Focus Director, David Lee explains "There has been a steady increase in demand in recent years, as we have moved into new and expanding export markets. We have also gained market share in our domestic and European markets, against strong competition. At the same time, we have continued to develop and strengthen our ranges of equipment, with the introduction of new flexo presses and ancillary machinery. Obviously, with this growth in machine sales, comes the increased demand for technical support, tooling and spare parts. All of this created a real strain on our manufacturing capacity and we took the decision to expand. The investment in a new factory and equipment was an essential step in the development of Focus Label Machinery and will enable us to continue to improve our manufacturing operation and technical support for our customers.' Customer training centre As well as the additional new factory and office space, Focus also have a dedicated Customer Training Centre, catering for the training requirements of customers from all over the world. The Centre also provides a full time demonstration facility for the entire range of printing presses, platemaking systems and other ancillary equipment supplied by Focus. Manufacturing technology We have invested heavily in installing the best systems to link our design, research & development departments with production. We design all our equipment from mechanical concepts through to electrical & control systems. We use the latest in CAD/CAM/CNC manufacturing technology to ensure every piece of equipment or part that we supply conforms to its requirements. Inward supply of materials is controlled through to production, inspection, storage & despatch of components from our warehouse to you the client. Focus has a dedicated assembly area, where specialist technicians work on all aspects of systems & machine assembly. Many orders are unique to a client and only by having our own dedicated staff can we ensure that quality and full flexibility are maintained. Final testing for equipment is carried by our own Print Technicians prior to despatch. The new facility comprises a 20,000 sq. ft manufacturing plant, as well as new sales offices, meeting rooms and customer reception areas. Their former factory building will also be fully refurbished as a dedicated assembly facility and incorporated into the new development, creating a 30,000 sq. ft facility. 2 3

TagTransTM Prints are presented in rolls or sheets ready to be applied onto the fabric with the application of heat and pressure. The application process typically takes about two to five seconds, depending on the manufacturer s process and the type of fabric. The tag constitutes an ultra-thin layer of specially formulated adhesive and lettering, which results in a sharp image being fixed permanently to the fabric. Standard practice calls for the labels to be durable enough to withstand 50 washes as well as dry cleaning. Focus has developed its own unique, ink, paper chemistry and printing transfer technology in order to fix the entire image to the garment or fabric, eliminating the need of a sew in label. Heat transfer labels can be applied to polyester, polyethylene, leather, spandex and nylon. The latest developments in the technology have enabled these tags to be applied to thin low-weight fabrics, such as those used in lingerie, minimising the see-through effect. Among the industry s labelling solutions providers, there are as many different variables of tagless offerings as there are suppliers. We believe we are the first company to design specific equipment to meet the demand of this emerging technology. The table top system provides a low cost solution to the high demand of single cut or folded printed labels, increasing production capacity of the label cutting department and in house apparel producers alike. The oven shown will house a full days production from several printing presses, and overnight will provide full drying of the finished rolls. The oven interior has several levels with ideal spacing allowing a large quantity of label to be housed. Furthermore, colours can be mixed to provide special colours on the press. The Heat Set ink ranges are designed to meet the hardest of wash resistant requirements set by the retail organisations and all inks are now OEKO-TEX approved for use in garments throughout the world. When used to the Manufacturers instructions, approved ink will pass all washing & dry cleaning tests including British standards and the AATCC. As well as the additional new factory and office space, Focus also have a dedicated Customer Training Centre, catering for the training requirements of customers from all over the world. The Centre also provides a full-time demonstration facility for the entire range of printing presses, platemaking systems and other ancillary equipment suppled by Focus. Photopolymer plates Standard flexographic printing plates are used and they are widely available throughout the world. Manufacturers include DuPont, BASF, JET, TOK and using one of these brands will ensure the highest print quality reproduction. Printing plates can be made in house and Focus are able to supply platemaking equipment from Photomeca & Cartomac and photopolymer plate from TOK. Full details are available on request. This all in one version combines all the platemaking process steps and is designed for all types of plates and solvents (chlorinated or unchlorinated). Although compact and economic to run, these systems are of excellent build quality and will easily produce flexo plates of the highest quality, with smooth even floors, crisp detail and fine, clean reversals. PROFILE FLW Water Washout Flexo Platemakers A complete range of compact combination units for water washable flexographic plates. This all in one version combines all the platemaking process steps and is designed for use with the leading brands of water washable plates. Ideally suited to the smaller plate making operation where space is limited and value for money is paramount, this line is perfectly adapted for customers using limited thickness of plate.
