Important information Important information Proper use The machine is digned and intded for private domtic use. It should oy be used for coffee preparation and to heat milk and water. Use for any other purpose will be deemed improper. JURA lektroapparate AG cannot acce any rponsibily for the consequc of improper use. Before using the machine read the instctions for use thoroughly and completely and comply wh the instctions they contain. A warranty service is not applicable for damage or defects caused by non-compliance wh the instctions for use. Keep the instctions for use close to the machine and pass them on to the next user. For your safety Please carefully read and observe the important safety information set out below. To avoid danger of pottially fatal electric shock: U Never use a machine which is damaged or has a defective mains cable. U In the evt of signs of damage, for example if there is a smell of burning, unplug the machine immediately om the mains supply and contact JURA service. U If the mains cable of this machine is damaged, must be repaired eher directly by JURA or by an authorised JURA service ctre. U Make sure that the NA and the mains cable are not located close to hot surfac. U Be careful to sure that the mains cable is not trapped and do not b against sharp edg. U Never op and repair the machine yourself. Do not modify the machine in any way that is not dcribed in the instctions for use. The machine contains live parts. The mains cable could pose a tripping hazard or become damaged. U Protect the NA om vironmtal influc such as rain, ost and direct suight. U Do not immerse the NA, mains cable or connections in water. U Do not put the NA or any individual parts in the dishwasher. U Swch your NA off before cleaning work wh the On/Off button. Always wipe the NA wh a damp cloth rather than a wet one, and protect om prolonged exposure to water splash. U 1 Preparing and using for the first time This chaer provid you wh the information you need to use your NA whout any problems. You will prepare your NA step-by-step to joy your first perfect cup of coffee. Setting up the machine 1 Preparing and using for the first time Wh setting up your NA, please note the following: U Place the machine on a horizontal surface that is not ssive to water. U Choose a spot for your NA which protects the machine against overheating. nsure that the vtilation slots are not covered. Filling the water tank To joy the perfect cup of coffee we recommd changing the water every day. CAUTION Milk, sparkling mineral water or other liquids can damage the water tank or the machine. T Oy fill the water tank wh h, cold water. T Remove the water tank and rinse wh cold water. JURA on the Internet Vis us on the Internet. @ On the JURA webse (www.jura.com) you will find interting and up-to-date information on your NA and on every aspect of coffee. 3-colour plain text display Your NA featur a 3-colour plain text display. The colours of the display texts have the following meanings: U Gre: The NA is ready for use. U Red: The NA is proming you to perform some action. Yellow: You are in programming mode. U T Fill the water tank wh h, cold water and reinsert. Filling the bean container CAUTION Coffee beans which have be treated wh addiv (e.g. sugar), preground coffee or eeze-dried coffee will damage the grinder. T Oy use untreated coffee beans to refill the bean container. T Remove the bean container cover. 7
1 Preparing and using for the first time T Remove any dirt or foreign objects om inside the bean container. T Fill the bean container wh coffee beans. T Close the bean container. T Place a receacle under the dual spout. First-time use The On/Off button also acts as a power swch. Wh the NA is swched off, the machine do not consume standby ergy. J WARNING If the machine is operated wh a defective mains cable, there is a danger of pottially fatal electric shock. T Never use a machine which is damaged or has a defective mains cable. Precondion: The water tank and bean container are full. T Insert the mains plug into a power socket. Q T Prs the On/Off button to swch the machine on. SPRACH DUTSCH g T Turn the Rotary Swch until the required language is displayed, for example LANGUAG NGLISH. k T Prs the Rotary Swch to confirm the language setting. OK, the language is set. PRSS ROTARY k T Prs the Rotary Swch. SYSTM FILLING HATING PRSS ROTARY k T Prs the Rotary Swch to start the rinse. RINSING, the system rins self, stopping automatically. RADY Inserting and activating the filter Your NA no longer has to be dcaled if you are using the CLARIS Blue filter cartridge. Perform the inserting the filter operation whout any interions. This will sure that your NA always produc s bt. Precondion: RADY is k T Prs and hold the Rotary Swch until RINS appears. g T Turn the Rotary Swch until FILTR - is k T Prs the Rotary Swch to ter the programme em. NO - g T Turn the Rotary Swch until YS p is k T Prs the Rotary Swch to confirm the setting. OK INSRT FILTR T Remove and emy the water tank. T Op the filter holder. 8
