Morning Prayer The Call to Prayer Bless the Lord, O my soul, and all that is within me, Bless God s holy Name. (Psalm 103:1) The Request for Presence Set watch before my mouth, O Lord, And guard the door of my lips; Let not my heart incline to any living thing. Let me not be occupied in wickedness with evildoers, Nor eat of their choice foods. Let the righteous smite me in friendly rebuke; Let not the oil of the unrighteous anoint my head; For my prayer is continually against their wicked deeds. Let their rulers be overthrown in stony places, That they may know my words are true. (Psalm 141:3-6) The Greeting Show me your ways, O Lord, and teach me your paths. Lead me in your truth and teach me, For you are the God of my salvation; In you have I trusted all the day long. (Psalm 25:3-4) A Reading With a large crowd gathering and people from every town finding their way to him, he told this parable: A sower went out to sow his seed. Now as he sowed, some fell on the edge of the path and was trampled on; and the birds of the air ate it up. Some seed fell on rock, and when it came up it withered away, having no moisture. Some seed fell in the middle of thorns and the thorns grew with it and choked it. And some seed fell into good soil and grew and produced its crop a hundredfold. Saying this he cried, Anyone who has ears for listening, should listen. (Luke 8:4-8) Your word is a lantern to my feet and a light upon my path. (Psalm 119:105) The Morning Psalm The Lord is near to those who call upon him, To all who call upon him faithfully. He fulfills the desire of those who fear him; He hears their cry and helps them. The Lord preserves all those who love him, But he destroys all the wicked. (Psalm 145:19-21) Your word is a lantern to my feet and a light upon my path. (Psalm 119:105) for the Morning Lessons Your word is a lantern to my feet and a light upon my path. (Psalm 119:105) 1

The Small Verse I will remember the works of the Lord, And call to mind your wonders of old time. I will meditate on all your acts And ponder your mighty deeds. (Psalm 77:11-12) My Prayers for Others I think of my family and friends, and offer their names to God. I think of those I know who are facing special challenges today, and offer them to God. I remember someone I ve seen on a street or in a store whose name I do not know. I offer them to God. I consider the shape of the day in front of me, its challenges and opportunities. I offer my day to God. I remember those who are a part of my community and offer them to God. I consider something large in the world that is too big for me to fix. I offer that situation whether it is near to me or far away from me to God. The Prayer Appointed for the Week Almighty God, the fountain of all wisdom, you know my necessities before I ask and my ignorance in asking: Have compassion on my weakness, and mercifully give me those things which for my unworthiness I dare not, and for my blindness I cannot ask; through the worthiness of your Son Jesus Christ my Lord, who lives and reigns with you and the Holy Spirit, one God, now and for ever. Amen. The Concluding Prayer of the Church Lord God, almighty and everlasting Father, you have brought me in safety to this new day: Preserve me with your mighty power, that I may not fall into sin, nor be overcome by adversity; and in all I do direct me to the fulfilling of your purpose; through Jesus Christ my Lord. Amen. The Lord s Prayer Our Father, who art in heaven, hallowed be your Name. May your kingdom come, and your will be done, On earth as in heaven. Give us today our daily bread. Forgive us our sins as we forgive those who sin against us. Lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil; For yours are the kingdom and the power and the glory Forever and ever. Amen. 2

Midday Prayer The Call to Prayer Praise God, from whom all blessings flow; Praise him, all creatures here below; Praise him above, you heavenly hosts; Praise Father, Son and Holy Ghost. Amen. The Request for Presence So teach me to number my days that I may apply my heart to wisdom. (Psalm 90:12) The Greeting There is forgiveness in you; Therefore you shall be feared. (Psalm 130:3) for the Midday Lessons The merciful goodness of the Lord endures for ever on those who fear him, And his righteous children s children. (Psalm 103:17) our petitions for us in groans that cannot be put into words, and he who can see into all hearts knows what the Spirit means because the prayers that the Spirit makes for God s holy people are always in accordance with the mind of God. (Romans 8:25-27) The merciful goodness of the Lord endures for ever on those who fear him, And his righteous children s children. (Psalm 103:17) The Midday Psalm How dear to me is your dwelling, O Lord of hosts! My soul has a desire and longing for the courts of the Lord; My heart and my flesh rejoice in the living God. The sparrow has found her a house and the swallow a nest where she may lay her young; By the side of your altars, O Lord of hosts, my King and my God. Happy are they who dwell in your house! They will always be praising you. Happy are the people whose strength is in you! Whose hearts are set on the pilgrim s way. (Psalm 84:1-4) A Reading Having hope for what we cannot yet see, we are able to wait for it with persevering confidence. And as well as this, the Spirit too comes to help us in weakness, for when we do not know how to pray properly, then the Spirit personally makes 3 The merciful goodness of the Lord endures for ever on those who fear him, And his righteous children s children. (Psalm 103:17)

The Small Verse The Lord is my shepherd and nothing is wanting to me. In green pastures He hath settled me. Forgive us our sins as we forgive those who sin against us. Lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil; For yours are the kingdom and the power and the glory Forever and ever. Amen. Amen. The Concluding Prayer of the Church O God, the source of eternal light: Shed forth your unending day upon all of us who watch for you, that our lips may praise you, our lives may bless you, and our worship may give you glory; through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen. 4

Evening Prayer The Call to Prayer Proclaim the greatness of the Lord our God And worship God upon the holy hill; For the Lord our God is the Holy One. (Psalm 99:9) The Request for Presence Send out your light and your truth, that they may lead me, And bring me to your holy hill and to your dwelling. (Psalm 43:9) The Greeting The Lord lives! Blessed is my Rock! Exalted is the God of my salvation! (Psalm 18:46) The Evening Psalm Hear, O my people, and I will speak: O Israel, I will bear witness against you; for I am God, your God. I do not accuse you because of your sacrifices; Your offerings are always before me. I will take no bull-calf from your stalls, nor he-goats out of your pens; For all the beasts of the forest are mine, The herds in their thousands upon the hills. I know every bird in the sky, And the creatures of the fields are in my sight. If I were hungry, I would not tell you, For the whole world is mine and all that is in it. Do you think I eat the flesh of bulls, or drink the blood of goats? Offer to God a sacrifice of thanksgiving and make good your vows to the Most High. Call upon me in the day of trouble; I will deliver you, and you shall honor me. (Psalm 124:8) The Greeting Almighty God, my heavenly Father: I have sinned against you, through my own fault, in thought, and word, and deed, and in what I have left undone. For the sake of your Son our Lord Jesus Christ, forgive me all my offenses; and grant that I may serve you in newness of life, to the glory of your Name. Amen. The Reading Listen, my God, listen to us.... Relying not on our upright deeds but on your great mercy, we pour out our plea to you. Listen, Lord! Forgive, Lord! Hear, Lord, and act! For your own sake, my God, do not delay since your city and your people alike bear your name.
