of God. KJV Acts 13:2 As they ministered to the Lord, and fasted, the Holy Ghost said, Separate me and Saul for the work whereunto I have called them. 3 And when they had fasted and prayed, and laid their hands on them, they sent them away. 4 So they, being sent forth by the Holy Ghost, departed unto Seleucia; and from thence they sailed to Cyprus. Then said I, Here am I; send me. 9 And he said, Go, and tell this people, Hear ye indeed, but understand not; and see ye indeed, but perceive not.