de T Insert the filter cartridge into the water tank, exerting slight prsure. T Close the filter holder. It will click into place audibly. After two months, the filter will cease to work. You can check the elapsed time by referring to the date plate on the filter holder in the water tank. T Fill the water tank wh h, cold water and reinsert. T Place a receacle (at least 500 ml) under the hot-water nozzle. k T Prs the Rotary Swch. OPN TAP l T Turn the swch anticlockwise to posion m. FILTR RINSING, water flows out of the hot-water nozzle. You can inter rinsing of the filter at any time. To do this, turn the swch clockwise. Turn the swch anticlockwise to continue rinsing the filter. The water may be slightly discoloured. This is not harmful to health and do not affect the taste. Rinsing of the filter stops automatically, CLOS TAP. y T Turn the swch clockwise to posion o. HATING RADY The filter is now activated. 1 Preparing and using for the first time Determining and adjusting the water hardns If you are using the CLARIS Blue filter cartridge and have activated in programming mode, you will not be able to adjust the water hardns. The harder the water is, the more equtly the NA needs to be dcaled. It is therefore important to adjust the water hardns. The water hardns can be adjusted on a continuous scale betwe 1 dh and 30 dh. Determining the water hardns You can find out what the water hardns is by using the Aquadur tt strip supplied as standard. T Hold the tt strip briefly (for one second) under nning water. T Shake off the water. T Wa for about one minute. T You will th be able to read the degree of water hardns om the discolouration of the Aquadur tt strip and the dcriion on the packaging. The water hardns can now be adjusted. Adjusting the water hardns xample: Change the water hardns setting om 16 dh to 25 dh. Precondion: RADY is k T Prs and hold the Rotary Swch until RINS appears. g T Turn the Rotary Swch until HARDNSS is 9

HARDNSS g T Turn the Rotary Swch until XIT is k T Prs the Rotary Swch to ex programming mode. RADY Adjusting the grinder You can adjust the grinder on a continuous scale to su the degree of roast of your coffee. CAUTION If you adjust the consistcy of grind wh the grinder is not operating, the grinding wheel could be damaged. T Oy adjust the consistcy of grind wh the grinder is nning. The consistcy of grind setting is correct if the coffee flows regularly om the coffee spout. In addion a fine, thick crema forms. xample: Change the consistcy of grind during the preparation of a coffee. T Place a cup under the dual spout. > T Prs the Coffee button to start preparation. T Turn the grinding wheel to the dired posion while the grinder is nning. 1 COFF, the pret amount of water flows into the cup and preparation stops automatically. RADY 2 Preparation You can inter preparation at any time while a specialy coffee or specialy coffee wh milk is being prepared. Just prs any button. Before and during the grinding operation you can select the coffee strgth for 1 coffee, cappuccino and latte macchiato : MILD, NORMAL, STRONG. During preparation, you can change the pret amount of water by turning the Rotary Swch. You can follow the currt status of preparation on the progrs bar. You can make permant settings for all products in programming mode (see Chaer 4 Permant settings in programming mode Products ). de Preparing two specialy coffe at the touch of a button The preparation of 2 prsi and 2 coffe follows this same model. xample: Prepare two prsi. Precondion: RADY is T Place two prso cups under the dual spout. ) T Prs the Aroma Boost button twice (whin two seconds) to start preparation. 2 SPRSSI, the pret amount of water flows into the cups. Preparation stops automatically. RADY Aroma Boost Wh you prepare an Aroma Boost the maximum possible amount of powder is hly ground and extracted to make an extra strong prso or coffee. Precondion: RADY is T Place a cup under the dual spout. ) T Prs the Aroma Boost button to start preparation. SPCIAL, the pret amount of water flows into the cup. Preparation stops automatically. RADY Latte macchiato, cappuccino Your NA can prepare a latte macchiato or cappuccino at the touch of a button. There is no need to move the glass or cup. xample: Proceed as follows to prepare one latte macchiato. Precondion: RADY is T Place a glass under the dual spout. T Remove the protective cover of the dual spout. 2 Preparation T Connect the milk pipe to the dual spout. T Immerse the other d of the milk pipe in a receacle wh milk (figure: JURA 0.4 lre stais steel vacuum milk container). nsure that the filling height of the milk is no higher than the milk pipe connection on the dual spout. ( T Prs the Latte Macchiato button. LATT MAC., the milk foam is prepared. Preparation stops automatically wh the pret amount of milk is reached. PAUS There is a short interval while the hot milk separat om the milk foam. This allows the typical layers of a latte macchiato to form. You can choose the lgth of this interval in programming mode (see Chaer 4 Permant settings in programming mode Products ). LATT MAC., coffee preparation starts. The pret amount of water flows into the cup. Preparation stops automatically. RADY Permantly setting the amount of water for the cup size It is easy to make permant settings for the amount of water for all specialy coffe according to the cup size. Adjust the amount once as shown in the following example. very time you prepare a drink in the future, this amount of water will be dispsed. 11
