Decription General The Powerex Oille Rotary Scroll Air Compreor ha advanced croll compreor technology through the development of a completely oille compreor. The Powerex Scroll Compreor offer a dynamically balanced air end which inure vibrationfree operation. The rotary deign permit a continuou 100% duty cycle. Other tandard feature on the Powerex Scroll Compreor include: a Magnetic Starter, Motor Overload Protection, a High Temperature Shutdown Switch, an Air Cooled Aftercooler and a Single Phae or Three Phae 4 Pole ODP motor. WARNING DRAIN MOISTURE FROM TANK EVERY DAY TO Safety Guideline A SEPARATE SAFETY BOOKLET IS PROVIDED ALONG WITH THIS MANUAL. READ AND UNDERSTAND The SAFETY BOOKLET. Thi manual contain information that i very important to know and undertand. Thi information i provided for SAFETY and to PREVENT EQUIPMENT PROBLEMS. Never ue wood to him the compreor. 6. Never intall the compreor outide. 7. For 3 and 5 HP ingle phae model it i recommended that additional tank volume be added. 3 HP ingle phae model need a minimum of 30 gallon air capacity to limit the number of tart-per-hour to 14 maximum. 5 HP ingle phae model need a minimum of 60 gallon air capacity to limit the number of tart-per-hour to 10 maximum. Ventilation 1. If the croll compreor i located in a totally encloed room, an exhaut fan with acce to outide air mut be intalled. 2. Never retrict the cooling fan exhaut air. 3. Vent the exhaut air outide to prevent the compreor from operating at high temperature and hutting down. 4. Never locate the compreor where hot exhaut air from other heat generating unit may be pulled into the unit. Wiring All electrical connection mut be performed by a qualified electrician. Intallation mut be in accordance with local and national electrical code. 1. Make ure power ource i the ame voltage a the unit required voltage 2. Ue olderle terminal to connect the electric power ource. 3. Remove the two left panel. 4. Pull the electric cable through the electric ource inlet and connect to the primary ide of the contact block. 5. Appropriate expanion loop or bend hould be intalled at the compreor to avoid tree caued by change in hot and cold condition. 3. Piping upport hould be anchored eparately from the compreor to reduce noie and vibration. 4. Never ue any piping maller than the compreor connection. 5. Ue flexible hoe to connect the outlet of the compreor to the piping o that the vibration of the compreor doe not tranfer to the piping. Remote Intake Piping Powerex Compreor Sytem with pipe thread connector on the intake filter are intended for intallation with remote air intake. Piping for the remote intake ytem mut be intalled at the final operating ite. Under ome condition, the intake piping may facilitate the condenation of humidity in the intake air tream into liquid water. The intake filter upplied by Powerex will not top ingetion of liquid water by the pump. Liquid water going into the pump will damage the pump and void the warranty. Alway intall drip leg with ufficient capacity to capture liquid water in the intake piping before the air filter. Drip leg mut be ized with low enough air velocity to make ure they are effective at capturing liquid water in the intake air and mut be maintained (drained) at frequent interval to make ure they remain effective. Safety Valve Tank mounted compreor are hipped from the factory with afety valve intalled in the air receiver manifold. The flow capacity of the afety valve i equal to or greater than the capacity of the compreor. 1. The preure etting of the afety valve mut be equal or le than the maximum working preure of the air receiver. 2

2. Safety valve hould be placed ahead of any poible blockage point in the ytem, i.e. hutoff valve. 3. Avoid connecting the afety valve with any tubing or piping. 4. Manually operate the afety valve every ix month to avoid ticking or freezing. Operation Before tart up 1. Make ure all afety warning, label and intruction have been read and undertood before continuing. 2. Remove any hipping material, bracket, etc. 3. Confirm that the electric power ource and ground have been firmly connected. 4. Check the belt for tightne. 5. Be ure all preure connection are tight. 6. Check to be certain all afety relief valve, etc., are correctly intalled. 7. Securely mount all panel and guard. 8. Check that all fue, circuit breaker, etc., are the proper ize. 9. Make ure the inlet filter i properly intalled. 10. Confirm that the drain valve i cloed. tart-up and Operation 1. Viually check the rotation of the compreor pump. The rotation hould be counterclockwie if viewing the compreor from the belt ide. If the rotation i incorrect, have a qualified electrician correct the upply wiring. 2. Follow all the procedure under Before tart-up before attempting operation of the compreor. 3. Make ure compreor witch i in the OFF poition. 4. Switch the electric ource breaker on. 5. Open the 3/8 inch dicharge valve completely. 6. Turn compreor witch to ON poition and check that the compreor operate without exceive vibration, unuual noie or leak. 7. Cloe the dicharge valve completely. 8. If the preure doe not rie on a three phae unit, turn the unit off. Have a qualified electrician witch the breaker OFF and exchange the L1 and L2 connection (two out of three phae of electric ource) on the control panel. 9. Check the dicharge preure. Alo make ure the air preure rie to the deignated preure etting by checking the dicharge preure gauge. 10. Check the operation of the preure witch by opening the outlet valve and confirming the compreor tart at approximately 95 pig for low preure unit and 115 pig or high preure unit. daily Operation 1. Stop the compreor by turning witch to the OFF poition. NOTE: If the compreor rotate in revere for more than five econd, the check valve need to be cleaned or replaced. 2. Switch the breaker OFF if the compreor i not to be ued for a long period of time. topping the Compreor during normal Operation 1. Cloe the dicharge valve. 2. Allow the air preure to build and the compreor to top. 3. Turn the compreor off by turning witch to the OFF poition. Belt Adjutment Procedure 1. Remove the top panel by removing the two lotted 1/4-20 crew on the rear of the encloure. 2. Looen the four (4) motor lide bolt. 3. Tighten belt by adjuting the belt adjutment bolt. Belt tenion for new belt hould be 57 to 65 lb for the looet belt in the et, then 45-50 lb after run-in. If the belt tenion fall below 25 lb or chirping i heard a tart up, re-tenion belt. (If uing the deflection method for belt tenion, 3.8-4.3 lb force at mid pan hould give 7/32 belt deflection for a new belt, 3.0-3.38 for a ued belt for 7/32 belt deflection. 4. Tighten the four (4) motor lide bolt. Tighten the two electrical panel ide lide bolt firt then tighten the two pulley ide lide bolt. Figure 1 3
