Luke 12 16 And he told them this parable: The ground of a certain rich man produced a good crop. 17 He thought to himself, What shall I do? I have no place to store my crops. 18 Then he said, This is what I ll do. I will tear down my barns and build bigger ones, and there I will store all my grain and my goods. 19 And I ll say to myself, You have plenty of good things laid up for many years. Take life easy; eat, drink and be merry. 20 But God said to him, You fool! This very night your life will be demanded from you. Then who will get what you have prepared for yourself? 21 This is how it will be with anyone who stores up things for himself but is not rich toward God.

Barn Pattern 3. Scissors 4. Tape 5. Crayons, Markers, or Colored Pencils 6. Paper Plates 7. Yellow yarn (1/2 inch pieces) 8. Glue Materials Directions 1. Copy a barn pattern for each student onto 67 lb. white cardstock. 2. Have students color the barn pattern with crayons, markers, or colored pencils. 3. Instruct students to cut out the barn on the solid black lines. Students will fold on the dotted lines. 4. Help students tape the roof on. 5. Tape the barn to a paper plate. 6. Glue small pieces of yellow yarn (for grain) around the barn. For Discussion As students are making their barns, remind them of what the Bible verse says. The rich fool stored up his treasure here on earth and was not rich in the ways of heaven. Help students understand that they should store up their treasures in heaven rather than here on earth. Time Needed to Complete: Approximately 20 minutes Memory Verse For where your treasure is, there your heart will be also. Matthew 6:21

The Parable of The Rich Fool Barn Pattern

The Bible Times Herald A Special Report on THE PARABLE OF THE RICH FOOL Jesus told a story called a parable. A parable is a story with two meanings. There is an earthly meaning and a heavenly meaning. Jesus told this story: A rich man had land that produced a good crop. He thought to himself, What shall I do? I have no place to store my crops. So the rich man decided to tear down his barns and build bigger ones to store his grain. Then the man decided to relax because he had plenty of good things stored up for himself. But that very night the rich man would die. Jesus asked who would get the riches he stored up for himself. Jesus explained the parable by saying, This is how it will be with anyone who stores up things for himself but is not rich toward God. For more details, please read Luke 12:16-21 in the Bible. Take-home Activity Sheet QUESTIONS 1. Why did the rich man tear down his barns and build bigger ones? 2. Once the rich man had plenty of grain, what did he do? 3. What did Jesus say would happen to the man that night? 4. Why shouldn t we store up treasures here on earth? 14 MEMORY VERSE For where your treasure is, there your heart will be also.