2 Preparation xample: Permantly adjust the amount of water for one coffee to the cup size. Precondion: RADY is T Place a cup under the dual spout. > T Prs and hold the Coffee button. 1 COFF, the grinding operation starts. > T Continue to hold the Coffee button down until NOUGH COFF? appears. > T Release the Coffee button. Preparation starts and the coffee flows into the cup. T Prs any button as soon as there is sufficit coffee in the cup. OK, 1 COFF, the set amount of water for one coffee is permantly stored. RADY The preparation of 1 coffee, 2 coffe, 2 prsi, cappuccino and latte macchiato wh ground coffee follows this model. It is not possible to prepare an Aroma Boost wh ground coffee. xample: Prepare a cup of coffee using ground coffee. Precondion: RADY is T Place a cup under the dual spout. T Op the powder chute. FILL POWDR T Place the filler funnel for ground coffee on the powder chute. You can alter this setting at any time by repeating the above procedure. Ground coffee You can choose to use a second coffee variety, for example decaffeinated coffee, wh the powder chute for ground coffee. Never add more than two level measuring spoons of ground coffee. Use ground coffee which is not ground too finely. Very fine coffee can block up the system so that the coffee oy com out in drips. If you did not fill the machine wh a sufficit amount of ground coffee, NOT NOUGH POWDR is displayed and the NA stops the operation. The dired specialy coffee must be prepared whin approximately one minute after filling wh the ground coffee. Otherwise the NA stops the operation and is once more ready for use. T Place one level measuring spoon of ground coffee into the filler funnel. T Remove the filler funnel. T Close the powder chute. SLCT BUTTON > T Prs the Coffee button to start preparation. 1 COFF, the pret amount of water flows into the cup. Preparation stops automatically. RADY It is also possible to prepare two cups of ground coffee. To do this, place two cups under the dual spout and add two level measuring spoons of ground coffee into the filler funnel. Prs the Coffee button > twice (whin two seconds) to start preparation. 12
de Hot water J CAUTION There is a danger of scalding om hot water splash. T Avoid direct contact wh the skin. RADY 3 Daily operation Swching on the machine Wh the NA is swched on, a prom to perform a rinse operation automatically appears. Q T Prs the On/Off button to swch the NA on. HATING PRSS ROTARY T Place a receacle under the dual spout. k T Prs the Rotary Swch to start the rinse. RINSING, the system rins self, stopping automatically. RADY Daily maintance To sure that you get many years of reliable service out of your NA and to guarantee the oimum coffee qualy, the machine requir daily maintance. T Remove the drip tray. T my the coffee grounds container and drip tray and rinse wh warm water. T Reinsert the coffee grounds container and the drip tray. T Rinse the water tank wh clean water. 3 Daily operation T Dismantle and rinse the dual spout (see Chaer 5 Maintance Dismantling and rinsing the dual spout ). T Wipe the surface of the machine wh a clean, soft, damp cloth (e.g. microfibre cloth). Swching off the machine Wh the NA is swched off, the system is automatically rinsed if a specialy coffee has be prepared. If cappuccino or latte macchiato has be prepared, the cappuccino rinse also tak place. T Place a receacle under the dual spout. Q T Prs the On/Off button. RINSING, CAPPUCCINO RINSING, the system rins self, stopping automatically. The NA is swched off. Wh the NA is swched off wh the On/ Off button, the machine do not consume standby ergy. 4 Permant settings in programming mode Products You can make the following permant settings for the specialy coffe: U Amount of water: 25 ML 240 ML (per cup) U Coffee strgth (for 1 coffee): MILD, NORMAL, STRONG Temperature: NORMAL, HIGH U You can make the following permant settings for latte macchiato and cappuccino: U Amount of milk foam: 3 SC 120 SC Interval: 0 SC 60 SC U 13

U All specialy coffe as well as hot water can be prepared whout having to wa. U NRGY p U Soon after the last preparation, the NA stops heating up. As soon as the ergy-saving temperature is reached, this is indicated in the display by the msage NRGY ON this may last several minut. The machine must heat back up before the next preparation. U Before coffee and hot water preparation, the machine heats up. xample: Change the ergy-saving mode om NRGY - to NRGY p. T Pour 250 ml of h water into a receacle and add one capful (max. 15 ml) of Cappuccino Cleaner. T Immerse the milk pipe in the receacle. T Place another receacle under the dual spout. k T Prs the Rotary Swch to start the cappuccino rinse. CAPPUCCINO RINSING, the milk system is rinsed. The rinse stops automatically and RADY appears on the display. Cleaning the milk system The dual spout should be cleaned daily if milk has be prepared to make sure functions perfectly. Your NA will not prom you to clean the dual spout. CAUTION If the wrong cleaning agt is used, the machine could be damaged and/or trac could be left behind in the milk. T Use oy original JURA maintance products. k T Prs the Rotary Swch. CLANING, the milk system and the pipe are cleaned. The operation is intered, WATR FOR CAPPUCCINO. T Rinse the receacle thoroughly, fill wh 250 ml of h water and immerse the milk pipe in. T my the receacle under the dual spout and place back underneath. k T Prs the Rotary Swch. CLANING, the milk system and the pipe are rinsed wh h water. The operation stops automatically. RADY 17
5 Maintance Dismantling and rinsing the dual spout The dual spout should be dismantled and rinsed daily if milk has be prepared to make sure functions perfectly. Your NA will not prom you to clean the dual spout. T Remove the milk pipe and rinse thoroughly under nning water. T Prs the releasing devic and pull the dual spout down and off. T F the air intake pipe. T Reassemble the milk system, noting the numbering on the parts. T Push the milk system down and remove. T Insert the assembled individual parts into the dual spout and prs them together. T F the dual spout on the machine. It will click into place audibly. T Dismantle the milk system into s individual parts. Changing the filter T Rinse all parts under nning water. If there are severely dried on milk ridu, firstly immerse the individual parts in JURA Cappuccino Cleaner and th clean them thoroughly. After 50 lr of water have flowed through, the filter will cease to work. Your NA will automatically prom you to change the filter. After two months, the filter will cease to work. You can check the elapsed time by referring to the date plate on the filter holder in the water tank. 18
de If the CLARIS Blue filter cartridge is not activated in programming mode, you will not be promed to change the filter. Precondion: FILTR / RADY is T Op the cover behind the Rotary Swch. c T Prs the Maintance button. INSRT FILTR T Remove and emy the water tank. T Op the filter holder and remove the old filter cartridge. T Insert a new filter cartridge into the water tank, exerting slight prsure. T Close the filter holder. It will click into place audibly. T Fill the water tank wh h, cold water and reinsert. T Place a receacle (at least 500 ml) under the hot-water nozzle. k T Prs the Rotary Swch. OPN TAP l T Turn the swch anticlockwise to posion m. FILTR RINSING, water flows out of the hot-water nozzle. You can inter rinsing of the filter at any time. To do this, turn the swch clockwise. Turn the swch anticlockwise to continue rinsing the filter. The water may be slightly discoloured. This is not harmful to health and do not affect the taste. 5 Maintance Rinsing of the filter stops automatically, CLOS TAP. y T Turn the swch clockwise to posion o. HATING RADY Cleaning the machine After 180 preparations or 80 swch-on rins, the NA will prom you to clean. CAUTION If the wrong cleaning agt is used, the machine could be damaged and/or trac could be left behind in the water. T Use oy original JURA maintance products. The cleaning programme lasts approximately 15 minut. Do not inter the cleaning programme. The qualy of cleaning will be impaired if you do so. JURA cleaning tablets are available om stockists. HATING RADY Dcaling the machine The NA builds up deposs of limcale over time and automatically proms you to dcale wh necsary. The degree of calcification depds on the hardns of your water. J CAUTION If the dcaling agt com into contact wh the skin or ey, this can cause irration. T Avoid contact wh the skin or ey. T Rinse off dcaling agt wh clean water. Should you get any dcaling agt in your eye, see a doctor. CAUTION If the wrong dcaling agt is used, the machine could be damaged and/or trac could be left behind in the water. T Use oy original JURA maintance products. CAUTION If the dcaling operation is intered, there may be damage to the machine. T Allow the dcaling programme to n to the d. AGNT IN TANK T Remove and emy the water tank. T Completely dissolve the contts of one blister (three JURA dcaling tablets) in a receacle holding 500 ml of water. This may take several minut. Dcaling the water tank 5 Maintance Limcale deposs may form in the water tank. To sure correct function of the machine, dcale the water tank om time to time. T Remove the water tank. T If you use a CLARIS Blue filter cartridge, remove. T Dcale the tank wh a mild convtional dcaling agt in accordance wh the manufacturer's instctions. T Rinse the water tank thoroughly. T If you use a CLARIS Blue filter cartridge, reinsert. T Fill the water tank wh h, cold water and reinsert. Cleaning the bean container Coffee beans may be covered wh a slight oil film which remains on the walls of the bean container. The trac may negatively affect the coffee rult. For this reason clean the bean container om time to time. Q T Prs the On/Off button to swch the machine off. T Disconnect the mains plug. T Remove the bean container cover. T Remove the coffee beans wh a vacuum cleaner. T Clean the bean container wh a soft, dry cloth. T Fill the bean container wh h coffee beans, th close the bean container cover. 21
